Ricky Rubio is overrated.

You’re telling me that a point guard that can’t shoot, can’t defend, can’t get to the free throw line, has a SLOW release, isn’t explosive, isn’t very athletic, can’t finish in the paint, and isn’t strong.. You’re telling me he’s going to be the next nba star? Jason Kidd became a star later in his career despite the fact that he couldn’t shoot, but he has always had a decently fast release, he’s been a good 1 on 1 defender, pretty strong, and maybe the best rebounding point guard of all time.. You compare him to Steve Nash? He shoots 76% from the free throw line and shoots about 4 FGs a game.. Looking at what he’s good at, his career averages will be 8ppg and 12apg.. A good passer but after seeing Brandon Jennings’ passing ability, will Ricky Rubio ever be marked as the best passer of the 2009 draft?

Good point but most players don’t care about a H.o.F. award if they don’t win a championship. That just puts them in the wrong list.

And I don’t mean a career average of 12 assists.. I was incorrect, I meant a best season average of 12apg, his career will be somewhere near 7.5ish which isn’t bad but he isn’t the next Steve Nash

Weaknesses: Has good speed but lacks the great explosiveness that top tier point guards in the league possses … He is forced to shoot high amount of attempts in the paint because his marginal leaping ability makes it difficult for him to finish around the basket … Heavily depends on the pick and roll to create his opportunities and does not show a great ability to break down defenders in ISO situations … Has gotten better at taking what’s open, but his pass first mentality still gets him into trouble as he passes up open shots … His jumper is still not a finished product by any means … Because it takes him a bit to get his feet set, and his release point is fairly low he still looks like a set shooter … Has battled some injuries over the last year, which raises the question of durability and whether he will be able to handle the rigors of an 82 game season … His game has been up and down this season after coming back from his injury (Had a better overall season last year) … His performance on the international scene does not guarantee his game will translate well to the NBA … Is also a bit of a risk because of his high buyout and because he has hinted at staying overseas if he doesn’t go to the right team …

Rubio is totally overrated. The NBA has some strange fixation on him. He will be a very good NBA player, but he is far from what he is hyped to be (messiah of basketball). His shooting is much better now than it was. So he should be OK with that. But he’s very overrated nonetheless. He reminds me of Nikos Zisis. Zisis was unreal as a young player, but with each year he got worse compared to his peers. I think this is what might happen to Rubio also.
