Lotto StudParticipantWe all know that Ray can ball & that he chose to play under his father on the college level. My question is now that he is playing in a lower level talent conference, will he be a NBA prospect when it’s all said & done? I think this may have hurt him by not commiting to a top notch D1 school.

bullsfan121212his dad has been coaching him his whole life. He should have another coach teach things his dad doesnt know. a different perspective from another coach would be good for him. Plus not playing in a top conference will hurt his development a little. theres alwasy aau and special tournaments for the top players so it gets evened out a little now a days. He will look better playing in a weaker conference

JNixonParticipantI don’t think he’ll be hurt all that much by his decision to play for Detroit. Detroit has a chance to be a very good team with him running the show for the next year or so. If he performs well and gets them to win a game or 2 against hgih-level competition, he will raise his stock. That’s really what it’ll come down to in projecting him as a prospect, how he plays against the good teams.
I don’t know about you guys, but I’ll be glued to the TV/computer when he matches up against Shelvin Mack and Butler

BasterdInABasketParticipantNBA teams can tell if you can hoop or not regardless of what level competition you play. It shouldnt affect his draft position much at all
See Eric Maynor, Larry Sanders, Paul George and a lot of foreigners who dont play in the top euro leagues.0 - Posted on: Wed, 09/01/2010 - 10:47am #391927

Lotto StudParticipantI absolutely understand where you are coming from, but there are plenty of players that goes that route to a lower level conference & does not succeed, What’s the percentage of those who make it to the next level?

BasterdInABasketParticipantYeah Hayward, Babbit and Javale Mcgee.
Theres others too but overall when you get past maybe the top 50 ranked recruits its really a crapshoot for who makes it to the league. and not many top recruits have gone the midmajor route in the past like this year with mccallum, ferguson and the guy going to central michigan idr his name.

McDunkinsymbol i honestly can give you a sure comparison, but this site compares him to mo williams, and i have also seen him compared to darren collison
what i know is that he is a true pg
can get to the rim
good defender
his jumper off the dribble is shaky, but spotting up its solid

McDunkinhe is a great passer thats what i meant by a true point guard. He is a very unselfish player. This is probably a result of playing under his dad

boxn1ParticipantHe has the goods, ive seen him a few times, and i go to 5-6 U of D games, they are pretty good, young, but good. And how many guys that have these super high ratings out of highschool go to the elite D-1 schools and are never to be heard from again. Its just about the same chance of success with different things being the obstacles.
