Should the Pacers cut ties with Lance Stephenson
sad thing abput the situation this is not his first time doing something like this his senior year in high school he got arrested for a Class B misdemeanor sexual assault. I dont condone hitting women any type of way even if she provoke him is something wrong with this guy or something do he has mental issues. he was trying to get his character together ever since his early days of high school he has attitude problems thats why he slid in the draft. He wanted to prove people wrong but doing something stupid like this could end his career. He needs to talk to doctor phil or oprah or somebody. All that talent he is going to throw way if he dont get his act together.
For everyone who thinks he should receive a free pass... now for a second imagine he was throwing your little sister down the steps and picking her head up and smashing it back down.
Sometimes a person just needs a different perspective.
def. jail time yall.... the pacers shouldnt cut him imo... but yes he needs an ass beating!!! BY ME... AND ALL OF US ON NBADRAFT.NET... WERE WATCHING YOU LANCE... WE AINT NO PUSSIES!!!
thing is, he is not an estbalished vet. Things like this are bad no matter who you are, but when you are an unproven second round pick just trying to get into the league, you can be replaced in a heartbeat and the negative publicity isnt worth a guy who might not even be a part of the rotation. Similar thing with rashad mccants. Im not comparing mcacants with stephenson assaulting a girl, but there is little reason for teams to make room for head cases who are role players that can easily be replaced.
What did Mccants do?
How can you give up on such a great young talent jsut because of one incident. I mean im not standing up for any one that would hit a woman but they have therapy for issues like this give the kid a chance to redeem himself and show that he can be a mature young man. If you were to cut a young player for one isolayed incident like this than technically kobe would be on a different team regardless if he raped that women or not, but unfortunatly for you ignorant ballboys they listened to both sides of story and acted accordingly and thats only fair.
i read an articel that just about every team he played for said he was a head case and needed to seak physcological treatment and that word got around the league that he is not worth the trouble hence he cant find a job right now. I wasnt trying to compare him directly with what lance did, just pointing out that role players have littel lee way in how they can behave since teams are less likey to put up with that stuff.
omar the lagend, as i was pointing out, unproven role players dont have as much of a leash to get away with this type of stuff. And what makes him such a great young talent? We have no idea if he will make it in the nba. Trying to compare that with kobe doesnt work. Besides, if they found kobe guilty of rape, he would have been in much more trouble and probably served time. But as for all we know, he commited no crimes.
you know what tthe sexual assualt was?..grabbing a girls ass. not saying its right but that was a everyday thing at my highschool
i think he needs anger management because he obviously cant deal with his anger on his own and from what ive read his father is a enabler
i agree with quincey here... but... the girl's ass he grabbed... she mustve not liked it, but anyway yeah, i was sayin that he need anger managment too, hes a complete rock, dummby
i looked up the lance sexual assault thing, and it was more then just grabbing a girls ass. He grabbed her ass, breast and threatened to hurt her when she tried to fight back. He was tried with 3rd degree sexual abuse. Not excalty typical highschool behavior.
@stanfordhoops. I did a google search for "lance stephenson sexual assault" and the first page popped up a couple articles. I clicked on 3 of them (inquisitr.com, nowpublic.com and celebgalz.com) all of them reported the same story that they sexually assaulted her she tried to fight back and they threatened to slap her. I have no idea how reliable any of those sites are, but 3 for 3 on the very first page of a google search all telling the same story is probably pretty accurate.
We haven't had much bad publicity the past couple years but the seats have been regularly empty in Conseco. I'm not defending what he did or arguing that because he has talent he should always get a free pass, it's just that every circumstance is different and this one requires a bit more thought than just cut the guy.
Like it's been said, Bird is probably taking a wait and see type of approach to the issue and that is the right call. My hope though is that some solution that involves both helping Lance while simultaneously keeping him a part of the organization is the one that comes out of this whole ordeal. I'm afraid that completely cutting ties with him after a ridiculously stupid incident would hamper the team on the court.
To also elaborate on the previous statement, this team is in desperate need of being competitive or the next lease negotiation will likely mean the team leaving. Ownership ties to the city are far less now and should this city lose its team, it's extremely unlikely that the NBA would ever be a part of this city again.
cmon now ...he got .R.O.R........DOES THAT NOT TELL U SOMETHING? wat case that is serious u gonna get ah r.o.r....????????? just signed nba contract......sneaker deal on the way typical brooklyn female she wants money!!!!!!!
end of story!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im from brooklyn i kno how these chicks are out here.......
doesnt matter where you are from thats no excuse for the sexual assualt then he put hands on her once before and no charges were pressed and no knocking her down stairs and banging her head against a step AFTER knocking her down steps. if it was just about money this and the other case would have been handled without all the pub. anyo0ne that has watched him for years can tell you he has temper issues
No he has not. His maturity issues are completely overblown, he is just overly competitive and says/does dumb things on the court sometimes. Like waving his arms in the air when he was getting booed, Cal got so pissed at him for that. He has done absolutely nothing to show he is a bad person off the court.
umm yeah those games would be considered on court since it happened....on court...like chris pauls nut buster in college, shaqs fight, and many others elbows
point being cousins issues are overblown by some and isnt even close to lance or other guys
i said the same thing in the past about artest. while he is crazy on the court and weird/funny off the court he isnt as bad as some claim....the response i get to that is the detroit thing. everyone of my boys including myself would have flipped out the same way if some one threw beer on us
I don't see Bird keeping him on the team due to the Pacers past but Lance deserves a second chance. He's a young man he can be changed I really think he is just a product of his environment. Growing up in rough neighborhoods will do that to you, its too early to just pass judgment and blackball a guy who has potential to be a better man some day. Not everybody grew up in a regular house with both parents in drug free environments, you can tell he still has 'the hood' in him but I think instead of writing him off, Pacers organization try to help the young brother out.

never gonna change?..he's 19..i dont condone what he did but thats a dumb statement to think he can never change when hes only 19. jkidd and mark jackson were both a good deal older when they were wife beaters( there wasnt just one incident there were many)
