So with the Hornets having two picks in the lottery who should they take?  I know one would be of course Anthony Davis and if they were to land 1 and 2 then second would be Michael Kidd Gilchrist

If they get the number one pick then AD is the no brainer. If the other pick turns out to be number 10 then they have to look at PJIII. That would give them a huge front line with those two rookies and either Chris Kaman or Jason Smith as the other big.

PJIII at small forward would allow them to bring Al Aminu off the bench and would make Trevor Ariza expendable.

At 10 there really are no sure things so they might as well go with the guy with the most upside at a position (oversized, scoring small forward) that they need.

I would like to see their lineup with Greivous Vasquez, Eric Gordon, Perry Jones, Jason Smith, and Anthony Davis. Tons of length along with some good scoring from everywhere.

well without the number 1 pick…I say they draft Drummond get that big time potential. worse comes to worse hes a servicable athletic big with strength (will develop into a good post defender) With that other pick PJIII wouldnt be a bad choice. that team needs some athleticism on the wing for the future (Arizas not workin out quite how they thought it would). Say Jones is gone I would look to a post scorer to go along with Drummond, maybe Sullinger?

They aren’t going to get the first and second picks. Not with the 3rd best chance and the 10th best chance of getting the first. Its highly unlikely, and if Stern does fix the lottery, like some believe, he wouldn’t fix it so that the Hornets have the first 2 picks. If he did do anything with last year and how Cleveland got both the 1st and the 4th, then he’s not going to do it again but this time do it even worse. So don’t even consider it.

#3 pick(in order) Davis, Drummond, Gilchrist, Robinson, Barnes.

#10 pick (in order) Perry Jones, Damian Lillard, Kendall Marshall, Jeremy Lamb, Terrance Ross

Note: I’m not saying that Lamb is worse than Lillard or Marshall, I’m just saying that because they already have EJ, they don’t really need Lamb or Ross but if the first 3 are gone then they should go for a SG in case EJ leaves in the offseason. Same with Gilchrist listed after Drummond.

but with the lottery you never know how it will fall.  I remember i didn’t think the bulls would get derrick rose and they did so almost anything is possible

I think Thomas Robinson would be a great fit in New Orleans. He seems like the "blue collar" type of player that Monty Williams would like. That’s if they don’t get the top pick.

Jarrett Jack is solid at the point, but they could use help there. Kendall Marshall and Damion Lillard would be nice fits.

I don’t know if Perry Jones is the right fit. He doesn’t play hard. The same goes for Andre Drummond, who just looks like a big body. They could gamble on one of these two though due to their upside.

AD if number one is falls our way.  If it is otherwise; Hornets need to draft Drummond and Kendall Marshall

Thomas Robinson and Austin Rivers (not a huge fan but they could use some shot creation and enthusiasm to the team)

With Kaman likely to move on, I’d assume they would take at least one big. As said above Davis would be a no-brainer and Robinson gives them immediate production and could allow them to amnesty Okafor if needed.

With Ayon turning into a serviceable big man, they could take a flyer on Drummond and allow him time to develop or maybe Myers Leonard with the pick from T-Wolves via LAC.

I would suggest that they take an NBA ready/low risk guy with one pick and maybe a higher risk/higher upside pick with the other one.

As a fun scenario would anyone consider 3rd and 10th as a trade for first pick to effectively get Davis.

The Hornets can use Anthony Davis but they could also use T Rob, MKG, or Harrison Barnes with their first pick.
Barnes and Eric Gordon would be two great options on the wing.

Eric Gordon is as good as gone.  Anthony Davis is the obvious choice for anyone, but I’m just not assuming they’re getting the number one pick unless Stern thinks they need it more than the Bobcats

I like the idea of Drummund or PJ3 but not both of them. Maybe they could take T Rob and Tyler Zeller. If they keep EJ that could develop to a nice team. They will still need a future PG. just and idea. They should look at players like Drummond, T Rob, Marshall, Sullinger, pJ3. Really they can upgrade every position except SG.

with 2 lottery picks, they def have the chance to gamble on either Drummond or PJ3…i actually like both of them but i wouldnt draft both of them…maybe PJ3 with their 2nd pick and if they cant get Davis, then MKG or T-Rob would be good

i was thinking they were drafting dru and pj3 before they sold the team, looking for potential to attract buyers.

but still, i think if im the owner i go for star potential… dru and pj3 and hope at least one turns into a star.

i also like the package of t-rob and rivers (if ej leaves it would make more sense)

I like to consider myself a draft expert of sorts and I have the perfect plan for the Hornets.  First I want to say that I assume the lottery goes as planned and they draft 3rd and 10th.  In this instance I would see them taking Harrison Barnes with the number 3 pick.  I assume the 2 studs (Davis, Gilchrist) will be off the board.  I like Barnes since I think he is a corner 3/ come of the pick and shoot kind of player.  Gordon is a create his own shot type of player so they would fit very well together.  Remember that Kaman is off the books and if the new owner wants to build for the future he will amnesty Ariza.  At 10 I think they grab Austin Rivers.  He is young and cocky and talented.  With these steps suddenly they roll out Jack, Gordon, Barnes, Okafor, Smith to start games and bring Vasquez, Rivers, Aminu and Ayon off the bench.  Barnes gives them a spot up shooter who can defend and rebound in the starting lineup and Rivers becomes the next and probably a better Jason Terry hot hand off the bench.  If they could somehow move Okafor to a contendor for something like say the Knicks for Amare.  Seriouosly who turns that down.  Suddenly the sky is the limit.

Why on earth would the Knicks trade Amare for Okafor???

Why does everyone think Eric Gordon’s gone from the Hornets? He’s an RFA, right? They can match any deal any other team offers him.

Eric Gordon could sign a one year extension and become a FA in 2013 but would he leave all that money on the table. I wonder if he might angle for the 5 year extenion that NOH could offer, or would they look to hold that back.

I don’t see the new owners wanting Gordon to walk, if he was adamant he didn’t want to stay there they could perhaps look at an S and T.
