torontoraptors10ParticipantAdrian Wojnarowski
@WojYahooNBAPortland has fired coach Nate McMillan, league source tells Y! Sports.

Good or bad move by the Blazers? But they are definitely cleaning up! They had so much potential with Brandon Roy and Greg Oden, but does it look like they are going to a rebuilding phase?

surveParticipantWow. Did not see that coming.

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantFiring two assistant coaches for the team, D’Antoni and McMillan.

TRC1991Participant^ d’antoni resigned
good move, nate mcmillan was running a half-court offense with guys that flourish in a run-n-gun. it needed to happen, this team has suffered i believe 3 40-point losses this year…they just didnt compete

Lotto StudParticipantHe should have been gone. He tried to ban the Blazer headband tradition.

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantehh whatever D’Antoni was eventually going to get fired anyway. The funny thing about this is when the Blazers are done in this road trip, it would be a whole different team when they get back to Portland.

j2khitmanParticipantIt’s unfortunate. The Blazers should have been a western powerhouse if everything would have worked out for them. Who would have thought that Oden’s career would have been destroyed by injuries and Roy forced to retire because of injuries. The biggest mistake that the Blazers did make was when they fired their gm Kevin Pritchard three years ago. He was drafting great players and creating a nucleus with Roy, Aldridge, and Oden. The Blazers did the best they could for what they had. Nate did a great job teaching the young kids how to play the game. He also definitely helped with the development of Aldridge. Maybe the Knicks will give him a try

HitsterParticipantI wonder if Mike D’Antoni could be an option for Portland given he got the best out of Ray Felton last year and we all know that an uptempo system would suit the current roster.
I feel sorry for Nate as injuries robbed him of some great young prospects but like a lot of people I feel out of love with Portland when they fired Kevin Pritchard.

JNixonParticipantThis was real unexpected. But Portland has struggled this year tho

IndianaBasketballParticipantHe won’t be unemployed for too long.

HitsterParticipantWith regard to Nate, I wonder if Washington might consider him given the issues they have had with the roster this year. Nate is a well known disciplinarian and might be just what that team needs.

PulseGlazerParticipantIt was time for him to go, as it sometimes is, but he’s an excellent coach.

What The DevilParticipant@Hitster–I can see the pairing of McMillian and Blatche now…..oh god the horror
0 - Posted on: Fri, 03/16/2012 - 3:43am #647965
HitsterParticipantMcMillan would soon sort Blatche out, he’d either have to tow the line or he’d be out the door. I’d have also loved to see how long Blatche would have lasted under Larry Brown for example.
Nate McMillan probably needs a bit of time off to recharge his batteries but he’ll get NBA or College Head Coach offers in due course or at the very worse he maybe takes on a short term assistant role like Mike Woodson did this year.
