Skip Bayless doesn’t seem to know much about sports. I remember Mark Cuban blasting him and Skip completely discredited the Mavs D when they won the championship… if I’m not mistaken he did even know what a zone defense in basketball.

I love this…first off, those of you trying to bash Sherman for getting “personal”, its Skip Bayless. This guy goes on and on and on and on and always does exactly what Sherman says, states opinions about players he likes or doesn’t like and treats them as facts, without any statistical support what so ever. Sherman doesn’t need to justify being better than Revis. Sherman played last year and was the best player on the league’s best defense and was all pro. Revis was hurt and is now being shopped by his team because no one wants to pay him the ridiculous salary he is going to demand. Sherman was the best corner in the league last year, he had a lot of picks, and like he said, if you actually watched the games, he was absolutely a lock down corner. I’m not saying Revis isn’t good, but to say Sherman isn’t in his league right now is silly. I have no problem with Sherman, Mark Cuban, Terrell Suggs, or anyone else coming on this show and calling out Skip. The guy gets away with thinking Tim Tebow and Vince Young are better than Joe Flacco and its just ridiculous. Asking him that stupid question about trying to land his own TV show…how is that relevant to anything, Skip? Shut up, stop criticizing athletes when you are just some bum who talks about sports.

personally, I love Skip. He’s entertaining as hell. People forget that before 1st Take he was the highest paid sports journalist in America. To say he has no clue what he’s talking about it false. A lot of what he says is for entertainment and ratings. He works for ESPN people!! I thought Sherman acted really immature and just got on the show to embarrass Skip. I’m gonna keep watching 1st Take because imo it’s the best show on ESPN. Yea, sometimes they annoy me with all the Tebow talk and LeBron talk, but they also talk about serious subjects on the show too, and both Stephen A and Skip continuously bring up good points

I agree with everything ASAP Henry said. I think ESPN is just using Skip for ratings. There’s no way he doesn’t know that a lot of what he says about things is BS. If he and Stephen A. both praised Lebron all the time, it would just be them agreeing about how good he is, which doesn’t exactly make for good tv. I really hate Skip Bayless for the way he is trying to spread his opinions and that’s all he is doning. I really can’t believe that Skip is or was the highest paid journalist in his class. The best argument Sherman had was that all Skip does is telling his opinion. To me as a broadcaster or anchor you have to prove your points or you have to verify what you have to say. Everything he sais starts with I think, I belive or ‘to me’ xxx is better than yyy.

I’m a Thunder fan and Skip is saying he is also one but everytime Russ Westbrook is topic he is bashing him, everytime. He scores 36 and is taking to many shots. Russ is scoring 15, he is not a reliable offensive player, he is having 5 assists while shooting over 50% he is not delivering. H is shooting 7 of 20, he is an idiot. It’s never right whatever he is doing. We all know Russ is no Rondo or CP3 but he is just another kind of player and will go his own patch and taking advantage of his own tools and strenghts.

Recently JJ Reddick was brought up here for his words about his new situation and his former coach and teammates. He has acted like a class act and and I had to give JJ probs for that. Never thought he would be the complete player he is right now and can really help a team aside from shooting ling shots but I have to admit he has really grown as a player.

I’ve never seen Skip admiting anything his usual opinion is not agreeing with. That’s not the way I think Analysts should work nor should be accepted. If some of you guys think this is entertaing than enjoy it. To me this is just a joke, can’t take it serious one bit.

I just saw the TNT crew with Barkley talking about players, teams and playoff outlooks and all of this guys have at least points why they think this or that won’t work out or will work out. It’s not that I have a problem with opinions, we all have favorite teams and players and players we don’t like. But they have valid points while discussing the topics and this still funny cause they are not taking their opinions to serious. Skip is always right and Mr. Smith is always having other opinion. This is predictable and lame to me.

I really enjoy the Bayless/Smith battles because they both have good points, it’s more of a fun argument of wit. But what Sherman did was no battle of wit, he came in with guns blazing and really made himself look like a disrespectful fool. You can tell he had a lot of what he was going to fire off at Bayless already pre-planned in his head.

I’m not the biggest fan of Skip Bayless, but I do think he’s very intelligent and knows what he’s talking about most of the time. He’s highly opinionated but who isn’t?

I think most of you guys are missing the key point, probably because you are all wanna be journalists. But the fact is, from the standpoint of a professional athlete, theres really no need to “respect” some guy who has been bashing you constantly and is basically just used to get TV ratings.

We can all argue how “intelligent” Skip is and what ESPN is making him/leading him on to do. The facts are, half of the stuff he says on First Take is purely stupid. He has completely disrespected Sherman on numerous occasions for talking trash, and we all know Skip would jump right in and defend one of “his guys” for talking trash. Sure, Sherman may seem immature or narcissistic, but why shouldn’t he be? He is a pro football player. Skip is just some a hole who gets paid to talk about sports. Journalists and the media are annoying as hell to any pro athlete. Look at real interviews with Sherman, not just trash talk, and you will see he is very intelligent and isn’t just a totally immature person. But he clearly had no interest in showing Skip respect. Remember, Sherman was in a twitter war with Darrelle Revis, one of his peers, someone who actually plays football. Skip is the one who decided to start ripping Sherman and tweeting at Revis like they are buddies because he has been anti-Sherman all season. That is why I have no problem with Sherman calling Skip out for his lack of talent as a human being. Because either Skip totally gives into the network and says outlandish things to get ratings, which makes him a pathetic person right there, or he just has some god awful opinions on some players.

You guys can hate Sherman for the way he acted in this interview, I get that. I just don’t think most of you understand why he was acting this way. Its not like this guy just hates life and rains on anyone’s parade, this is clearly a personal thing against Skip. I’m sure plenty of athletes that have seen/heard some of illogical and bias stuff Skip has said about them were glad to see someone call him out on how foolish he really is.

But to answer your question, no. Sherman is better than Skip at football, but not at life.

You just don’t compare sports to life. Sports is a very tiny part of life, there’s multiple aspects of life. To say you’re better at life than someone would mean you’re better than them at just about everything, which in most cases would be impossible.

There’s always someone better than you at something. That’s just a fact of life.

Here is an article that offers some good perspective on Sherman’s comments. He comes off arrogant in his entire rant and actually makes Skip look good which is hard to do at times. Definitely worth a read.
