NBA: More Likely Marshon Brooks being the next Kobe or Dion Waiters being the next D-Wade?
this comparisons rise from their similarity in looks and body movements when doing a signature move by either one of our favorite players in kobe and wade. it is not weird, as these two youngsters have probably modeled those particular moves from the other 2 all time greats. marshon; the fadeaway, his style of game, and perhaps the afro screams kobe. and waiters; the handles (splitting screens) and ability to finish at the rim when using the glass reminds me of wade, for example.
neither player has the athleticism to fulfill such shoes, wade and kobe are in a category of their own in that regard, putting them in an unreachable level. so it's not a possibility!
Well Marshon being Kobe obviously but this is kind of like on Family Guy when Brian is on trial for whether he should be allowed to see his puppies and they ask if he is a problem drinker or a magic picture that you stare at it long enough you see something, you have to say Marshon since it is one or the other but almost no chance he will be Kobe.
Waiters look like he might have a weight problem..In some Newspapers,blogs,talk radio,fans in Cleveland are already calling him the next John Bagley,another Cavs guard from the big east guard, that had problems maintaining his weight...I think Waiters will be a star,not in the same category as Wade...He plays alot like former player Jeff Malone...
Brooks doesnt have Kobe's intangibles,instincts or passion..He's bulit like him and often tries to imitate him..Brooks reminds me of a young Micheal Finley....Finley had a very good nba career....I was surpise the Hawks didnt get him in the Joe Johnson deal...
In 2 years i believe both kids will be among the top 10 shooting guards in the nba...
Brooks is an explosive scorer and can put up points in a hurry, so he has some things in common with Kobe, or that at least would remind you of Kobe a tad bit, plus he has the same built and lil afro to boot like Kobe had when he first came in lol.
Waiters has nothing at all in common with D-Wade lol I don't know why some people think he will be the next D-Wade, not even remotely possible in my eyes.
Not sure why he got negged so badly, he just wants to know which one we think is more likely to happen (even he admits neither are likely)
my answer would have to be dion waiters becoming d wade simply because we've already seen marshon brooks play and can rule him becoming kobe bryant out of the equation
Kobe was putting up marshons numbers at 19, Brooks is 23 so its not like he has a ton of potential he's more Jamal Crawford than Kobe. Waiters does not have the same athleticism,iq,handles, intangibles to be the next Dwade. He's more like Dominique Jones/ Rodney stuckey then wade
Actually, Kobe's numbers at 19 just destroy Brooks out of the water. Brooks got some shots up on a very bad team so his Points Per Game numbers are decent. Beyond that he can't carry Kobe's 19-year old jock.
They look a little alike and Brooks is also a scorer. That is where the similarity ends. Kobe is a Hall of Fame scorer. He was a dominant player in the league by his second year. His athleticism was breathtaking. Brooks looks like be belongs in the league, that is about it as of right now. He might someday be a good starter.
Brooks is going to average 12 points per game this season as Johnson is going to play 38 minutes a night. Brooks will get enough time to develop and show his stuff. But he will also be feeding the post to Lopez for a lot of that time. Hopefully he will shoot a higher percentage. But comparing him to Kobe is just silly.
I'm amazed that people are even comparing the likes of Dion Waiters and MarShon Brooks with Kobe Bryant and Dwyane Wade, don't get me wrong, Brooks looks like he'll be good NBA player but he won't be that special and as for Waiters, an NCAA sixth man who bypassed workouts and was very pedestrian in the summer league shouldn't even be compared to such great players.
It's insulting, Dwyane Wade and especially Kobe Bryant deserve much more respect than that.
I could understand the negs if the question was worded differently, like "which will happen." But it's "which is more likely to happen," which is broad enough to pose a decent enough question.
The more likely of the two is Brooks becoming Kobe.
I don't get why people are negging people with their answers.
It isn't like we are saying Marshon Brooks will be the next Kobe for sure, or Waiters will be the next Wade for sure.
All were saying is Brooks would be like Kobe before Waiters would be like Wade, Brooks has at least proved he can score in the L and is athletic and stands a wiry 6'6 like Kobe, Waiters hasn't shown a damn thing, he didn't even kill in SL, he isn't anywhere NEAR the athlete Wade was when he first came in the L, the only thing Waiters and Wade have that's similar is their height(6'3,6'4).
IT WILL NOT HAPPEN BUT which player has a better chance of becoming the next great 2 guard
