I was doing some thinking about rookies this year with the most potential. To me Bazz and Tony Mitchell seem to have the highest potential in the upcoming draft. This got me thinking of which players of all-time had the highest potential. And out of all players I think Tracy Mcgrady. This isn’t a knock at him by any means.. He was great and the numbers speak for themselves but I honestly think if he had a better work ethic/health he could have been the greatest, but things didn’t work out that way. What do you think? Which player has the highest potential in this draft? And which player of all-time?

I agree about T-Mac. I can’t remember where I read this, but I read somewhere that his agent said (this was during his prime) he was always the last one in the gym and the first one out, and he barely did anything in the offseason. If that’s true, then he definitely had the potential to be the greatest. Unfortunately, injuries/poor work ethic got in the way

Jonathan Bender had the potential to be KD before KD

and believe it or not i think Shaq never truly realized his potential. His work ethic has always been questioned (see: constant weight fluctuations). Shaq never cared to work on his free throws (which could have gotten him an extra 6-7 pts/game if he only got up to 65%) and never tried to expand his game, though he was actually a very skilled big man
