Now this is strictly my opinion and while I think the Magic have benefited somewhat from that major trade that involved them getting Richardson, Hedo and Gilbert I feel as though they gave away some key players that may have not put up major stats, but their impact was very beneficial. Those two players were Mickeal Pietrus and Marcin Gortat. Yes two players who I feel gave a lot to this Orlando team, Pietrus was their best perimeter defender and guarded the likes of Lebron and Kobe and never backed down, he came in and did what was asked of him, defend and hit threes, sure the Magic have more capable scorers with Hedo, Richardson and Arenas but Richardson and Arenas have been so inconsistent and most nights do not really do too well on the defensive end leaving Howard frustrated having to do all the defensive work. Hedo I admit fits the Magic’s system perfectly so no complaints there really.

Now for Gortat, obviously with Howard you are not going to be playing that many minutes per night, but him being on that team allowed Howard to come out of games and rest or if he was in foul trouble, Van Gundy even sometimes went to a bigger lineup and put Marcin at the PF and Howard at the C to give the opposing teams matchup problems, Gortat was a solid big man and without him it really leaves a big hole down low for the Magic and make them rely even more on Howard everynight to perform. Their depth down low is not that good and come playoff time against teams like the Celtics with a froncourt that consists of KG, Perkins, Shaq, Jermaine, and Big Baby, that is a major problem especially for Howard with all of them switching off defending them ( obviously not KG but you get the point)

I feel as though they might have upgraded scoring wise with their new acquisitions, so far Arenas has shown flashes of being solid as has Richardson but what Pietrus and Gortat brought to this team goes beyond just stats and as of now I feel as though that it is sorely missed. What are your guys thoughts?

I love the new Orlando squad. How they caught the Heat sleeping with all those three point shots. But in the end bro, their defense has suffered a big blow. Howard was always the anchor for their defense. But he had Pietrus and Rashard lewis as well. I don’t know if this team can beat the Heat in the play offs bro. Or the Boston Celtics for that matter. They might be evenly match with the Bulls, and thats only because of experience. The East plays the best defense. (Only my opinion) And although J-rich has some okay defense, I don’t think this team will be able to get through the play offs.

I like the team but I dont agree with the philosiphy all they wanna do is jack threes they need to put bass in there with howard and have two bigs and let jrich or hedo come of the bench and let gilbert start at the one. Bass and Howard dominant boards while the perimiter players get to do their thing.
