I don’t do this often, but I want some second opinions. Comment on my mock draft, you’re allowed to fully agree or disagree with it and I won’t take your opinions offensively, so be perfectly honest on what you would do differently.

I’ll say this now since I know some people will likely bring it up. I know Andre Drummond and Arnett Moultrie a a tad lower then some people may have them, but there are always people who drop in drafts. I think Drummond scares some GM’s despite his tremendous upside and i’m just not as high on Moultrie as some people. He doesn’t seem to have the motor one would want from a big man.

Other then that, I tried to consider both talent and team needs when making the choices and I think I liked the way this one turned out and likely won’t change it again until the lottery is decided, barring something catastrophic happening.

Well, I love it for the Cavs. Beal, Quincy Miller, Ezeli, and Will Barton? That would be a GREAT draft for us.

All around pretty solid though. I’m not sold on the fact that Terrence Ross will be there at 18, my early prediction is he’s an end of the lottery kind of guy. Someone MIGHT gamble on Teague a little higher than 26th (Orlando at 19th, for example). Meyers Leonard 19th to Magic, not too sure about that one. Care to explain? If they are for sure going to move Dwight then it wouldn’t be bad to bring in a young C, just curious as to why you think he goes there. Lastly, I think Andrew Nicholson will go higher than 30th. He’d be an absolute steal at pick #30.

Tony Wroten to Denver is interesting. Can you explain your reasoning behind that pick? I’m just curious.

I was debating between Terrence Ross and Dion Waiters at 15th to the Sixers. You could switch them up but I think Waiters is more accepting of a bench role which he would likely assume behind Evan Turner. He seems like the type of rookie who Doug Collins would like, would fit perfectly in their bench mob identity, and is more of an open court type of player which is what the Sixers like to play. Though they do need a shooter to spread the floor at well so, Ross would be an equally good fit with Jodie Meeks becoming a free agent.

If Meyers Leonard is available at 19, I don’t think the Magic would hesitate. Not just because they lack legit size behind Howard and because Howard himself is unsure about his situation, but because he could fill a similar role Marcin Gortat used to. Backup C, come in and give them size, rebounding, defense, a few baskets down low etc. If Howard stayed, he’d be a good backup and could learn from the best in the game and build on his potential. If not, then at least the Magic have another centre they could evaluate during their rebuilding process. I’m sure you mean how he’d slip that far though. Some scouts think he could slip to around 20, Chad Ford included, and with all the talented players and question marks, Meyers Leonard being one of them, I could see it. I could also see him going lottery due to his upside and the lack of legitimate big men in our league today.

Andrew Nicholson seems like a mixed bag. I see him going anywhere from 20-30, some people say higher, some lower. It wasn’t so much what I dislike about him, he’s a borderline top 20 talent to me, it’s more so other teams taking needs and other talented players and him taking the fall for playing at a smaller program and not having quite the upside of say, a Quincy Miller.

Denver doesn’t have too many positional needs. They’re pretty deep at all positions, so they could just take one of the best players available and add to that. In terms of talent, Tony Wroten could’ve been a lottery pick if he stayed in school and added to his game. The talents there, and Goerge Karl could be the guy to help him live up to that. He can play either guard so if they decide to let Andre Miller go, he could be a backup PG. Or he could play SG and share time with Rudy Fernandez. If he doesn’t get a backup role in his first year, he could learn from a veteran like Andre Miller which would benefit him and then fill either positional role when a hole opens up. He’s a guy who can get inside and create shots, mostly right now for himself but with the right coaching, he could learn to create for others too. He’s got the defense penetrating skill down and thats something you can’t teach, so he’d be deadly in Denvers open court style and would fit in around the shooters like Fernandez, Gallinari, Afflalo and Harrington spreading the floor.
