Let me start this off by saying I’m not a Tebow bandwagon I been a fan bcuz im a Hugh Florida Gator football fan. With that said lol. My question is have the NBA every had a player situation like the one Tebow is in? Meaning they was drafted higher then most critics thought they would go. Haven’t played a full season but has been most talk about player good and bad and on top of that went out and got Wins when most said he couldnt. My question is have we seen anything like this in the NBA?

I cannot think of a more Tebow like player in the NBA currently besides Jimmer. We will see how he does, but he has his share of backers and is almost the non-championship basketball version of Tebow. Hard to find a good NBA Tebow comparison, but Jimmer seems to fit the bill as far as having incredibly varying opinions on how his skill set will translate to the next level.

Now, if the Kings start winning with Jimmer running the point, than the Tebow thing goes to the next level. That being said, it is hard not to be impressed with the whole Tebow thing, but are you not just waiting for the bottom to fall out? I know I am. He is winning, but he has the sword of Damocles hanging over his head in the presence of John Elway on the sideline every game. Well, it is interesting while it lasts, I suppose.

Tim Tebow throwing a football is as ugly as Chuck Hayes shooting free throws.

I couldn’t pick someone out who’s been under those exact, very specific circumstances, no. But Tyler Hansbrough was drafted a bit high and exceeded expectations last year. Although, like Tim Tebow, it depends on who you ask.

Just because they are both highly religious, highly fanaticised, highly polarizing, over-achieving white guys does not mean that they are similar.  Fredette was expected to go as high as he did.

By the way, here’s an article I wrote, er, I mean, my grandson, Jacob, wrote for the school paper website:

I mean, no one really knew where Jimmer would go. He could have definitely slipped past #10, which I guess would be, "higher than most critics expected." I do not think skin color plays a part as much as religious belief and that kind of "big time college player with questions" thing. Plus, "Jimmermania" and "Tebowmania" were incredibly similar. Psycho T is sort of in the same mold, but I do not think people responded as much to him as they do to Jimmer.

Hansbrough was a fantastic college player and he went slightly higher than some expected, but I think Jimmer fits the bill more. Most of all, I think this debate is a tad ridiculous, but I think Jimmer is about the closest thing you will find to an "NBA Tebow". This not saying that Jimmer sucks at anything as much as Tebow does at throwing a football accurately. I guess Jimmer’s main draw back is defense, but if his team wins games at a better rate than last year, people will probably let it slide.

“I was surprised,” Curry said to Big Lead Sports about not receiving an invite to try out for the Olympic team. “I couldn’t believe it. I was very frustrated I didn’t get an invite, and I never got to have a conversation with them about it. Coach K and Mr. Colangelo put together a great roster for the World Championships in 2010, and I was fortunate to be a part of it and win a gold medal. I thought I played well and I thought I’d get a shot at making the Olympic roster, but it didn’t happen for me. I definitely had it in my sights. When they started making the decisions in April, I was out with the ankle injury, but the invite decisions came down before that.”

“Being amnestied from a team, being in the playoffs, getting to the second round, I definitely want to prove a lot, but in the right way, not individually,” said Brand. “I’m at a point in my career where I’m not worried about the individual stats, it’s just helping the team win and win big. That’s my goal and being apart of that.”t343

It has actually been a pretty remarkable run for the Celtics. It has not always been pretty, and it has had its share of controversy and heartbreak, but no one in 2008 would have predicted the Celtics would still be in the championship mix in 2013. But while the Celtics run as one of the NBA’s elite is not over, the era that started it all is.

His ascension to the role is perhaps the biggest story line in Boston. Doc Rivers has said it. Danny Ainge has said it. So have Garnett and Pierce. Everyone in Green is making sure the world knows that Rajon Rondo is the leader of this team. -0’p[

The guys not named Rondo are right about him stepping up in to a new role. He IS their leader. On the court, the ball is in his hands more than any other. He orchestrates offenses, often independent of Doc Rivers, who is content to let his point guard’s CPU process everything he sees before him. And like Garry Kasparov flying through move after move in his head before placing a fingertip on a bishop, Rondo cycles through options at a dizzying mental pace before actually triggering the offense. jyfy4r5

Rondo’s eyes may as well be motion-detecting cameras, picking up flinches, sideways glances, and missed assignments within milliseconds of them happening. And he has no qualms about letting anyone, from Kevin Garnett to Dionte Christmas, know that what’s happening, when it will happen, or why they missed it. k;9ip89

While expectations for Roy are relatively tempered considering he retired for medical reasons just over a year ago, Kirilenko is expected to be the same great player we saw for a decade in Utah. Kirilenko himself thinks those expectations are more than reasonable.

if he can find his rookie shooting form. Add in the return of three-point shooting wing Alan Anderson and the likelihood of sharpshooter Jose Calderon finding additional minutes in a two point guard lineup, and Ross’ opportunities to use his skill were under threat from day one. This Raptors’ training camp and preseason has been very competitive.
