Congrats Nets. You built this team up as a contender, and boy did you show it tonight!
Hell, it only took the fact that basically Chicago's entire team was hurt....again,
Rose - an MVP caliber player has not played a game for this team
Hinrich - Basically shut down your "All Star" point guard earlier this series
Deng - Chicago's 2nd most reliable player,
and to add to that, Nate Robinson was throwing up on the sidelines, and Gibson was sick, and oh yeah, Noah is playing on one leg.
And to make it even more impressive, the Nets were on the positive side of some seriously poor officiating. So many judgement foul calls, so many out of position calls, that 2 of Chicago's 3 viable big men both FOULED OUT OF THE GAME.
And all that, just to force game 7, which you should win, but could lose.
So yeah, good job Brooklyn, I'm sure you'll wipe the floor with Miami *if* you make it to the next round.
On a serious note, Noah really costed Chicago tonight. I respect the hell out of what he brings, and how he has gutted it out this series. But when the Bulls offense finally started clicking (can't remember if it was late 3rd or early 4th), like 3 possessions in a row Noah took terrible shots that none of which came close to going in. Then in the final minute, he was a disaster, he had no clue what he was doing on that play out of the timeout with 20 seconds left, he stepped out of bounds on the most crucial rebound in the game, which wouldn't have been close if he had his head on straight, and then, HE COULDNT BEAT DERON WILLIAMS IN A JUMP BALL WITH THE GAME ON THE LINE.
I love my Bulls, but they are beyond finished if the Nets team shows up at all for game 7..which then again they probably won't.
If the Bulls do in fact lose, you have a certain "injured" point guard to blame...NOT a guy who's playing through serious pain and banging bodies with Brook Lopez every possession
You know, I'd really like to blame Derrick Rose. But the more I think about it, the more I am over the fact he chose not to play this year. It is a lot to ask of a superstar to come back in the playoffs, or almost in the playoffs, coming off a major injury, with a B level supporting cast, and expect them to win a title. They would have won this series with a 50% Derrick Rose. But the bottomline is, they have supported his decision to rest and sit out, therefore I can only judge the games on the players out there. Noah made a lot of bad mistakes and took bad shots. I'm not saying I don't admit the fact he was out there, I did, its great that he's played through the injury, and he brought plenty of positives to the table. He just really really hurt them on offense tonight.
Andray Blatche almost cost the Nets with that possession in the end. He had an open jumper, but waited too long and allowed the defender to reach him and force him to make a more difficult shot. What a bozo move in a crucial game like this.
Bulls really needed a shooter at the end there and Robinson was too sick and bellinelli just couldn't get them to fall(except that one key 3 to make it 90-88). But seriously the bulls lost by 3 points without a great defender to cover Williams, without a consistent all-around player like Deng, without a scorer down the stretch, and several sick players. It just shows the passion they have to win the game.. You just couldn't see that in the Nets. I hope the bulls can pull off a miracle in Brooklyn but either way they were the better team in this series but injuries and illnesses will have kept them from having enough.
Noah is the heart and soul of that team and is playing through pain with plantar fascitis. He's supposed to be playing only 25 min a game but is insteam playing 35+ every game giving it everything he's got. Gibson and Robinson played through the flu. It's the playoffs and after a long season everyone is banged up and the "great" players play through their injury. Brooklyn will win this series because their players are playing. Joe Johnson also has plantar fascitis and I remember Deron also has been battling ankle problems since the all star break.
The blame for Chicago losing this series has to go to Rose if anyone is to blame. It has been over a year since his injury and the report came out that he's been 100% cleared to play for a while now. It's probably too late for him to come back and be useful but he really should have tried coming back in the regular season if he was medically cleared to play. I don't understand how he can sit there and watch his teammates play through pain when he's not playing because he's not mentally ready. I used to have a lot of respect for Rose because I thought he was a tough minded player who just wanted to win. But now i'm having serious doubts...I understand an ACL injury is one of the worse injuries a basketball player can have but if he really is healthy I don't get why he's never came back. I just hope that since he is sitting out this whole year he better come back better than ever next year. Basically what I'm trying to say is you can't blame the guy on the court who's working his butt off and playing through pain when the "leader" is sitting out even though he's reportedly healthy.
Did you read anything I wrote?
Did I blame Noah for the loss? Sort of.
What I did is say that he costed them down the stretch on offense. Which is a fact. It has nothing to do with whether or not he is the heart of the team, he played poorly on offense, and it hurt the team. It isn't soley his fault he lost, and it isn't Derrick Roses' fault they lost. It is no ones fault individually. I never said that. I just said he made a lot of mistakes in the 2nd half on offense.
You can go a head and hate Rose and lose respect for him and all of that. It isn't going to change anything. The Bulls are where they are, the toughness of Noah has been unquestioned, I wasn't trying to play the blame game and start Skip Baylessing it putting percentages on who is to blame and stupid a** stuff like that. I was just observing that Noah was bad on offense. That's all.
Yes I read what you wrote and yes Noah did make some mistakes. My post was really more about how I can't stand how Rose can sit there and watch all his teammates play their hearts out in pain. All year the Bulls have played without their "leader" and got them in decent playoff position buying time for him to come back at the end of the year. I've also read he's been playing in 5 on 5 scrimmages and killing it. What kind of competitor doesn't even try to come back for the playoffs? Look at David Lee tore his hip 12 days ago and is playing. Shumpert got hurt on the same day as Rose and he's returned a long time ago.
You are probably right that he could come back. I'm just sick of this cop out for fellow Bulls fans when they really don't know how his injury feels. Keep in mind a few things...he's not just another nice player. He by far the Bulls best player. He needs to come back on his terms. Also, this is an ACL tear. This isn't "Playing while being banged up" Which is what numerous members of the Bulls have continued to do. Hell, Derrick did it last year. This is recovering from a major injury, its just different.
That u say Noah took and were terrible. But remember Nate Robinson was out of the game, boozer was also on the bench, and 2 of those 3 shots Marco belinelli gave the ball the Noah when the shot click was down so he had no choice but to make a play. I can't fault a player like Noah for going out there and giving it his all. He aged great d on brook Lopez and should be commended for fighting through his injury
22/33 at the line for an NBA team? That's embarrassing.
But how about blaming Thibs for poor rotations? I know he is doing his job in making the Bulls one of the best defensive teams in the NBA, but boy he lacks some confidence in some of his players and offensively sometimes the team looks like there is no plan. He subbed in Mohammed and played him 20 min and the other game he didn't play at all. I don't understand those movements. I want my best players rested for the final minutes. As somebody said before, this Bulls team with all the injuries, poor referees' calls (there is one play where Wallace literally held Belinelli shirt and took him down) and all the distractions of Rose's situation is there playing game 7 against a team that was made for this situations (something that hasn't appeared yet). Why don't you play your substitutes more? Butler was exhausted at the end of the game, but was still fighting for the ball, Noah was so tired and banged up that he didn't notice where he was walking. You have Malcom Thomas, who played great in the preseason to rest Noah as a high energy guy. I don't say play him 30 minutes, but I think he could give the Bulls 10 - 15 minutes of hustling and a couple of rebounds. I was pissed all night long about some defensive rotations and the way Blatche hits some impossible shots. GGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOO BULLLLLLLLSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
