Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantRajon Rondo, it’s time to cut the talk about Rondo and he only being good because of the cast.
He’s probably the best PG in the East.. word to Derrick Rose. But people still think that he’s doing good because of Pierce, Allen, Garnett, and Perkins. It’s time to stop the talk.
This kid is really that good because he’s a good and willing passer. He’s also a very pesky defender and has good hands. His mid-range jumper isn’t consistent but he works on it. He’s one of the best PG rebounders.. Kidd and Westbrook top that list.
The reason why he’s so good so soon? Confidence. He won an NBA championship at a very early age. His confidence level is off the charts, and it’s because he’s playing the game with veterans.. Not just some 10 year vets.. We’re talking about top level veterans. Pierce is one of the best Celtics to play the game, while the Celtics are one of the best franchises of all time. Allen is the 2nd best 3pt shooter. Garnett is one of the toughest players to play the game and probably the 2nd or 3rd best PF of ALL TIME.. Duncan/K.Malone
To be the beat, you gotta beat the best and learn from the best.
He beat the Lakers in ’08.. He beat the best.
He’s on the same team as KG, Sheed, Allen, Pierce. He’s learning from the best. Thus, Rajon Rondo will be a household name for the next 10 years..
End.

JNixonParticipantI’ve always liked Rondo. He’s unbelievably good at every single aspect of basketball, except shooting. He’s an unbelievable passer though. And that shot of his is moving closer and closer to being a respectable weapon. You can no longer defend at the free throw line when he has the ball at the 3-point line. He is a solid shooter when he has his feet set, especially from mid-range.

llperezif the bulls offered derrick rose to boston, the celtics would take that deal immediately, so i cant agree with he is the best pg in the east. But yeah, he is great and the he plays off his teammates thing is now out the window.

dolla130ParticipantIMO derrick rose is the best pg in the east third in the league to me if the jazz hornets and bulls offered Dwill,Cp3 and Drose for rondo the celtics would drive rondo to the respective city…. i dont think rondo can excel on a mediocre team IMO he is a great complement player not a star or a number 1 threat

R-Dot-13ParticipantRondo and Rose are the top 2.
Although Rondo has a much more consistent jumper now.. if he can add a pull up to his game, or a more consistent 3pt shot he will be for sure hte best in the east.
I still think he is already though

IndianaBasketballParticipantI used to think the same thing, but Rondo is an elite point guard. He does everything at an elite level, except shoot the ball.
He isn’t a superstar, since he can’t dominate or will his team to victory offensively, BUT… He is a star. I think he’s a Jason Kidd type of point guard, just without the size.

JNixonParticipantRondo is a better defender than CP3. Considerably better. Paul is better at getting steals, Rondo can defend lights out on the ball and he has the length to help out off the ball and then make it back to his man when the ball is swung.

Like he is absolutely ripped and i think the one thing putting rondo over rose right now is his defense rose doesnt play D like that becuz hes never had to before in his life and with that team he needs to put more into the offensive side.

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantPretty scary to think he’s going to be a franchise player in 2-3 years.. He and Kendrick Perkins are going to need to step it up.. KP43 actually worked on his offense and now he has a little 7 ft jumper. time to extend it to about 12ft.. then eventually 15-17.

dolla130Participantif Rondo and Kendrick perkins become there franchise players that team would lose 50 games because
1. perkins has no post game is not a threat to any team on offense and is a average shot blocker and rebounder
2.Rondo is not a franchise player i think he is a good complement player he would best fit a team with a franchise player in place
3.if i had to start a team with a PG there are only three in the league now and thats it and im not saying that i would not like rondo on my team but as a franchise player he does not have the IT factor that the three listed below have

HaleParticipantRondo is a good defender but definitely not the lockdown defender everyone on the site says. He looked lost covering D-Rose in the regular season, completely lost. Rose could actually defend Rondo when he wants to. He just has that Kobe/LeBron try at defense only when it matters thing. I’d take Rose over Rondo no doubt in my mind.

JNixonParticipantThe only player I’ve ever seen really give Rondo problems is Derrick Rose, so I do think Rose is the better player of the 2. Rondo is a better PG though, if you see what I mean. He creates for others better than Rose does. Much better playmaker IMO. I think Rondo is the best defensive PG in basketball hands down though. He can do alot of things that people have to look at from a different point of view to see. He is more than just a passing lane defender, or on-ball defender. He can do both, and he is the best in the NBA at helping out his big man when they are in post ups.
