goneParticipantNo thread?
I missed the first half
NY getting murdered on the boards
Melo going to work
Would the knicks have been better off drafting Faried or Shumpert?

Charlie SheenParticipantShumpert is a better fit remember no STAT for NY today, refs killin New Yorks momentum, LeBron playing like a female, Melo bein Melo

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantWhat has happened to the Heat these last two-three weeks? They’ve played as if their talent alone is going to win them the game and it hasn’t. Teams are giving the Heat their best shot and the Heat are content with playing 85%.

TallmanNYCParticipantStill a 2 point game with 8 minutes left despite Melo going nuts. Good game so far.
Faired over Shumpert? Of course! Shumpert is playing great, but Faired is already one of the top power forwards in the game (despite the fact that he doesn’t play a lot of minutes or even start very often).

goneParticipantI can’t speak for other teams but the Knicks are acutally good at home so give them some credit 11 in a row to be exact

Stevenwhen steve novak is on the court. it either really helps the team or really hurts the team. for example, today. he couldnt get open. so what was he doing at all helping the knicks out? nothing, hes not a good defender, and he doesnt rebound well. same kind of goes for JR smith. so having them both out on the court the same time when they werent doing much really hurt. i for one, rather have novak though.

TallmanNYCParticipantNo matter how hot Melo comes out at the beginning of a game, you can be pretty much sure he is going to finish shooting about 50% or so at best.
New York still needs more production from the point. It might be time to reach into the D-league for a J. Lin replacement. There was a shocking thing said by one of the announcers during the game. Apparently Baron Davis told an announcer he can’t even dunk anymore. Seriously, he is 6′ 3" and he now lacks the hops to dunk. I’m not saying that dunking is important for a PG, but you know athelticsm is pretty darn important to play in the NBA. Heck, there probably aren’t a lot of 6′ 3" guys playing quality division III programs who can’t dunk. It should only take a guy his size about a 30" jump to dunk. If he doesn’t have that anymore, that’s a problem.

Stevennot disagreeing with you ^, but id be suprised if Nash can dunk.

TallmanNYCParticipantYou might be right and it is a good point that you don’t need hops to be super effective, but Nash is a much better shooter than Davis. Davis’s game is much more dependent on his athletic ability. If he doesn’t have that, he has strength and some court vision, but not much else. Also, Davis probably had a near 40" vertical in his prime. I doubt Nash has lost anywhere close to 10" of hops.
On a per 36 minute basis Davis is giving the Knicks 10 points, nearly 9 assists, but also 4.6 turnovers and 37% shooting. I really can’t believe the Knicks are sticking with the plan of going into the playoffs with a one-two punch at PG of Davis and Bibby. I don’t think even the biggest Melo fan can possibly believe that he can overcome carrying these guys. And don’t tell me that the Knicks are going to bailout to Shumpert at PG. Playoff basketball and rookies is not a good mix.
But it is too late to do anything about it now, I suppose.

aamir543ParticipantI thought I posted earlier, but what I said was that even though Faried is a great, the Knicks need a perimter defender, because without a perimeter defender their defense would be even worse. I wrote this right before Shumpert fot those 2 straight steals.
And just a prediction, someone on the Mavs is going to get fined because someone, a coach, player, or most likely owner because they all looked furious at those calls.

PulseGlazerParticipantIf the Knicks had amnestied Amare to keep Chauncey, then and only then does Faried make more sense than Iman. I still think Faried becomes a better player than Iman long term, but Iman is a far superior fit.

aamir543Participant^I know you were just thinking of a hypothetical situation, but there was no way the Knicks would’ve amnestied a guy coming off a 25 and 8 season, and considering Amare was he only one willing to go to NY, I don’t think they’d amnesty him unless he becomes really injury riddled, like shell of his former self bad, hopefully he’ll go back to old Amare, even 19 and 8 for the next couple years would be fine.

gay fishAt 6’3" is doesn’t take 30 inch vertical to dunk you moron. if you are 6’3" your reach goes at least to about 8’8" so you need to jump 1’2" or 14 inch to touch the rim and about another 5 inches to dunk, 19 inches jack@ss.

Well that could have been handled a little more nicely….

NYK2010ParticipantVan Gundy had some good pts when it came to the flopping.
Especially when the guy is so blatant about it, this isn’t WWE.
The league needs to do something.
As for the game, Woodson messed up can’t keep JR and Novak out there for so long.
Baron Davis was given too much of a rest in the 4th qtr and the offense struggled, can’t expect Mello to do all the scoring.
For some reason Woodson took Shumpert out after the 2 steals early in the 4th that hurt the defense.
In the end too much of the big 3, w/out Amare the Knicks offense needs another scorer or to hit 3s.
Neither happened and they lost despite a good effort for the most part.

PulseGlazerParticipantThe Knicks beating the Heat, much like anyone beating the Heat, really, depends on board dominance and great perimeter D. The Knicks can do both, but rarely seem to for a whole game.
