Mike Morrison I love his game, but he is soooo inconsistent. He has very very good athleticism, but has no offensive game, and can't hit a free throw for his life.
Derrick Williams is a huge mismatch. HUGE. He's making 60% of his 3's, on 59 attempts. I had no idea. He hasn't played much D though.
Am I the only one that forgot Wesley Witherspoon played college sports? Seriously, where has he been this year?
I really love this Memphis teams future, all important pieces other then Will Coleman are returning, an they will be addind Adonis Thomas to the team. The team reminds me of that young John Wall KU team, although they obviously arent that talented they just remind me of that as far as potential, maturit, and upside goes.
Williams has really showed me something in his last 2 ballgames, he is a real clutch performer. he lost that last game to Washington but played great down the stretch. This time he wins the game on a block. Amazing.
Derrick Williams has a lot of talent, but he doesn't give it 100% of the time on the defensive end. He'll be a top 5 pick, but he is not a franchise player by any stretch. I would rather have Jared Sullinger, Harrison Barnes, and Kyrie Irving before Derrick Williams.
He just won the game on the defensive end.
I am well aware of that. Though, that's the way he needs to play all the time. You don't play that way all the time you won't be a great player on the next level.
Yeah Memphis has the look of a top 5-10 team next year. I'm not really sold on Josh Pastner as a head coach, but he will get better with experience though I'd hope. Memphis does need a jump shooter and a low post scorer though. Hopefully they've recruited to do so.
Texas A&M vs. Florida State was a dogfight, until FSU pulled out some kind of zone D (I think it was a 1-2-2) and Texas A&M struggled badly to get offense against it. Chris Singleton was rusty, but he still played a relatively good game. Florida State advances and face Notre Dame.
Iggy, I am watching that game too, pathetic for Kansas. I don't think Boston can keep up the great shooting though. Kansas will pull away, but it would be great to see #16 Boston upset #1 Kansas one of the best teams if not the best in the nation haha
so fricking pissed i have to miss the ucla/florida game tommorow. I have a state certificate exam that i cant miss. Not sure if i should tape the game and avoid the radio/phone all day till i get home. EIther way, i hate florida since they twice elminated the bruins from the tournament back during those final 4 runs. Any info on the gators other then chandler parsons who i know pretty well? Can the bruins bigs win the paint like they did against michigan state again?
Kansas pulls away like expected, but that was a bad 1st half. They missed a bunch of open shots. They advance though.
Xavier really is about to mess up my bracket. Don't ask why, but I have them going to the Elite 8. Yeah, my bracket is horrible.
I think UCLA could beat UF, but that will be an interesting game between 2 teams that play alot alike.
I think Malcolm Lee and Jerime Anderson could be a problem for Florida, who have small guards in the 5'6 Walker and 6'1 Kenny Boynton. Lee and Anderson are big guards who can defend both PG's and SG's.
What will be interesting is how UF will handle Josh Smith. I think Florida matches up well with Reeves Nelson as Alex Tyus is an athletic 6'9 225 guy at PF, but Macklin and Young will draw Smith. It will be a good matchup.
I like UCLA over Florida though. I think they have enough to hold off Florida.
washington vs georgia is one im really looking forward to. Lets see if isaiah can continue his magic from the pac 10 torunament.
wash and georgia tied at the half. Wash has to feel good about it though becasue they have been getting the better looks consistently and just missing, thomas struggling.
whats up with GTown? got beat first round last year as a 3 seed and now getting routed in first round vs VCU.
Thomas is too good for this level. I dont see why he cant play an Earl Boykins like role I really like him as a player. Probally wont crack an NBA lineup due to size, but wherever he decides to go he will be one of the best players in the league he is in.
thomas is a shorter version of nick van exel, identical twins if you ask me.
Dont look now but Indiana State is only down by 6, at the line for 2, and syracus is really on their heels. Cuse should pull through but its starting to look desperate. That kid Odom is playing great for them.
Nice comparison I like that alot. Both excellent leaders.
Trey Thompkins is a very skilled player. He's in that Jason Thompson or Channing Frye mold, but at best he could be similiar to David West. But he'd have to get tougher, which rarely happens. Still, good talent offensively.
Travis Leslie is the best athlete in the country. Hands down. I dont care what anyone says.
Dustin Ware gets praise all the time for how well he takes care of the ball (3:1 a/to), but he's not risky enough either. Sometimes Georgia's offense stagnates more than it should because he makes the basic plays too much when the big play to score is there. It holds them back as a team too.
Isaiah Thomas can get to the rim, but he needs to work on getting better shooting jumpers. He's decent, but not great as a shooter.
and to toot my own horn a little, i said back in october that the pac 10 top 4 would be 1-washington, 2-ucla, 3-arizona, 4-washington state. And 5 months later i stand behind those rankings 100%.
Thomas has been sticking big time jumpshots. He is a streaky shooter and definitely needs to work on that but he is such a great shooter when his team needs a baasket.
Thompkins hit a huge shot, I love the Frye/Thompson comparison. I dont see him slipping past New York. Thomas makes a great deflection to help end the game. Huskies advance and save me from yhaving a bracket meltdown lol.
decent start from the pac 10 going 3-1 in the first round, but now it will be ucla vs florida, arizona vs texas and washington vs UNC this weekend to see how good the conference really is.
Ive got Washington upsetting UNC which maybe a mistake...my bracket has Arizona and UCLA losing those games.
UCLA could beat Florida, Arizona doesn't have a prayer against Texas, and I have UDub upsetting Carolina.
Lost another Elite 8 squad in Xavier.
It's okay cuz it was to Marquette who has a ton of heart.
Ridiculous that they were an 11-seed to begin with.
Tomorrow's games my picks
Kentucky over West Virginia (Kentucky has more talent, but Huggins will have his team ready)
Florida over UCLA (I could see UCLA beating Florida, but I think Florida is making a deep run, and UCLA is a speed bump)
Gonzaga over BYU (Gonzaga is battle tested, and Jimmer will need to score 40+ just to make the game a contest)
UConn over Cincinnati (Kemba will prevail)
Butler over Pittsburgh (Butler outrebounded ODU, no reason not to believe they stick with Pitt, and get the W. Butler I can see going to the elite eight or final four)
Richmond over Morehead State (If Kenneth Faried can get 20 and 20 Morehead State will have a great shot at winning because Richmond struggles against good post players)
Wisconsin over Kansas State (Wisconsin is going to set the tempo early and control the game)
San Diego State over Temple (Just my gut, lol)

Malcolm Lee is playing very good. Looks like he might be a sleeper 1st round pick. Plays D and has great quickness and athleticism. Also Westbrook-esque length.
Lee reminds me so much of Westbrook, its not even funny
Reeves nelson has also impressed me...he can really get after it in the paint and finishes with contact pretty easily
Patric Young looks like a very inticing lottery pick, especially if he's paired with a offensive minded center. Great energy, defense, and he's shown some signs of a nice hook shot; also fast enough to cover the more versatile PF's in the league.
damn it bruins. Missed the game but saw the final score on my phone.
Young better stay for another year. he is wayyy to raw on offense and would get abused in the NBA. Bright future as a defender. Then again teams are dumb enough to pick him first round so why not go.
I really like Young. If he stays he could be pretty good coming out next year. His offense is super raw but he rebounds and defends well. He also seems really active.
was watching the replays of the bruin/gator game and barkely said the gators won becasue they had better bigs and dominated the paint. I found that a little surprising based strictly on the boxscore since the bruins 2 leading scorers were the pf and c while the gators 2 leading scorers were the pg and sg and the gators didnt outrebound the bruins or get more blcoks, they basically won the ft and 3 point categories.. Its pretty irrelevent but was barkley accurate or just talking?
I watched the game and saw how Josh Smith scored just about anytime he wanted when he was close to the basket. The bigs for Florida did no dominate at all. They did average down low scoring and most of the damage was done by walker. Tyus was killing on the boards but Young and Vernon really didn't do much on the boards
^ WTF are you talking about, fouls are fouls. You can't penalize the other team for calling the foul. Both calls were clearly fouls. You can't say let the players decide the games cause the players did decide the game(they chose to foul).
I think the fouls should've been called. Made it way more crazy of an ending.
On the UCLA-Florida game, llperez, Erving Walker WON that game, the smallest guy on the court.
I agree with quincey that Young would be foolish to leave. He does have a bright future if he stays another year or two though. I see it this way if Young leaves now he'll make money for 5 years, he stays another year he'll be set for LIFE.
On the Pittsburgh-Butler game that was a great great game.

Villanova choked. Bad. Good win by Mason.
That guy that dunked at the end of the game had all kinds of plays at the rim too. He is a great leaper. Reminds me of Quincy Acy of Baylor.
