How good can he be if he reaches his potential? I’ve heard some people call him a 6-4 Kobe. What are his main strengths and weaknesses? …Grizz games are never on here and I never saw him at USC so I don’t know much about him

Well the 1st time I ever seen him play on t.v.was in HS against Corey Fisher & he dropped like 47 pts…… that’s self explanitory.

I see OJ as a Gilbert Arenas type player if he reaches his ultimate potential. Bigtime scoring threat, adequate defensive capabilities paired with a superstar mentality: Young guy has a bright future in my opinion.

PS. His transition to playing full-time PG will be an interesting story to follow. I can see him being fairly successful as a PG, much like Agent Zero was a few years back. Chauncey Billups also comes to mind.

im a Memphis fan i live n nj but league pass is a hell of a drug… n oj is a mix of a lot of players he has kobe dog in him that its never over no quit pull up the shorts n dig n on defense attitude with the best jumper to come into the league beside s. curry…. he is very athletic but isnt rose westbrook explosive he is more a smooth athlete like kobe where he doesnt get off the ground super quick but he gets up very high.. talented scorer probably one of the best 15 one on one players in the league he has a ton of moves…. very unselfish he brought into a team concept this yr and scored almost a point less while taking less shots and improving his fg to 46% and his 3point to 38%…. he wants to play pg so he will play in the summer league.. like rose he doesnt draw a lot of fouls yet they both get there around 3 times a game.. a little turnover prone he tries to do too much instead of jus making the easy play… if he can move to the pg spot he be a top 10 player in a couple yrs if he stays at the 2 top 15 to 20…

Kobe was very explosive when he was younger or OJ Mayo’s age. I wouldn’t say Mayo is anything like Kobe when kobe was his age in terms of athletic ability..

He’s not the Leaper that wade is but they have very similar skill sets…He’s a better shooter than most give him credit for…Because he can play pointy guard doesn’t make him a point guard….If he is he’s still a top ten Pg…But I think he can be a Sg and be a damm good one too…Top 10 Sg if he decides to be a Sg…

I think OJ may be playing this contract out though…I have always seen him in a different uniform…

I wouldn’t even say Mayo is a Roy type of athlete. Roy can finish above the rim… Not to mention he can take contact and finish. Those are things Mayo doesn’t show.

“like rose he doesnt draw a lot of fouls yet they both get there around 3 times a game.”

Rose shoots over four free-throws per game, but the reasons for him and Mayo not getting to the line are completely different. Defenders just can’t touch Rose… Mayo doesn’t take it to the rim.

Mayo is going to be a good player, but let’s stop mentioning Kobe and even Arenas in the same breath as him. Arenas was averaging damn near 30 points and dominating games before his knee injury… He was getting to the line ten times per game. That’ll never be Mayo.

Mayo Is The Truth Man . . His Game Reminds You Of Different People . . His Mid Range Game Is Great Just Like Kobe . But He Also Has Deep Range Like Arenas . . Has That Dog In Him . . Expect Great Things From Him

I think Billups is the most realistic ceiling for Mayo. While it doesn’t have the scoring accolades and admiration of a Kobe or an Arenas, Billups is still a great player to be compared to.

Just cause i have him on my avatar im not going to biased and say hes the next Kobe. OJ Mayo is a scorer but like a poster above stated he isnt going to be 30 a game, therefore he reminds me more of a Cuttino Mobley just a slightly better scorer.
