Was just thinking how much fun would it be for them to draft Nerlens Noel to team up with Davis. The NBA doesn’t really have true big men anymore it’s all about speed and movement up and down the floor. Would love to see them as a PF/C combo. Two 6 foot 11 dears running the floor. And on the defensive end…. Oh my God, forgetaboutit!

Unless Davis develops a serious post game I don’t think that duo would be good enough offensively. It’s certainly an interesting idea though.

Definitely would be a defensive nightmare for opposing teams

Surround them with shooters and thats a pretty good basis of a team.

I think you have to have a top 4 pick to get Nerlens. Really I only see McLemore or maybe Porter, who is on the .Net big board at 3 now. I can’t see a team passing on Noel for Smart, Shabazz or anybody else besides the two mentioned.

If N.O. gets a top 3 selection, I would love to see Davis and Noel on the court together. I wonder what would happen if 5 guys like that played together at the same time. Like Davis, Noel, MKG, Oladipo and Bledsoe. They wouldn’t make many jump shots but they would be fun to watch.

N.O. should have plenty of options if they are picking from 5 on, Shabazz, Bennet, Len, Zeller, WCS(if they are picking 8-11) all would be great moves. I don’t think Gordon or Aminu are in their long term plans and Rivers will never be a top 12 guy at his position, so I think they need a long term answer at the wing positions. But thats for the future right now, I think you draft a big they could play next to Davis and Davis is so good that he can play out or in, so you could go with Zeller, Noel or Len and still be in good shape. Robin Lopez is worth the deal he got and Len could be a replacement there, Lopez should net a late first round pick or at least some young assets.

New Orleans has a hard on for Eric Bledsoe if their lotto pick is #6 or lower won’t be surprise if they offer it to the Clips for Bled & the Clis 1st rounder. Bledsoe, Gordon, & Davis would be an awesome trio to build around.

It’s too late to trade for Bledsoe before the draft, he’s a restricted free agent at the end of the season.

Are you sure? I thought he was a restricted FA after 13-14 season.

You are right, I was wrong, Eric Bledsoe isn’t a restricted FA until after 2013-14.

youre not alone, i also have him on my mock going to the pelicans. mostly because Porter, Bazz and Bennet were all gone by then, but still. having big man depth is good to have, especially when half of your big man rotation were injured from stretches this season.

It would be team suicide to draft Noel unless it’s a much lower pick than the Pelicans. After two major surgeries on the same knee It doesn’t bode well for a long successful career.

It’d be fitting the Pelicans would have those kind of wingspans. ZING!…okay, don’t boo me, I know that was horrible.

I think with the Gordon questions, that if they get a high pick Ben McLemore, Oladipo or Shabazz should be on their short list. I even think Marcus Smart could play next to Vasquez, but I feel they need outside shooting to spread the floor and that’s not something Smart could really help with. I don’t think Al-Aminu is that good, or is going to get a whole lot better, so I think Otto Porter would be a really good option.

I think they should hold off on a center, and try to get a wing who can score. They only drop 94 ppg which is 23rd in the league, and they play okay defensively. Let Lopez be the anchor who gets 10 ppg and Jason Smith is actually a pretty good 1st big off the bench. They really need a guy who can put the ball in the hoop.

      Boooooo! Lol… I’m just kidding

But back to basketball. I think it’d be AWESOME if the Pelicans went after Pekovic (more of a veteran player, and has big size) and IMO, they should draft Ben McLemore if they have the chance. I don’t think Eric Gordon wants to be apart of this team. Maybe trade Gordon for Granger?

      Pekovic
      Davis
      Granger
      McLemore
      Vasquez

      What do you guys think?

I’d be a huge fan of that lineup. But if they don’t get Pek, I agree with JoeWolf that Jason Smith and Robin Lopez provide solid centre depth as it is.

I just hope Rivers can make a Kemba Walker style 2nd year jump and at least be able to contribute off the bench next year.

Noel is not what the Pelicans need. Davis is still raw offensively, Noel has shown no signs of developing a scoring game. Not to mention the Pelicans already struggle to put points on the board.

Jason Smith and RObin Lopez aren’t close to Noel’s shot blocking ability, or his ceiling…. But they aren’t bad defensively. In fact, the last few times I watched them they did a pretty good job manning the paint. So Noel, while an upgrade in a sense, is not what this team needs.

I don’t think Vasquez is the long term answer for NO at point guard. He’s too slow (It’s damn near like the game is too fast for him) and I just don’t like the way he manages a game. His time management is awful.

Small forward and point guard are the biggest needs for the Pelicans, not another big man. And Noel wouldn’t be a good fit anyway. You’d have to think that Otto Porter is at the top of their draft board. He’d be a significant upgrade over Aminu.

NO would have to get in the top 3 through the lottery to get Otto Porter, there’s no way he gets past Washingtons and Cleveland who both have glaring weaknesses at SF.

One of those teams would draft Porter and one would draft Muhammad if the draft order was set today.

I like Vaquez at point guard and I think if you pair him with Bledsoe, that could definitely work because Vaquez has the size of a two guard.

Vaquez is playing out of his mind and yet people knock him.

Also Rivers is there in New Orleans and his first year was subpar but I would wait until after his second year to judge him because he has gotten better throughout the year. New Orleans needs a go to player in the paint or just a super star player that can play the 2 or 3.

They have pieces though. I would like to see them move Gordon for a post player and possibly move this pick for Bledsoe.

I wonder if Phoenix will give us Gortat for Gordon.

Yeah I love Vasquez. The guy leads the league in assists. What really more do you need out of a PG?
Like Sheltwon said the guy`s playing out of his mind.
If they surround him with more scoring the guy`s gonna be 10+apg for years. He`s going to pass you the ball in the right spots. I don`t care how slow he is, so is Nash. And Vasquez has size. Not saying he`s Nash but the point is there.

If McLemore is there I think it`s a slam dunk. I also love Otto Porter for them.

Noel is a cool thought but too poor offensively with Davis, although its cool to think of. Realistically they`d need top 4 for any of them so if they stay where they are in the 5-7 range then Zeller or Bennett should be the choice IMO.

The frontcourt looks okay with Davis going to obviously take on more and more minutes, Anderson has a hefty contract and gives great 3 point range mainly as a bench guy and Lopez is a decent anchor in the paint. Vasquez and Rivers are good components around Gordon in the backcourt, so I’d agree that NOH should look for an SF or an SG/SF or swingman.

Olapido, Bazz, Porter and even Glenn Robinson would be all nice options as Aminu has not really nailed the SF role yet and competition would be good for him.
