valentinedo you see it? i just thought about it, while mkg can even play sg and is a legit sf, there similarities between moe harkless’s and mkg’s SF game.
they both step up in big games. they both good wing defenders. they both good rebounders off the wing. they both play hard. they share similar physical attributes, with 7ft + wingspans. they both not good perimeter shooters and re somewhat unorthodox scorers with a lil post up game…. if you put him in UK as a mkg replament i see him having a similar impact.
am i tripping? what do u think?

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantUmm… aside from the rebounds and turnovers, they are not alike at all…

Future_Scout boardi was looking at my board and i was thinking how low moe harkless was at 18. then i started thinking about his game and how it could impact the league and it just hit me.
i think i can say confidently that they are similar. no?

Future_Scout boardso are they similar or not? how did tol and i both get negged if we are taking different sides on the argument?
i might be wrong about this, but i feel like im right…. if any1 can clear things up and say why they aren’t similar it would be appreciated. maybe the 1s that did all the negging should speak their mind

kobyzParticipanti have to say that mkg is more impact player, if you thinks of this he’s copy of Luol Deng, pure basketball player, very High basketball IQ, versatility, toughness and amazing attitude.

Future_Scout boardto a degree, moe harkless brings "high basketball iq, versatility, toughness, and amazing attitude"
…
as for versatility: ST. john U. with a couple others say he will be able to play 2 on defense. espn got him as a "G/F" standing at 6’8 with a 7’2 wingspan. some others say he a SF/PF like this site. and i’ve read nothing but good things about his work ethic and attitude.

Meditated StatesParticipantHave a feeling Moe is more explosive. MKG is more battled test do to tournament play. I want to see these two one on one in workoutsu. They are gonna battle.

Future_Scout boardthis can be quote on quote said about mkg
pros: "His ability to attack the rim from the perimeter gives him a distinct advantage over his defender who is unlikely to share his agility … Quick first step and comfortable handle and footwork for his size … He has a great feel for the rim, and can score by hitting off-balance shots at awkward angles … His jumper has range out to 20 feet, and although he shot poorly from downtown. He’s got a quick second jump: he gets off the ground and reaches the ball before his defender, resulting in tip-ins and rebounds given his length … Runs the floor like a guard … Defensively he reads passing lanes extremely well, and frequently gets tips, deflections or blocks playing off the ball "
cons: "scoring frequently around the basket due to his length and athleticism … Harkless struggles to create easy shots for himself in the half court, especially on the perimeter as a shooter … Pull up off the dribble is not really in his repertoire…Needs to add muscle… Number one task is to improve as a shooter, which will maximize his services playing the 3 …"

Future_Scout boardso, yes. they are similar?
0 - Posted on: Thu, 04/19/2012 - 5:42am #661442
ItsVictorOladipoParticipantLOL, yes I think they have alot of similarities.
Right now I think this is what seperates them; Harkless is skinny while Gilchrist is 24 lbs heavier, Harkless needs to work on his handles and his court vision, MKG isn’t the greatest ball handler out there but his ball handling and vision are super to Harkless and above average for a SF. Ultimately while Harkless looks like he should be a good defender at the NBA level I think MKG has a legit shot to be a great defender in the NBA.

Future_Scout boardfair enough. i agree with everything u said, mkg better ball handler, passer, defender, that’s why mkg is a lock top 5 and harkless is going early 20s.
idk if i believe that mkg is 230 lbs, i think he is 220 at most… and harkless is 210 at least.
i think he has a chance to be the steal of the draft if he goes at 21.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantYeah I think Harkless’s stock should be a bit higher. Right now I have him as the 4th best SF available (ahead of Terrence Jones) and think he would be a good value pick anywhere after the first 12 selections.

Future_Scout boardthx bruh, you the man. that’s all i wanted, some1 that confirms they share a lil similarities, cus i wasn’t 100% sure.
and yes, i think after the first 12 picks is where he belongs, i moved him ahead of terrence jones right before this threat. i’ll probably take him 14-20 in my mock… he has huge upside.

F_Speople is starting to realize, i was reading a recent thread about moe harkless in another website and these are quotes from different people.
""Moe Harkless is as good as Mike Gilchrist.""
.
""Harkless is Gilchrist without the motor""
.
""Harkless. He is MKG without the hype.""
