JNixonParticipantIndiana:
Paul George- He didn’t shoot (or play) particularly well in the game, but you can tell he has a very nice shot. Very quick release and the length to get his shot off whenever he wants. Not quite what you’d consider a good ball-handler just yet, and has struggled with it noticeably this game. He showed a little trouble creating his own shots off the dribble. His athleticism allowed him to make plays in transition. Didn’t play much defense, and showed little fight. Played a little soft and weak today. Still, you can see the scoring potential he has..
Lance Stephenson- Pretty dominate performance. With a game like that, now do you see why I was so high on him? Was wayyyy too much manliness for small man Jerome Randle. His handle is DISGUSTING. Aggressive and very strong. Knows how to set up his man with a hesitation dribble, and then use his 1st step and strength to blow by. His mid-range shot looked nice as well. Showed good floor vision and passing skills in spurts. Could stand to be a little less selfish, but he wasn’t a ball-hog too much. Showed once again that he’s a great on-ball defender with the length and foot quickness to deny penetration. Just an all-around outstanding performance from my guy, Lance Stephenson.
Josh McRoberts- Before getting ejected for a scuffle with Daniel Orton (L M A O) he looked pretty good. Shot the ball from the perimeter effectively. He did float a little too much on both ends, and was rather ineffective on the glass. He’ll never be a very good defender I don’t think, and wasn’t really a factor on that end again.
Magnum Rolle- He’s very skinny and weak, but he has nice athleticism and some very raw scoring ability. Endless arms. Still needs more strength to be a better post defender, but his frame is poor and he’s been that skinny and weak since his LSU days so I have to think he can’t get much bigger. Does have some intrigue about him though, I must say.
Thomas Huertel- He didn’t play well. He emerged as a possible draft pick at the end of pre-draft process (he’s an overseas guy), but I wasn’t impressed with how he looked. Not that good at anything from the PG spot.
Marcus Williams- I remember him from his Arizona days. See Paul George report.
Orlando:
Daniel Orton- L M A O…He’s a joke. This game was a tragedy for him. But that ejection? Priceless.
Stanley Robinson- He made a few plays with his athleticism, but he still struggles with his skill level. He has poor handles and plays too mechanical when he has to make quick decisions. Never going to score much, but he plays the passing lanes off the ball and smother you with his length on the ball. Rebounded very well. His only basket came in transition. Not a confident shooter.
Patrick Ewing Jr.- He came out aggressive offensively, but I’m not sure he had a good game offensively. Shot Orlando out of the game in the 1st half almost single-handedly, and he has nowhere near the talent to warrant that. Plays with energy on D and is a decent rebounder.
Joe Crawford- Clearly has NBA-caliber scoring ability, but he doesn’t defend at all and is an average ball-handler and plays selfish. He won’t make a roster unless he improves those things.
Jeff Adrien- He’s still a bulldog like he was in college. He’s a very strong and tough man. He isn’t a scorer or offensive player at all, but he got to the line a lot throughout the game. Tough and rugged on D and on the glass. He’s just too short to play in the NBA probably. :/
Jerome Randle- My guy was just overpowered by Lance Stephenson. He was just too small for that particular matchup. Didn’t score as efficiently as he usually does, but did an OK job as a floor general. I expect a better game next time from my sleeper pick.

IndianaBasketballParticipantStephenson looked like the 10th pick… He should be the one doing the interview right now.

bkb77ParticipantYa that one Pass that Stephenson made 2 Rolle was disgusting. It looks like Lancewill be the pacers starting PG, he played great & look like a 2nd round steal imo.

TONYDABOSS77ParticipantWhat Was Stephenson’s Stat Line ?

IndianaBasketballParticipantSlow down… It’s too soon to say he’ll be the starting point guard.
I think it’d be smart though to put the ball in his hands early.

JNixonParticipantOrton struggled. He rushed his shots, didn’t rebound that well, was indecisive in his moves and got tied up with the ball on multiple occasions. He basically looked like a 3 ppg scorer like he was in college.
He did defend OK and made a nice block on Magnum Rolle in the 1st part of the game. That was his highlight of the day.

HandDownManDown13ParticipantI’ve always thought lance played a lot like tyreke, and a lot of people thought the same, but they also said he would be like a poor mans tyreke.
I think he’s on the same level as tyreke is, he just doesnt have as great an attitude. That being said, i dont think he’s as disagreeable as a lot of you guys say. I dont think hes necessarily a negative guy. he still loves the game of basketball. There are a lot worse of personalities to have imo. Plus he goes hard. I dont think he’ll be a coaster ala Tmac or Vince

crunk12ParticipantIt’s Thomas Heurtel, not Thomas Huertel.
Whatever, I played with him in France, and he has a lot of talent, but his game is more European than ” American”, I think he could be a good point guard in a big team like Barcelona in the future…

Bryant24ParticipantStephenson always has had talent the media just made him seem like a thug with a bad attitude who is selfish he has some of the sickest handles I have seen he does remind people of tyreke evans but he as a decent jumper and u cant leave him open mid range. Why do you guys say he has a bad attitude? do yall know him personally?
Paul George play poorly today he didnt look like he was worthy of the 10th selection but its his first game my boy brandon jennings played horrible his first summer league game but he end of leading summer league in assists and steals so dont let this game tell you how he will play in the league and they said he is battling a groin injury.

McDunkinJnixon do you see Robinson
getting any burn for the Magic this year? or is he destined for the d league
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/05/2010 - 12:47pm #347013
JNixonParticipantHe could see VERY limited time, but he seems like a D-Leaguer next year. Especially if they sign a SF. He can’t score in half-court and he disappears too much.

SubZeroParticipantHow did Orton get ejected?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/05/2010 - 2:37pm #347097
JNixonParticipantHe got in a small altercation with Josh McRoberts. They were shoving each other, and then Orton tried to armbar him
0 - Posted on: Mon, 07/05/2010 - 3:58pm #347151
SubZeroParticipantOf course…as a Kentucky fan, Orton hasn’t exactly made me the happiest man in the world with his attitude this past season

omphalosParticipantGlad Stephenson played well, but some more assists would have been nice. I can’t get full coverage over here so I have to go by highlights. Can anyone confirm if he was getting double teams by the end of the game and what he did when they came?
