I think that could be a good comparison. Thad Young never really impressed me much at Georgia Tech for how highly touted he was coming out of high school and I feel the same about Poythress. I really like Poythress in Mcdonalds All-American game last year and had high hopes for him. He had such a fluid athleticism to his game. I think he could also end up like Marvin Williams.

But thanks for the insight. Marvin Williams is an interesting thought

I’m pretty sure he will be primarily a 3 at the next level…I think somebody said he would be a combo and everyone just ran with it. He’s fast enough, shoots it good, and handles it well enough to be a 3…shoots way better than Young…

But enough of that….this guy gets on my nerves so bad watching him!!! He has so much talent, size, and athleticism he really could be the #1 pick in this draft but he plays with no aggressiveness or bball IQ whatsoever…

I hate watching guys like this that don’t use their talents…I’m a huge UK fan and I honestly wouldn’t waste a pick on him. You just don’t know what you are getting..

Al Thornton is another good one, too bad he wasted his talent and couldn’t build on his solid first two years in the league

That’s actually a really good one. Thornton never grasped his full potential, I feel like Poythress is doing the same.

Thornton also spent four years at FSU and was even old for his class, Poythress hasn’t finished one yet. I hope he ends up better than Thornton, he was a big disappointment in my eyes.

I think he’s a small forward but not skilled enough to be more than a role player. He handle is very sub-par and as a result, he can’t create his own shot in a variety of ways. At his best, maybe he’ll be like the Earl Clark of the last month for the Lakers: a spot up shooter, hustle player, rebounder and good defender.
