andxxxParticipantI don’t necessarily agree completely with the rankings but I do like the write ups and thought it would be good to share.

Paceway31ParticipantIMO Wade is not nearly a top 30 player all time

Tight ButtholeParticipantIt looks as if this new list is also ranked, and if thats the case, Im not sure I would have LeBron ranked higher than Kobe. Maybe at the end of their careers, but not now.

c’mon craigParticipantdef can’t rank lebron ahead of kobe

anthonymatthew24ParticipantWhen I saw Kareem Abdul Jabbar was #2 on the list I just stopped reading… Dont get me wrong He is definitely top 5, but over MAGIC!!! I mean come on…
0- Posted on: Mon, 07/02/2012 - 9:47pm #691674
NYK2010ParticipantKareem is better than Magic problem ppl have is Magic is the best PG and ppl will argue that Russell was the best Center becaz he won so many titles.
Magic wasn’t nearly the defender at his position like Kareem who made All Defensive team 10 times and Magic made none.
15 yrs he finished top 5 in the MVP voting and 9 times averaged over 4 asts a game.
Clearly he was the better overall player then Magic.

andxxxParticipantI agree that Kobe deserves to rank higher because of longetivity, but when you look at their comparison of Lebron vs Kobe. I never realized how much better Lebron’s stats are compared to Kobe and how close they rank in other cases even though Kobe has played much more games.

ChewyParticipantWade as the 23rd best player of all time is an absolute joke! (and I’m from Chicago). Also, screw the MVP’s I still say J Kidd was a better PG than Nash.
0- Posted on: Mon, 07/02/2012 - 7:38pm #691654

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantYour sticking up for wade cause he’s your hometown guy Its like every Lakers fan saying Kobe had a better season than LeBron pure ignorance, I think 23 is just right for him considering all the injuries he’s had
0- Posted on: Mon, 07/02/2012 - 7:44pm #691656

ChewyParticipantwere you talking about my comment? If so I think 23rd all time is waaaay too HIGH for Wade. No way do I put him in front of players like Stockton, Isiah Thomas, Gary Payton, Patrick Ewing, Scottie Pippen, Allen Iverson and Pistol Pete.

Sewok15ParticipantMy thoughts exactly…how can Clyde Drexler be 28 and Pippen 38?

iguapops420ParticipantIgnorant fucking list. Kobe at 15? A joke, individual awards mean nothing. Lebron had to team up with another superstar and a all-star and have the absolute perfect roster put around him to win a title. KOBE managed to win the title 5 times. I don’t care if he shot poorly every fucking game of the finals, the way that he steps up in the finals defensively and helping on the boards shows me why he is truely great. Not to mention, you can go through and look at percentages all you want, but not even MJ himself got guarded the way Kobe does. Go back and watch tape, highlights, whatever and you will never see Kobe getting guarded simply one on one on a final shot attempt whereas LBJ consisteny; gets 1v1 on final shot and throughout games. Hell, even MJ’s greatest shot of his career vs. Bryon Russell was single coverage. Year after year Kobe gets belittled and cast to the side and overlooked. Like I sai last year when everyone on here tried sayi8ng he wouldn’t even average 25ppg I said then, people saying these things, Kobe sees and listens to everything we and the media says. It’s only fuel to his fire to win and quite the critics.
Get the M’Fers Bean. Bring us another home in spite of everyone saying you’re old and can’t win anymore, that it’s a young man’s league, and in spite of your managements inability to build any type of bench and complimentary stars.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantYou don’t know what your taking about, Kobe winning 5 titles by himself??? Hello theirs 4 other people on the court and shaq had more of an impact on their 3 titles than Kobe, remember when shaq left? How many titles did he win?0 he tried to leave the Lakers by asking for a trade in 06 so don’t get on LeBron about leaving. Kobe didn’t win his other two titles until pau came to town. How many teams won a title with just one great player?0, magic had worthy, Jordan had pippen, olajuwon had drexler, Paul pierce had Ray Allen and Garnett. You NEED more than one great to win a title period

LerinErinParticipantYou hate Stockton and think he is not top 50 of all time… But think LBJ best player EVER…. I don’t even know if you are serious…
My head may explode if you truly think that if James never played another game he already qualifies as best ever.

druneave3ParticipantIs my opinion on who I think the BEST ALL-AROUND BASKETBALL PLAYER is and is based on 1. talent 2. all-around basketball ability 3. basketball athleticism (physical ability – what is allows them to do on the court) 4. who effects the game the most 5. winning basketball games 6. my projections- if player played a long NBA career 7. from player stories and what they say about other players This list is not based on who had a better NBA career, and what they acomplished – obviously I have Sabonis 4th. If Sabonis, Bill Walton, Drazen Petrovic, and many others would have played long NBA careers, people’s list would be much different. Sabonis won Player of the year in whatever league he was in multiple times, Finals MVP, several Championships. Murdered David Robinson while beating USA in 88′ gold medal game–( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06usV6451ik ) First game in the NBA he was 35 and coming off a devasting ankle injury. Bill Walton said Sabonis was by far the best big man of all-time. He called him a 7’3 athletic Larry Bird due to his unique court vision, shooting range, rugged in-game mentality, and versatility. To call me crazy for having Lebron #1, I say look at the HISTORIC numbers he has put up the last several years. If I was picking a team for a pick up game I would pick Jordan due to the compitition factor- his desire to beat you at whatever you were competing at (cards, golf, baseball), and his will to win. However, my opinion is that Lebron is a better all-around basketball player. He is bigger, faster, stronger, and he does more things better on the basketball court- passing, defending, rebouding, getting to the rim. Jordan- better scorer, and the competition factor. A lot of that competition factor is due to their personality. Jordan was an jerk and wanted to kill you. Lebron is a nice guy and wants to be liked. As far as Stockton goes, if I was picking a team I would choose a ton of point guards over him to go up against Stockton. You cannot tell me that John Stockton would win the match-up between him and Derrick Rose!! Crazy to have Rose at 30? Youngest MVP ever, historic playoff numbers, dominated basically every match up in an era of amazing point guards. It is impossible to compare generations and I never saw a lot of older players obviously but as human existence continues and evolution is producing people who are bigger, faster, and stronger, I have to think that older players would not make it in today’s league due to lack of athleticism alone. I put Bob Cousy for good measure but I think he might have difficult time mathing up against Russell Westbrook. Dwight Howard would kill George Mikan, and so on. I could be wrong though. It also works out that if I were picking a team to win one game- the top 5, would be my team. I challange you to come up with a team that could beat this team….
PG- Lebron James
SG- Michael Jordan
SF- Kobe Bryant
PF- Hakeem Olajuwon
C- Arvydas Sabonis

iguapops420Participant@igetbuckets99 ………can you please post anywhere in my post that I said Kobe won by himself? I see not one place where I said that. All i said was that he shot 41% because he consistently has been double and triple teamed for entire games and for the better part of his career, ALL he’s EVER had was a second guy. Kobe has rarely had great supporting players around he and his greater players. You saw what happened to LBJ,Wade, and Bosh when they didn’t have the right supporting cast(though still pretty good). They didn’t win shit. Kobe’s 3rd best player prior to pau coming to town was Derek Fisher. That’s simply ridiculous. Kobe had a great supporting cast one time IMO and that was in 2009 when he had Ariza, LO, Sasha,Farmar. The year before was actually fairly decent as well with most of those same guys minus Ariza due to injury and add in Turiaf, but the C’s put a constant double on him and dared anyone else to make a basket. Only one game did that happen and it was Vujacic going for 22 I believe. Pau and LO both punked out and Bynum was simply gone.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantYour talking about kobes team look at lebrons team in any year he was in Cleveland, who was the third best player on the team in 07? Kobe has always had a good supporting cast how many teams have two skilled seven footers? Not many and your talking about Kobe faced way better defense than Jordan, are you kidding me? The league has gotten soft you can’t tap a player without getting a foul called in todays game Jordan had to play through getting handchecked in his early years and getting fouled hard with no whistle being called

FastAndFuriousParticipantAs i always say with these type of debates, the top 5, maybe 10 is very debatable besides of course the top spot Mike J, but 2-10 is very debatable for the most part so I don’t knock anybody for their list.
But one thing for sure, Lebron James is on track for something special and that ring has just made it even sweeter.

Sewok15ParticipantI had to laugh at the honorable mention….Nick Anderson…Mike Bibby…..Juwan Howard…and of course the great Stephon Marbury. I am surprised Steve Francis couldn’t get an honorable mention.

iguapops420Participant@igetbuckets I never said LBJ’s teams were the greatest, but every single one of those teams were designed to fit the perfect match for LBJ’s style of ball-dominant play. STand around and wait for a jumper and then get back and defend.; And there is a reason on those teams he only made it to the finals once and got swept at that. Talking about Kobe and LBJ’s teams being not that much different is a big debate as Kobe managed to take his teams to the finals 7 out of 12 years winning in 5 of those albeit with the help of Shaq and Pau. As for having two skilled seven footers, all that size and talent is negated when you fail to put shooters around those igs because otherwise teams can just play off of the perimeter players and collapse onto your post presence i.e. Bynum/Pau just as Dallas and OKC did the past 2 years. Again, in both posts I never once failed to mention that Kobe played with another great player, simply that those great players had nearly no supporting cast around them. Having no supporting players negates great players talents because they arent able to play to the best of their abilities. Case in point is LBJ, the perfect team of supporting players has been put around him now excpet now he’s got the other greats to go with him. Even though it took him 2 of them instead of one. And this isn’t an argument of who had the greater team, simply who has had the better career as a op 50 player and as of now, Kobe has the individual accomplishments and the titles/finals appearances. MVOP’s matter not to me when you can put up MVP seasons but still manage to get the final W. If LBJ continues his dominance over the league during the regular season and remains a champion and keeps the longevity of Kobe, I will gladly say he’s above Kobe, but to say Kobe is below him right now, and not even top 10 is simply underrating and downplaying what Kobe has done for the keague. He is in part what saved the league after Jordan left. People are simply nev er going to give him the recognition he deserves.
