New Orleans Pelicans Logo...What do you think of it?
Me too. I'm still hoping that Charlotte can get the Hornets name back now. I've never really liked the name Bobcats and when the Hornets were in Charlotte the city loved them.
I'm quite surprised... They hit a home run with the colors and that logo.
It's going to take me a looong time to get used to the damn Pelicans though.
The logo isn't bad. I still feel they should have gave the fans more input. i mean they're the ones who ultimately have to support the team. Welcome back Charlotte Hornets!
I never though I'd get used to the Thunder when they changed from Sonics but I did so I'm sure this won't take long for me. I don't really think any opposing player is ever going to be intimidated by the logo or mascot from the other team. Who is scared of the Celtics leprechaun?
I got used to the Thunder's name pretty quickly too...although for years every time I saw Kevin Durant play I felt bad for Seattle. They draft a guy who's at his young age now is already a superstar and they lose him because the new owner moved the team, eh.
The Sonics were never one of my favorite teams though while the Hornets were my favorite when they drafted Alonzo Mourning and had the awesome team with him, LJ, and Mugsy Bogues. I think that will make it a bit harder for me, but hopefully the Hornets name will return to Charlotte.
At first, i hated the name, but the Pelican does mean a lot to the city...it represents a lot, and if you dont think Pelicans are vicious, do some research. The logo is pretty good, although if you google "New Orleans Pelicans" there are some amateur logos that look just as good...
All in all, im a fan of the name-change as a whole...I like the Hornets name but it really had nothing to do with New Orleans.
The design is cool I guess. Reminds me the current ATL Hawks logo.
For as strange as the Pelicans choice might sound, to me it didn't require a whole lot of creativity or feedback.
They wanted something to represent the state, but I think they took that too literally. They didn't even need fan feedback or suggestions, all they had to do was look up the state's symbols.
What is the state bird? The brown pelican.
What are the state colors? Blue, white and gold.
Check... and check.
I'm surprised they didn't manage to throw a Leopard Dog with a magnolia in it's ear and a crawfish riding an alligator in the background with their state flag as the backdrop.

Siggy in rare form CTFU good stuff. I agree about it being too literal and it's really the "brown pelican" yet they somehow missed putting brown in their color scheme.
I'm not sure if this is going to be their new jersey, but here's an idea of what it could look like.

That's a cool looking jersey, but why isn't there blue incorporated into the jersey? And the numbers on that jersey are identical to the ones on the Hornets jersey... I don't think they're going to keep it the same.
I REALLY like the name and logo of the team. The colour scheme is awesome and the logo is fantastic. I wonder how their jerseys are going to look like.
If anyone wants information on why they chose the Pelicans, here is a link:

After watching the video, it makes sense why they chose the Pelicans lol.
It looks like the Hawks logo, with the bird holding it in the center.
They knocked the logo design out the park, it reminds me of the Mavericks and T'Wolves style logo.
The only thing I don't like about it besides Pelicans having too many syllables is the red. Red and blue color schemes are so cheesy and cliche unless you're the 76ers or the Patriots and therefore really have no choice but to incorporate them colors and even the Pat's changed from the traditional red and blue.
The success of the team always defines the success of the name. Think how stupid the Lakers name sounds, when not associated with championships and Hall of Famers. Although I was not a fan of the name, I think the success or failure of the franchise will determine the fate of the name.
IDC, about the name. As a Hornets fan and season ticket holder, the new color way and the 5 logos excite me.. Especially the Bird-De-Lis!! Wow. I also as a louisiana native I know the significance of the name so I don't mind it.
Tony Montana likes.
They need to pay Utah to get their name back because as a person originally from New Orleans, I think their name and their uniforms suck. Their Hornets Jersey looked tight but this looks stupid. They should just change names with Charlotte and be the New Orleans Bobcats which would sound better and look better than Pelicans. I personally would have like New Orleans Gumbo, New Orleans Gators, New Orleans Crawdads. New Orleans Crabs would have even be better and seemed stronger than Pelicans.
Until they become better I don't want to even see this team play in those jerseys.
I guess I am really the only one who is not that big a fan? It is well done, especially to NOLA but I just love the originality of incorporating that aqua color and making it work. Hopefully Charlotte goes back to the Hornets, takes the Wiz approach and good old school with the jerseys with a little new school
The color scheme. Look forward to getting one of those jerseys now. I'm not a fan of the team, lol but I got some Air forces to rock something like that for a day or two out of the year.
I like the logo. The Nickname is not terrible. But The New Orleans Pelicans just does not seem to roll off the tongue right.
The Louisiana Pelicans seems to work better for me for some reason.
New Orleans Pelicans still doesn't really sound right. Is Pelicans even a New Orleans thing or just a Louisiana thing?
I think the Louisiana Pelicans sounds a little better for some reason.
Great logo but don't like the name. It would be nice for Charlotte to get the Hornets name back and I think MJ would want that as he'd remember the Lonzo-Johnson double trouble front court.

The New Orleans Pelicans Logo was released today. I just wanted to see what people thought of it. I personally like it, it's a well designed logo.
