tuck243ParticipantI’ve been calling for the Lakers to get Ron Artest since he was up on the market from Sac-town… I haven’t seen ANY player that’s a better lock-down defender than him (especially post hand-checking era)… Even the greatest agrees, when he said he would have loved to play against Ron Artest (MJ of course)… And I always said Kobe just need a lock-down defender next to him like Jordan had (you already seen what he did with an overrated Ariza). Why? Say what you want, but Kobe is the CLOSEST thing to Jordan you will see in your lifetime (and he’s not near him- well not yet). I really don’t see ANY team that can beat the Laker’s other than the Celtics if KG can dominant Gasol n Bynum offensively (which I doubt it)… LeBron can’t do ish versus Artest… He matches him with strength, so how can LeBron beat you, if he can’t get to the hole? His jumper? LOL… He better get off he’s vacation in L.A. and start practicing because if he’s lucky to make it to the finals, its going to be hell… This move alone blew everything else out the water… If everyone stays healthy, I don’t see how the Lakers would lose the next 3 years…
Unless 1 of 2 things happens….
A) Artest and Kobe hate each other… A 50% chance…
B) D-Wade and LeBron team up…
Im telling you MJ got his Pippen….

laarethekingsParticipantI see where your going with it… but people just don.t understand how good Pippen was. He was way better player than Artest ( not saying artest is a bum or anything like that ) I love Artest and will love him as a laker but I get where its going… Artest is the BEST wing player that the Lakers have givin Kobe.

dwat4444ParticipantThey seem like the team to beat by far now with this uprgade. They do need to improve at pg, maybe through a trade since they have so many young prospects on their bench. Any chance they sign Kidd? That would be a good deal cuz you know kidd wants a ring at this point and he’s still an uprade over fisher.
1. kidd
2. kobe
3. artest
4. gasol
5. bynum

tuck243ParticipantI don’t think Artest can provide what Pippen did offensively… But he matches (if not better) what Pippen did defensively for MJ… People forget how Pippen guarded the best wing players and PG’s… The same thing will happen with Artest n Kobe… On Offense, Odom is Pippen and Defense, Artest is Pippen… Pippen was good, but I watched some of them old Bulls games and Pippen missed A LOT of wide open lay-ups… He was great, but lets not get carried away here and say he’s WAY better than Artest… Because honestly that’s not the case…

trueone313detroitParticipantArtest could handle handle a bad back pippen. Artest is nowhere in his class. No Allstars, or USA Teams Be Real.

tuck243ParticipantBecause its Ron Artest… How many All-Star games or Team USA Dennis Rodman had and he was a rebounding, defensive machine? You guys go off of what people tell you or stats… Actually WATCH a basketball and see what its about… Pippen isn’t WAY better than Artest… Is he better? Yes, But killing him? Naw… Not at all…

CavsDawgParticipantnot killing him?

Stanford hoopsParticipantyeah i wouldnt say pippen was wayyyyy better and i was a big bulls fan….how old was pippen when he left chicago? and i do recall him not being as dominate when jordan retired the first time..though he was still good…and a good point was made about ron not being a all star ..the man has all star talent but his rep caused people not to pick him for the all star game..as far as 50% chance of them not getting along thats wayyyyyy to high considering that they are good friends which is well known…the only issue is will the ball stop at ron when passes are made and tries to do the one on one thing too much…personally i see him changing his game to accomadate the lakers like other players that come there..i mean how cant you when you have the best player and the best coach on youre team on top of them just winning the title
