ItsRainingNegsParticipantI needed an attention grabber, thought that might work. I live on the border of Lexington and Richmond, Ky and grew up a lifelong UK fan, but I have no bias. I actually thought he’d bust this year and that Poythress would be the team MVP (wrong). Nerlens Noel reminds me of one player and one player only and that’s Dwight Howard, defensively. Offensively Noel is not in Dwight’s air and his free throw shop mirror’s Howard’s, but defensively Noel looks like what Howard would’ve done if he’d had played his freshman year in college. Athletically Noel’s a 9 and Dwight’s a 10 but I think the height difference between the two honestly makes up for it. Noel is broad and has the room to gain muscle weight when put in an NBA strength program. Noel’s rebounding isn’t natural (at A&M a shot botched off the rim from the backboard point of view and Noel looked lost as to where it was going) but his shot blocking and athleticism? Howard esque. I know I listed off 4-5 differences and 2 similarities. I didn’t realize why Chad Ford had rated Noel #1 in the class until SEC play. In the NBA, defensively, I think he will be on Dwight’s pre-injury level.
Off note: Noel has an edge Dwight doesn’t. Against Louisville everybody looked so distraught (especially Harrow) except for Noel. It didn’t matter if we lost by 20 (not saying he’s a loser), he was there to let everyone know he was the most dominant/best player on the court and that was that.

ItsRainingNegsParticipant20, age is always a weird subject on forum boards. I’ve only been watching the NBA closely for the past two years, so I’m not going to be huge on comparisons or reminiscing about stories. Did see LeBron’s 48/Detroit game though. That was a masterpiece.

—————————————————————————————————————————————-Ahh that explains it. I was wondering why you said you’ve never seem Camby play when he was starting for most of last year and was pulling down 11.8 RPG and getting 2 BPG just three years ago.

omphalosParticipantChandler is every bit the help defender Howard is/was, although his post-D is somewhat lacking, and the attitude regardless of the score is something Chandler possesses also. I think 1st team All-Defensive team is a much more likely result than All-NBA first team.
I haven’t seen Noel play lately as the Kentucky team bores me a little, but after reading this I might have to give him a watch to see what all the fuss is about.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantJavale McGee with a higher IQ
edit: actually I take that back, not sure if he’s quite athletic enough, Camby might be a better comparison
