Reports say The Hornets are on the verge of Signing Ryan Anderson

League source says #Hornets acquiring SF Ryan Anderson from #Magic in sign and trade for Gustavo Ayon.
I like Ayon a lot. He's a smart player who knows his limitations. Good passer for a big and has soft touch around the rim. He's 27 though. Not sure he has anymore potential left.
Only Gustavo Ayon though? I feel like the Hornets are getting a steal! Ryan Anderson at a stretch 4 with one of the most deadliest jumpers in the league for a guy is solid but most likely a back-up for the rest of his career. Magic should get something else in return too (maybe Xavier Henry at minimum)
I agree it seems like the Hornets are getting a steal here. I guess the Magic like Gustavo Ayon and weren't interested in adding extra money in the deal. The Magic need to get rid of the onerous contracts if they want to rebuld which is what's starting to happen now.
Rumors have it that they intended to resign Anderson ,but he wanted a 10 million a year deal...And new Gm Rob Hennigan wasnt willing to pay it..
After they traded Okafor and word came out they werent going to sign Kamen.I thought they'd use Ayon as the starting center..Now will Jason Smith be the man in the middle?
This dosen't make sense for either team N.O. jus drafted A.Davis who is going 2 be the starting 4, And Ryan Anderson is the starting 4 for the Magic so why would wanna loose yo starting spot for a playoff team, just 2 be a back up 4 a non-playoff team in N.O. this might be a win 4 the Magic who won't have 2 over pay 4 sumbody who shouldn't have won Most Improved Player anyway, they got 2 many bad contracts as it is.
gustavo ayon and 36 million spread accross 4 years gives the hornets ryan anderson. heres the tweet i read it from:
The New Orleans Hornets agreement with Ryan Anderson is four years, approximately $36 million, league sources tell Y! Sports.
Davis and Anderson, maybe Davis will play the C, or maybe they play anderson at SF. Probally the former with Jason smith being the 3rd big coming off the bench. There really are not any centers in the league besides Bynum nad Dwight theat can score, so no real worry of davis being pushed arround.
Cousins is one of the best offensive big men in the league, I would throw him in there with Bynum and Dwight when it comes to scoring
Should reach elite C status this coming season, only thing stopping him is some people's pre-concieved notion that he is a PF...that myth should be destroyed with T-rob coming in this year!
I dont see how Davis can play the 5 spot at 220lbs. You still have guys like Al Jefferson, Roy Hibbert, Marc Gasol, Demarcus Cousins, Greg Monroe who are all good 5's. And guys like Pau Gasol, Kevin Love, and Dirk who all play the 5 sometimes. They would all eat his lunch in the paint.
The Hornets were going to sign Anderson to an offer sheet and the Magic weren't going to match it. At least they got a decent player in Ayon and save a little money.
I like that they sign a a good player that can really shoot the ball, but I don't like a Davis Anderson frontcourt because as great Davis will be defensively, he sin't nearly strong enough to hold the fort at the 5, and Anderson is in no way strong enough to battle down low. I still expect Davis to do well, but I was hoping a big like Okafor would be there at the 5 alongside Davis.
If they match the Suns offer on Eric Gordon the Hornets will have some good talent but basically
two shooting guards and two power forwards. Plus GV off the bench as a combo guard and Jason Smith
as a 4/5.
If they can get all their talent on the same page, they could go with a smaller lineup with Rivers, Gordon, Al-Aminu,
Ryan Anderson, and Anthony Davis. That could be a very dangerous starting five for the future. Then they could use GV
as their sixth man.
This will be the first of many cost cutting moves from the Magic. They will be forced to tear down a bit and I fully expect to see Howard, Turkoglu, and Richardson dealt as well. If not before the season starts, likely by the trade deadline.
If D12 is traded then a big man may come back to Orlando, they have just drafted a PF in Nicholson and have Glen Davis on over $6 million a year. Plus if D12 moves, how effective would Ryan Anderson be I wonder, I'd have liked them to keep him but $36 million over 4 years is a lot. Maybe NOH play Davis at 5 with Anderson at 4.
I just don't know what the Hornets are trying to do w/ their lineup. So is Davis going to start at C, or is Anderson going to start at SF? I don't think Davis is ready to bang w/ Cs yet, and no way can Anderson guard SFs.
Yes the trade just seems to off to me for the Hornets despite being a great trade value wise, the truth is you aren't paying Ryan Anderson 9 mil a year for the next 4 years to backup Anthony Davis, so that means that they will be starting together as Anderson sure as hell can't play SF because he'd be a big defensive liabilty on the perimeter. I think it's a horrible move to have to make Davis play C while he's still trying to grow his game and his body. You are basically throwing him to the Wolves, it's why I wasn't even a huge proponent of them trading Okafor despite the financial benefits of doing so. Davis would benefit so greatly by being able to start at PF beside a vet like Marcus Camby or Samuel Dalambert. Now a lineup with Davis and Anderson and Rivers and Gordon just seems odd to me. The Hornets have been given such a gift to rebuild and create something great after losing CP3 but I see no sort of direction or vision for this team. Basically the goal appears to just try to pick up as much talent as possible without any sort of scheme in thought. It's funny but the two things this team lacks is a veteran defensive minded starting SF, and a defensive C to show Davis the ropes, sounds an awful lot like Ariza and Okafor, sure they were overpaid and moving them helped clear room to keep Gordon, but they would definitely had helped the growth of Davis,
I'm not sure this trade is the best for the Hornets. Davis's natural position is a PF, and I wouldn't want him to be thrown into the fire as a C until he bulks up first.
I like Ryan Anderson, he's tall, has a fast release, and can really drain the 3. What concerns me is how he's going to play without getting as many clean open looks like when he was paired with Dwight. Dwight is a force in the middle. Teams are forced to double him, leaving Anderson pretty open. Davis isn't as developed offensively as Dwight is yet, and judging by how Ryan struggled when Dwight was injured late in the season, it kind of worries me.
I don't want Gustavo Ayon to go either, but if this trade does go through, we might just find some guy who can be a big body in the paint. Aaron Gray, maybe?

Ryan Anderson should be able to score consistently provided he gets a good bulk of minutes and stays healthy. I fully expect Anderson to play the 5 and let Davis help from the weakside until Davis bulks up considerably. This will allow Aminu or someone else to play the three. Ryan Anderson is completely incapable of guarding SF's.

ESPN's Marc Stein is reporting that the New Orleans Hornets are working on a Sign & Trade for Ryan Anderson..The details havent been released yet,but both sides say the deal could be completed by this afternoon..Anderson & overall pick Anthony Davis will make an interesting pair..
I'm surprise the Magic are letting Anderson walk,he was their 2nd option ....But it'll be intersting to see what the Magic will get in return...
Last season Anderson enjoyed his best year as a pro averaging 16 pts/7.7 rbs a game..
