Kyrie Irving is the cover athlete for the NBA Live 14 game. NBA Live hasn’t been around in a while as 2K has owned basketball games.

    Thoughts on this?
Is anyone even considering buying Live anyway?

If it comes out on 360 or PS3, I’ll buy it! Wish they would bring back NCAA Basketball

NBA Live is going to be exclusively for next-gen consoles, the Playstation 4 and the Xbox One.

Sadly they fell off the gaming planet some time this last decade…My favorite features about NBA Live were the free style button and create a team…The gameplay always felt too fast for my taste and they started to lose my interest when Kobe Bryant Courtside and NBA 2K arrived on the scene…

With the technolocical gap 2K sports has built I could never see myself going back to EA Basketball games, I actually hate being forced into buying a EA sports branded Football game…Madden has been pissing me off for several years, the lack of competition has made them lazy and I honestly haven’t seen much improvement over the years

Ea sports used to the kings of simulation sports, Knockout Kings, Madden, Live and Fifa, hell Tiger Woods gulf and NHL were consistantly solid too

Exclusive contracts killed creative competition in American Football games, I pray the NBA/NFL/NHL/MLB/PGA/UFC games stay exclusive free in the future

I find this funny when Andre Drummond just posted instagram videos of Kyrie playing Paul George in 2k last night lol.

2k is clearly the better basketball game, and in my opinion its clearly been superior since 2006 when Shaq was on the cover. NBA Live 2004-5 were awesome games, and I loved the arcade style that was used in Live back then, but it’s nothing to what 2k has done. I appreciate the fact that live called it quits last year instead of putting out a product they knew they wouldn’t have been proud of. You don’t see that kind of honesty anymore in corporate America, so for that reason alone I’m going to wait for the reviews to come out before I make my decision.

I’ll take a look at some gameplay when it comes out, but for now, 2K is just too good.

As I have since NBA 2K11, I have pre-ordered a copy of NBA 2K14 for the PlayStation 4. To me, even though the game has some pretty flawed concepts, it is still one of the best basketball experiences that you can have while playing a video game. To me, NBA 2K is the NBA video game that I have come to know and really love over the past few years. However, I am still intrigued that EA Sports is finally back with a new NBA Live video game.

In my honest opinion, I am far too interested in accurate game modes and simulation-style basketball that I am interested in at least giving NBA Live 14 a go. I think we as a basketball community owe it that, because NBA Live used to be a damn good basketball series back in the day.

I’m not the type of guy who is going to sit here and tell you all to go out and spend $60 on a game that will probably be dominated by its counterpart, but I still think it is worth renting or buying at a lower retail price later on in it’s life span.

As of right now, I am not going to be purchasing NBA Live 14, but instead will focus on NBA 2K14. However, I would not be surprised one bit if I ended up with a copy of NBA Live 14 a little bit later on down the road.

I thought this was already pretty much announced. Wasn’t Kyrie the star in the first NBA LIve 14 commercial that came out a few months ago?

Still, pretty odd how 2K has LeBron and Live has Kyrie. Live fell from grace and now has Kyrie while 2K rose from the slums with LeBron… sounds a lot like Cleveland and Miami.

Personally, the thing that separates the two for me is the animation quality. I was a massive live homer until 2k11 came out. If you play NBA Live 10 then 2k the quality in player movement and what not is miles apart. When you run up the court on NBA Live you are hunched over and bounce the ball 2 feet infront of you, it looks ridiculous. 2k has got the animation and the general look of a basketball game right, and while there are some basic game play flaws, such as the way you cant block dunks and on D you can stand there swiping at the ball and hitting it multiple times without it knocking loose, it is still the gold standard for a basketball game. NBA Live is gonna need some big time improvements to everything 2K has done or it just wont be as good.

Why no hate for the Big N…

Here goes another Xbox One vs. PS4 Debate…Microsoft has invested too much money to fail…Too many features on the next Xbox to even consider buying a PS4 for a year or 2…
