who do you guys think will be baylor’s leader of the team? and offcourse who will end up being better prospect?

i actually believe Isaiah will be a very good player he really looks already at least 220 he’s a legit 7footer very long arms he will block a lot of shots and his scoring is definitelly what makes his potential so high, he is even a pretty good athlete but his handles and range for the kid that size is unique one..

in my eyes both actually are top5 contenders

isaiah austin reminds me hassan whiteside… not a good sign. There is some hype around him and he seems to be a pf more than a center.

quincy miller should be very good this year without perry and anthony jones in his legs.

Quincy Miller will be the unquestioned first option of this team and play his way into a top 5 overall pick. Before PJ3 returned he was displaying his aggressive mentality on the offensive end and putting up good numbers.

Putting his injury another year behind him and having a full off-season to work on his game is going to work wonders for him. Miller is seriously underrated as a prospect, he has great length, a scorer’s mentality and the talent to back it up.

I’m not 100% sold on Isaiah Austin but I am intrigued as to what he can become.  He’s the type of big that can grab the rebound and bring the ball up to about half-court and can also dribble around the perimeter a bit.  That said, I’m not sure what position he is.  I’m not sure he’s strong enough to guard centers in the L.  To be honest, I see a cross of Donte Green (length and athleticism) and Andray Blatche (mid-range and ball-handling skills) in him… and that’s not exactly a positive outlook.  Of course, it’s still very early in his career to give him a fair comparison and he could shake these comparisons to low-IQ players (Jonathon Bender and Alexis Ajinca as well) and shock us.

These guys with athleticism, size, length, and ball-handling ability though usually mean they have the chance to be good players in the league.  Not that he’ll be a star, but if he can unlock all of his skills and improve at a high level, he can be a good player in the L.  The same could be said about guys like Perry Jones and Quincy Miller.

What’s with Baylor grabbing all of these long, lanky and athletic players nowadays?  Quincy Acy, Perry Jones, Brittney Griner, Robert Griffin III, Quincy Miller, and now Isaiah Austin?

Is Quincy Acy long and lanky? He’s a 6-7 235 PF

Anton, is that all you got out of what I typed?! lmao kidding

He’s not lanky anymore but he is a grown man — he’s a senior.  When he first got to Baylor he was about 6’7 200lbs-210bs.

I think Austin should change his game quite a bit, he needs to play like he is a long 7-footer. He needs to focus on getting stronger, get some go-to post moves. Nobody needs a PF/C that can dribble and pull-up from midrange.

I personally think Austin can be a very good college player, but he really needs to work to become an NBA player.

I hope Quincy Miller totally takes over the team next year and becomes an 18+ ppg scorer, nobody can guard him in college.

@Anton123; Tell that to the Dallas Mavericks.

I agree in principle with what you’re saying, too many PF/C prospects put too much time into learnings which are a bonus for their position (like ball-handling, pull-up Js) before they work out the fundamentals of post play.

In the same vein, it’s all well and good when guys like James McAdoo and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist can post up, but how about working on that handle and jump shot first?

As much as I love Kevin Durant, every skinny, tall prospect is trying to emulate him and play on the perimeter instead of learning the skills in the post they need… PJ3 comes to mind as the classic example.

Austin needs to hit up Muscle and Strength.com and make a massive purchase of Muscle Milk, Nitro Tech protein powder, maybe some Creatine, and some Monster Mass…also he should get a meal plan at the Baylor campus cafeteria. Once he does those things, he can live up to his potential. If he can put on 20 pounds his NBA prospects would shine quite a bit brighter.

He does remember me of Hassan Whiteside in terms of lenght and skinny frame in their first years of college, however Hassan is still far away in the knowledge of the game, Austin to me has higher BKB IQ and a better Jumpshot, he just needs more experience and Bulk to bang inside.

Miller needs more experience and to recover the lost explosiveness due to his injury, tune his jumpshot a bit more and add some 15 pounds of muscle, then he will be NBA ready.

I also think Baylor demands a team game, not individual performances, so i have to expect some average numbers from these 2 the next season, even if they play efficiently.

I don’t think Miller needs to gain weight, if he could shed some additional body fat and replace it with lean muscle that’s fine, but really it’s about strength, not weight at the SF position. Miller is similar to Durant in that he doesn’t need to bulk up, just needs to get stronger.

@MOSTHATED; I’ve never seen anyone use BKB as an abbreviation for basketball before, not really relevant but just thought it was odd.

     @TheMOSTHATEDone :

it’s hard to evaluate austin’s bball IQ cause he hasn’t yet confronted real strong opposition. He played against smaller player and hasn’t yet developed his own post game. Hard to tell where he is on that point…

I still remember how whiteside was sold, during the draft process, as a good outside shooter.

Yeah, you have a point, lets wait to see him in action in college competition. However Austing has been scouted more than Whiteside at the Beginning of their college seasons, some reports speak of some BKB IQ and a jumpshot, i havent seen him live.

By the way i am eating a burrito on top of the Tikal Ruins by writting this…yes we have 4G internet!

it seems great… point of view. I’m writing packing my things just before the training (I’m in france).

Whiteside was not scouted so, cause he is not ike nephew and he was a little bit older than the other freshman (nearly 2 years).

I like Miller quite a big more then Austin. Miller has the abilty to be a big time scorer in the NBA and I think he could average close to 18 ppg for Baylor if he is made the #1 guy like he should be. I’m not a fan of Austin’s game or his pro prospects, but he’ll put up numbers at the college level due to length alone.

Jackson domintes the ball on this team and the other guys to me are reduced to essentially rebounders and pur backs with the occasional dump off. Scott Drews X and O game is suspect too. I do think Jackson will be better with a years experience under his belt tho. Is Austin smaller/skinnier than The Brow. Cant be by more than 5 pounds lighter if that. Austin is a good shot blocker too. If Baylor had a pg along the lines of K.Marshall that team, last year would have been a REAL contender. They need guards that can set these muli talented forwards up to score in the right positions and spots. I got Jackson and Miller going for about 17 and 15ppg respectively . As stated earlier Miller is quite aggressive offensively, lets just see if he can get the ball
