sammybuckeye13ParticipantDetroit has too many wings as is (Rip, Stuckey, Gordon, Prince, T-Mac) and here they’re just adding another when what they really need is help down low. This would also leave the Raptors without a true point guard on the roster. Would Memphis start Igu at the 2 and Gay at the 3? That could actually be pretty sick.

Scottoant93Participantthat would be sick to have gay and iggy on same team but would it be effective since they are basically the same type of players. Also for the trade rip would take pt from turner which the point of trading iggy is free pt for turner and put ball in his hands more

I May Be WrongParticipanthttp://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=33swqal
PLUS a Magic first round pick to the Hornets
Orlando gets the PG they NEED to be successful and get over that hump. I like Jameer but Paul will make everyone around better. I watched CP3 against the Sixers yesterday and you just gotta feel bad for the guy who makes things easier for his team but the hornets are NOT a good team. They are average to me and I think CP3 wants out badly! And Trevor Ariza would benefit so much by not having any pressure to be a scorer like the past two seasons. He can go back to getting key steals and defending players like Pierce, LeBron, etc. etc.
The Hornets can start over but at the same time, still be somewhat competitive. Jameer, Belinelli, V.Carter, West, and Emaka might not be championship material but they won’t be an easy win for any team playing. Then, in a couple of years, they’ll have some financial stability and can rebuild the team through the draft.
Any opinions on this trade idea?

Lotto StudParticipantAccording to the trade machine Iggy improves Memphis by 6 wins and he will play the 2 while Gay plays the 3.
Rip going to Philly would be a excellent move, because Turner can play the back up PG role while Lou Williams does what he do best score off the bench. Turner needs to become a distributor. 1st unit backcourt Jrue & Rip 2nd unit Turner & Lou.

mikeyvthedonParticipantIt is not bad, but it feels like Philly and Toronto get the bad end of the deal, and the talent goes to Memphis and Detroit. Mayo would be an upgrade for Detroit, but they already have a big stable of SG’s, they would have to do something about that. Calderon I do not at all think would be the answer at PG for the Pistons, he is a tough pill to swallow, even if it brings you OJ. Iguodala would probably be making to much for Memphis to want to bring him in, so I even think that could end it right there. I could see the Raps taking a flier on Thabeet and eating up Wilcox’s contract, so that might indeed work, and I would love for them to let Calderon walk, but again would be really surprised if the Pistons take him on. Philly does get the worst part of the deal, I love Rip Hamilton and he is a player you never mind having on your team, but he is not getting any younger with 3 years left on his deal. It will be very hard to trade Rip, and if the 76ers did finally pull the trigger on dealing Iguodala, I highly doubt they would want Rip’s contract. I have seen worse deals, but I could see this deal causing issues with every team involved, be it logistics or financial.

sammybuckeye13ParticipantI don’t think Iggy and Gay are all that similar. As far as SF’s go they’re actually very different. Gay is a very pure scorer and a much better and more confident shooter, especially on the move. He’s averaging 33% more ppg. Gay is a great athlete; he’s very smooth and relies heavily on his length and fluidity. Iguodala is a great athlete; but he’s two inches shorter and therefore relies heavily on his strength and relatively low center of gravity in many cases. Iguodala is also MUCH more focused on getting his teammates involved, and while though Gay’s defensive numbers are better, Iguodala is still the superior defender.

HitsterParticipantJust looked at Detroit and Philly deals, I wonder if Philly do want to move Iggy then whether they might accept Prince’s expiring deal with a young piece and a future pick for Iggy?
A fun one on the trade machine is Brand and Iggy for Prince, Hamilton and Wilcox. This improves Detroit by 6 wins and makes Philly 6 wins worse off. But Philly move their two biggest earners and get a couple of nice expiring deals alongside Hamilton so can start over. Detroit get a legit PF and an SF upgrade and can then look to try and allow the younger guys to develop whilst having a stronger starting 5 so it kinda makes sense.
Anyone got any further ideas on a Toronto and Memphis trade? Mayo to Toronto or even Thabeet would be interesting options but unless Toronto send some good picks I cannot balance it out as they surely want to keep DeRozan.

apb540ParticipantNice trade. Orlando might have to throw the Griz a first rounder but I like it. I always thought Bass could be a decent starter in the league.

The8thDeadlySinParticipantMemphis does it because Buki is a legit defender.. Randolph is the insurance for Randolph leaving… Turiaf is a great backup for Gasol… They get some great role players to go with their great starting lineup… All they need is to gell and have people fit in the right spots…
