Rumor Al Jefferson to Phoenix for Amare
If this is trure thats a horrible trade for minnesota.
If Big Al recovers from his torn ACL and gets back to 100% he is just as good as amare and maybe even better. He also has a huge potential and the sky is the limit. I dont see Amare getting much better.
Plus you add the 6th pick. that makes no sense.
David Kahn the next Mchale?
for minnesota I think a one for one trade works I think the 6th pick is a bit much.
but seriously...amare is a more rounded player than jefferson is now....jefferson is a better banger but amare is a better mid range shooter...plus jefferson is playing by himself up in Minnie with a random mike miller apperance....so he is going to have way more touches
I do not think this would work out. Jefferson is coming off a terrific season, however, due to his injury in late February if I'm not mistaken, he sat out for a while. What a bad way to end a great season. Back to the topic, I doubt Minnesota would do this. Phoenix clearly wants their #6 pick. Nah, no way, Big Al is a natural leader. Minnesota would only want to trade up and not down in the draft.
Al Jefferson tore his ACL, so before he has even come back from knee injury and played a game you make a trade with the Suns and you have to wonder who is crazier because how can you trade a player who sustains such an injury without knowing what kind of numbers he will put up? No wonder he wants to trade him there must be some idea of whether he will be the same which leads me to believe that Kahn believes he has damaged goods on his hands. What doesn't make sense is the Suns trading for an injured player without knowing whether he will ever put up those numbers again which is why the #6 pick is included I don't like it at all someone will definately loose in this trade which makes it a terrible trade for Minnesota.
I am sure it is just a made up rumor
That is true chaachie12, it would definitely be like trading two starters for one. I would just keep the pick and look to trade with teams that hold the picks (#1 - #5). I like Al Jefferson's game, he is a underrated player in my point of view, I believe he should have made the All-Star along with Danny Granger. Jefferson plays the post better than Amare'. I see Big Al in Minnesota for a while, maybe a few good years.
that'll be stupid trade a legit C for a PF when the Wolves already have plenty of PFs....if i were GM i would opt for a SG ie Stephen Curry......then with the 28th pick Austin Daye (SF) or Taj Gibson (PF-SF).....they would have a decent starting lineup a first in many yrs...
Telfair or Foye
Curry
Miller (possible Daye)
Love (possible Gibson)
Jefferson
Good 2k lineup LOL
If this is the case, then it'd be the second franchise destroying move in the last two seasons for the Wolves, which probably isn't a good sign for fans. Last season they passed up the very talented shooting guard OJ Mayo, who complemented Jefferson perfectly, for a player that played the same exact position as their franchise player, Love, had the same weaknesses as Jefferson (lack of ideal height and athleticism for a big man). Love would NEVER be able to play next to Jefferson, ever. Yet Mayo was more talented, would complement Jefferson perfectly on offense, and filled a much bigger need.
And now they want Amare for Jefferson, even though he's not as good as Jefferson, and never will be again, and he's older than Jefferson, and the Wolves are looking toward the future. And plus you give up the sixth pick which could be valuable to another team who wanted a specific player to trade up for.
ha as you can tell i am strongly against this trade
Yes and I don't know if I like this trade or not. I think it would hinge on the Wolves being able to resign Amare because if they could he would be the face of the franchise and we would have a superstar player. Is Al Jefferson a superstar I think he is but maybe Kahn doesn't think so and if he can pull of the trade of Love to Memphis for Rubio this trade would make a lot more sense because they would become a more up tempo team. Jefferson is my favorite player on the team so I would be sad to see him go but I just don't know what Kahn thinks of the Wolves. This would definitely be a big splash for the Wolves I'm just not sure if I would like to see this move made.
seriously, why on earth would minnesota trade a younger pf with a high ceiling for an older pf with the same ceiling? and then throw in the 6th pick too? yeah right. maybe in steve kerr's wet dream. no way. i'd believe this maybe if it was jefferson and the 6th for stoudamire and the 14th, but still, i'd have a hard time believing that.
Let's see.....one rumor has Amare going to Washington for 5th pick in the draft.. Now we have the 6th pick and near superstar player. So the difference between the 5th and 6th pick is Al Jefferson???? With that said, the difference between 2 and 6 must be Kobe Bryant or Lebron James. That Jefferson rumor is worse than 90% of the crap that some boneheads make up in their dreams to better their team with no regard to how the other team is effected. No way!!!!!!
Amare has already peaked, Jefferson is still getting better. Minnesota will not trade Jefferson. He is the best low post scorer in the NBA and his passing game is improving along with his defense, and has the better future. Even with the injury this year, he will be fine, a player like Jefferson who scores on skill and below the rim not athleticism will be in god shape. This trade is a no go.
i think the suns would be laughing at the minny front office if they make the deal...
to me amare right now is the better player but i think jefferson isn´t much behind and if you look at the rebounding big AL is already better... and when you see that amare possibly won´t resign with the wolves and big Al is on a long contract the deal would be just stupid for them!
The Wolves would trade away their franchise for 1 year of a player who doesn't play defense... Amare contract is up after next year... This is dumb, but like I said before, the league never fail to surprise me... A SMART person wouldn't make this trade... If this trade was for LeBron I wouldn't it because he wouldn't stay for more than one year....
I think Al Jefferson for Amare is just bad to start with. Amare is more made for the fast pace game then Al is, where Al is just a brute down low. So just stright up trade I dont think it should go down because then Pheonix who is shopping Nash, traded for Shaq(Got rid of Marion) and now possibly trading Amare for Jefferson( I also feel he is better than Amare) are they trying to stop their fast break game?????
But I think this trade gets bad when you throw in first round picks, Minnesota would be getting way ripped off if they have to throw in the number 6 pick.

Amare to the wolves would offer a more explosive "franchise player" if he does come to minnesota, he scores his points more electrifying then Al. I know that tickets sales were tough for the Minnesota Vikings(A legit playoff team) Im wondering if the TWolves are expecting the same kind of rough sales next season?!?!?!

I heard on Sportscenter that this deal is seriously on the table. This is a bad deal. It makes zero amount of sense for the T-Wolves. If David Kahn agrees to this deal, he's worse than Kevin McHale... Terrible way to start off his career w/ the T-Wolves. It'd be great for the Suns if they could pull this off though.
Never going to happen. Why would Amar'e sign in Minnesota when he could be in Chicago, New York, Cleveland, Miami, Washington, etc.? That makes no sense.
If Garnett couldn't win there by himself, what would make Amar'e think he could?
has just confirmed that minnesota has turned this deal down. Minnesota new management likes jefferson and confirmed the deal is now of the table.
Okay, lets get this straight right now. Amare is better then Jefferson. Amare is more athletic, stronger, his passing his 100 times better and has a way better midrange game then Jefferson does. Jefferson seems to be superior defensviely and maybe in the post. Jefferson is younger as stated above and has more room to grow. I think an Amare for Jefferson swap straight up wouldn't be bad. Amare is a league icon and would throw some fans into the stands here in Minny. Jefferson is not at the level of him as far as being well known. If the Wolves threw in the 6th pick, it is a horrible deal for Minnesota. If they really want Amare, try something along the lines of, Jefferson, Corey Brewer and the 18th for Amare, Alando Tucker and the 14th. Wolves get their big name and move up 4 picks, plus get a young sg (Tucker is not any worse the Brewer). Suns get a young stud on the rise, a young wing and only move down a few spots.
The only problem with trading for Stoudemire is that he may bolt for FA in 2010, which would really hurt the Wolves in the long run.

"An NBA executive told the Boston Globe today that the Minnesota Timberwolves is working a deal with the Phoenix Suns that would send former Celtics forward Al Jefferson and their sixth pick in next week's NBA Draft for All-Star Amare Stoudemire.
The Suns, which have dangled Stoudemire for some time, fiound a suitor in Minnesota that is in transition. The team announced today that coach Kevin McHale has ended his 15-year association with the team. New basketball of operations David Kahn is looking to take the franchise into another direction."
