No love for BJ Young
He's an undersized shooting guard with no point guard skills. He can score but its tough to label him as a combo guard seeing as he doesn't have adequate point guard skills, which really hurts his stock. Someone is going to take him in the 2nd round due to his scoring ability
They said the EXACT same things about Jeff Teague coming out of Wake Forest a few years ago (their games are very similar) and he is putting up career assist numbers right now not even getting career high in minutes. Take a chance, let a guy develop in the league not everything is a red flag just because he can't do this or that RIGHT now.
How about Roddy Beaubois?
I think one of the reasons why Young has slid in his rankings was because he was suspended for conduct to begin the season. This is a kid who barely played any HS basketball at all for a number of reasons. Not only is he a super skinny, undersized shooting guard, but there were character concerns as well. Him getting suspended kinda brought those red flags concerning his character back up.
You know, BJ Young to me is the hardest player to evaluate in the entire draft. Im not sure where to project him because he is someone that can totally impress with his scoring skill set or can scare you away a little with his weight/ position issues.
He can develop into one of the best players in the entire nation. Lets take in consideration that as a tweener he is 6'3 and there are plenty of successful SG's/combo's able to play at that height if the strength is there.
If i was him i would stay in school and put on some weight.
Last year Young had a breakout Freshman campaign to end up putting him in discussion of the 2012 Draft class, because he was flirting with declaring. This year he is averaging 17.5ppg 3.5rpg 4.0apg and is not in the 2013 Mock at all not even as a 2nd rounder. Why is it that Young is not getting any 2013 consideration?
