Lebron’s HairlineParticipantReports are coming in that the Cavaliers are nearing a three team deal with OKC and Boston involved. The trade would send Anderson Varejao to OKC, Perkins back to Boston, and Brandon Bass and draft picks from Boston and/or OKC to Cleveland. If a trade structured like this goes down, who would be the winners and losers?

TyroberParticipantWhere are these reports you speak of?
Surely it doesn’t have anything to do with YOUR thread?

I May Be WrongParticipantI know people will say it but any links?
If so, I think OKC gets the better of this trade possibility. He’s more active than Perkins and actually knows how to finish around the rim better for of penetration passes from Durant or Westbrook. Andy and Serge Ibaka look like they will compliment each other very well.
Boston gets a familiar face but Varejo would have been a better fit for the C’s and I don’t know if Perkins can still make a huge enough impact on the defensive end.
Cavs SMH I’m sorry for all you Cavs fans UNLESS that inlcudes the high draft that OKC received from the Martin trade. But damn, Varejao’s value can’t be any higher and picks and a 12-6 PF is the best they can do? Dan Gilbert must be trying to help OKC win over LeBron this year. That’s the only thing I can think of lol

220ParticipantIf this actually happens, the Thunder would have a serious upgrade. Anderson Varejao is nearly as big as Kendrick Perkins, but much quicker and more athletic. Statistically Perkins doesn’t bring much to the Thunder, but he does give them toughness and mean looks (for all that’s worth).
The stats comparison is sad,
Perkins averages 4.8 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 1.5 APG, 0.5 SPG, and 0.9 BPG
compared to
Varejao’s averages 14.1 PPG, 14.4 RPG, 3.4 APG, 1.5 SPG, and 0.6 BPG.And Varejao shoots 75% from the free throw line compared to Perkins near 63%.
Perkins going back to Boston would likely be big for the Celtics. It would keep KG from having to constantly guard centers and the potential wear and tear that would bring.
For the Cavs, if they get back Jeremy Lamb, Perry Jones, or the likely lottery pick the Thunder acquired in the James Harden trade it would be worth it. The Cavs aren’t going anywhere this season and Varejao is eating up a lot of minutes that could be going into Tyler Zeller and Tristan Thompson’s development.
The mentioned trade makes a lot of sense right on the surface for the Thunder and Celtics and it could possibly be advantageous for the Cavs as well.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantNo hoops nation bro, why are you trying to criticize me for spreading a report to you guys?????

TyroberParticipantIf you want people to believe you post a link.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantI post it when one is available it’s only a rumor that is gaining speed; I posted this because they are usually right and that is where I have gotten all of my free agent posts that I put on here uri the summer which was 100% true.

aamir543ParticipantSometimes when you build a rep, people begin to trust you, if it were someone other than Hairline, I might not believe them, but I’m pretty sure he’s made trade rumor and free agent without links that have been accurate, so I can trust he’s not pulling this out of his a$$.
However it would be nice if you at least put the name of the site you got it from, or at least some source.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantAppreciate it aamir, I posted the James Harden to Washington trade a couple weeks ago with no link yet people didn’t complain and it was 100% true.

TyroberParticipantNot complaining at all. I think it’s got a lot of potential to help out all the teams involved. Varejao isn’t the leader Perkins is, but he is a much better talent. The Celtics would LOVE to have Perkins back and would probably give up a lot to get him and the Cavs need to cash in Varejao while his value is sky high. Just assumed you had a link if you had reports.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantI feel you bruh, I think this deal would have potential but the cavs may ask for Jared sullinger from Boston for much needed frontcourt depth and either the Toronto pick or PJ3/Lamb

phila9012ParticipantOnce again I will say it. Perkins means so much to the thunders chemistry(see the yahoo article). there is no way they would trade him and a young asset for anderson varejao.

bloodshyParticipantMy initial impulse was to neg the top of this thread because I share the opinion that any claim of a “report” necessitates source evidence (link). However, once I went through the thread and saw the over negging I reversed and gave a +1 on each of Hairline’s posts. I generally enjoy Hairline’s posts and, as aamir said, Hairline does have a respectable track record.
We’re in the Holiday Season folks. Let’s lighten up and give people the benefit of the doubt.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantI’ve also seen several online rumors of a swap of centers between the Cavs & OKC,and Boston had been mentioned as the possible 3rd team….OKC would make out like bandits if this does goes thru….But if i’m the Lakers, Memphis,Spurs or Clippers, i would pray this doesnt happen….

JunkYardDogParticipantVarejao next to ibaka… tough defensive paint (one to defend down low and the other to fly and block)… great on boards in the offensive end… good screens for westbrook durant and martin.
Don’t like the trade for Boston…
