bobbybParticipantI wish more people would watch these games (Lithuania vs.USA) THe Fiba team is way more physical than the NBA players. Just because you have a few guys like Dirk in the Nba that plays the perimeter doesnt mean that all of Europe is soft. The Fiba game is Way more physical. Also watch how much better coached the Lithuania team is.

omar dayzeParticipantspot on, i think people dont WANT to accept that leagues and nations outside the NBA and USA can ball. They may not be as athletic or in cases as skilled as the stacked USA roster, but alot of people immediately write off international teams as weak when the reality is they havnt seen most of the guys on a FIBA roster play.

ghettosermonParticipantFIBA rules also is a disadvantage to NBA players. Guys like Durant are used to being able to create a little touch foul in the NBA whenever they want. In FIBA when they are bumped and can’t draw cheap fouls they struggle.

ChewyParticipantIs and always has been years behind the NBA. The NBA got rid of the trapezoid lane first. They created goaltending because to was too easy to use w/ NBA players, They instituted a charge/block semi circle and the NBA got rid of handchecking because if the NBA allowed defensive players with the quickness and strength like Jordan(artest, payton, bowen, billips, williams and many many more) to put there forearm on the offensive player then the offensive player would never be able to go anywhere, ever. Asking NBA players to play by FIBA rules is like putting them in a time machine and sending them back to the 1980’s nba. Overseas players are underrated, but they do play with outdated rules.

llperezNBA players are more used to getting calls everytime someone touches them. In international ball, players get away with a lot more contact. No question the "soft" label is pretty much outdated. But one reason people still use it is becasue euro bigs in particular use more of a skill perimter oriented game instead of always banging in the post. Its changing, but still more often then not euro bigs shows more emphasis on permiter skills then dominating the paint, and thats not neccesarily a bad thing.

BallerzD30ParticipantThis was true but not anymore. These Fiba games are getting pretty rough. The fight in greece. The guards especially, they handcheck as much as the old 70’s and 80’s players did, maybe even more!

billykParticipantI like how they call the international game better than the NBA.. I prefer a more physical brand of basketball and they actually call traveling…

ghettosermonParticipantThere are actually more Euro bangers than there are skilled american post players. Look at some of the top big men in the NBA, Chris Bosh, Amare Stoudmire, Lamarcus Aldridge, David West, for some reason everyone wants to label Euro’s as soft because they are perimeter oriented but all of these guys are perimeter oriented and not true post players but we seem to ignore that because of their athleticism. If anything I’ve noticed from FIBA play is that teams like Greece, Argentina and Spain often push around our bigs. In past play guys who have been monsters in the NBA like Boozer, Brand, etc, were being pushed around.
