ESPN is reporting that the Minnesota timberwolves have rejected the Memphis grizzlies trade proposal which would have sent Rudy Gay to Minnesota. It’s unknown what Minnesota would have offered but sources say Memphis asked for WAY to much, which made David Kahn quickly say no. The only 2 players that make Kahn deny a deal that fast is Kevin love and Ricky Rubio. Another rumor is that Memphis may try to ship Zach Randolph out as well. Is Memphis trying to save money or are they being borderline greedy? Gay should go but sending away Z-Bo is downright giving up on a special season.(shootout to Wizkid for the title idea).

At first I thought this was gonna be some news outta San Francisco.

I’m guessing Memphis wanted back Shved, D Will and AK 47. Any trade I would make with Minny I would def be asking for D Will just to see if they’re dumb enough to throw him in a trade. I really believe on another team D Will would be averaging around 15 and 7 which would be solid numbers with the promise of getting better.

Minny is an idealistic landing spot for Gay IMO and AK 47 would fill in perfectly in Memphis.

So Minnesota is going to trade for Gay to be in the same boat as Memphis in a few years? Rudy Gay makes no sense for the T Wolves financially. Already paying Kevin Love. Have to pay Pek and Rubio soon. Small market teams can’t get away with that in this CBA. That is why Memphis is shopping Gay. Gay just has a bad contract for a player with his production. He is a good player and I get why Memphis gave him the money but it will be hard to trade him.

I think Gay is a bad fit for Memphis, and in another system he would resemble more closely the guy he’s getting paid to be. I would just love to see Gay get a chance to play with Rubio as Rubio would put Gay’s 40″ vert and 7’4″ wingspan to full use in transition and backdoor cuts. He doesn’t get them type of looks in Memphis.

IF Gay won’t backdoor cut in Memphis, what makes you think he’ll do it in Minnesota? That’s the problem.

Conley isn’t Rubio, but he’s a very good passer. IF Gay would move without the damn ball and close up the holes in his game, I think he’d be living up to that contract. Him playing hero ball won’t work in Minnesota either.

Like I said I think it’s more a system thing. Maybe Coach Hollins doesn’t implement the backdoor cut like Adelmen does in Minny. And if he doesn’t do what Adelmen says in Minny then he doesn’t get playing time.

And Conley is a very solid PG, but he’s nothing like Rubio who can make something out of nothing and deliver passes to players who didn’t know themselves they were open.

The Grizz cant be seriously thinking about moving Z-Bo. If so, they have no faith in winning it all this year. IMO I think by moving Gay also shows that its no way they will win this year. Of course they’ll still be a good team, but without Gay they are not serious contenders in the West.

Well this isn’t what I thought it was! Haha seems like the Grizzlies are trying to go backdoor on Gay and slip in the ol’ trade if you know what i mean. 😉

Word is the grizzleys asked for Kevin Love and/or Nikola Pekovic.
I think for the first time Kahn did the right thing. That would be a horrible trade for the twolves, trading their two best players for gay.

    Check realgm for the report

No trade with Minnesota? This is disappointing. I think a Gay-Love combo would have been nice.

    report

The Wizards are reportedly making a “push” to trade for Rudy Gay.
Get in line. The teams already linked to Gay include the Cavaliers, Raptors, Celtics, Wolves, Kings, Warriors and Suns. The Grizzlies also haven’t committed to trading Gay, in effect blowing up the team for financial gain, and both the players and coach Lionel Hollins have publicly stated that they hope the team stays together. Don’t give too much credence to this rumor.

The Wizards have most of their depth in the frontcourt where Memphis are strong and we’d assume that the Wizzards would want to keep Beal to run alongside Wall, so deal would probably be Ariza, Vesley and pick along those lines.
