the term Spanish people, or Spaniards has two distinct meanings: Traditionally, it applies to people native to any part of Spain.
If you knew anything about history you would know spain was deep rooted in the development of south america.mexicans ,ricans, you name have spanish roots.Their were many ppl ,tribes,langauges lost in history because the likes of rome ,alexander the great, slave trades, wars,empires everyone from europe where not all pale skin(white) some where tanner and darker some even lighter then others like any race but white isnt the only race that came out of europe i can go on all day about this.
you cant sit here and act as if spanish ppl are white. When the slurs start flying from the racist the spanish are not considered white or when the pages are turned in history class they are not white.But for the sake of the wolves haveing an all white ball club they are white ?lol. I can give you the 2 russians as white but i cant give you the spanish.
At the end of the day we all have one creator so this is all non sense anyhow.
I can not believe that someones argument would be, that in a city that has mostly whatever race of people, then the pro sport team should fill up that team with that race. That is the most utter ridiculous argument I have ever heard. Pro sports is about winning with whomever is on your team. If you don't like a certain race of people then don't watch the sport.
I'm confused. I said it seems deliberate that Kahn is pulling out an all white lineup, probably for marketing reasons...and I got negged heavily. But then everyone after my post shows agreement with what I posted.
I don't care if I get negged because statistics are on my side. It cannot be a simple coincedence for a GM to pull together an all white lineup. For people to think that is stupid, is to ignore that the fabric that is the NBA.

that's not a coincidence that's just the current economic fact :
european players are cheaper, rookies are cheaper. Players like shved freeland claver will be considered rookies next year whereas they are pro players for a lonnnnnnnng time. So you have a partly proven player (FIBA style, not NBA... he will need some time to adjust) for a rookie price... low risk high reward, good bargain.
not about black or white, just go international cause it brings you some OTHER bball IQ for cheaper price.
Look there are 30 teams in the NBA. Most of the players are black but lets say 20% of the players are white. By random chance you will have some teams have more white players and some teams less. Maybe the chance is a little less than random but it basically goes up and down over the years from team to team.
Just by random chance you will have mainly black teams (a good number since there are more black players) and by random chance you could have a mainly white team. This seams really to be all that is happening here. I mean Kahn would have prefered for Beasely and Wes Johnson to have worked out. He put up a nice offer for Batum. He went out of his way to sign Roy (who is of mixed race, I guess).
But yes a bunch of white guys have ended up on his team. They are also all pretty decent players at pretty reasonable contracts. There are some risks thrown in there like Roy and Kirilenko. But two year contracts really aren't a big deal. You have one year to figure out how well the guy plays. If he regains his form, you've got a baller. If he doesn't, next season you have an expiring contract which you can include in trades.
Seriously though, this team is a lock to make the playoffs. I'm not even counting on Roy regaining any of his form to say this. These players are replacing some very marginal NBA players in Darko, Wes Johonson and Beasely. This could be a case of addition by subtraction. Or Kirilenko could regain his form and return to being that amazing defensive jack of all trades guy that he was. Remember those five, five, five five games where he would get five rebounds, five assists, five steals and five blocks. I had him for a couple of years in Fantasy Basketball and I remember those years.
Sorry to break the news to everyone but rubio is .......SPANISH...... if he was filling a job app he wouldnt circle "white" when its time to fill the ethnicity box he would circle latino or spanish.
Also brandon roy is black where do you guys get the white thing because he is light skin? That makes him more white? In my city we have a school called imhotep one of the best basketball schools in the area and where everyday is african history month. Thats the kind of school roy went to growing up he takes pride and being black so to call him white would be something he wouldnt like.

Let me help you, I personally cannot stand racists. And you sir, are definitely a racist.
I don't think it's racist to discuss people's ethnicity. I'm a minority, and to ignore race can often be the most racist thing to do.
As for the european players being cheaper... yes this is true. You get experience and high bball IQ at a smaller price. But there's a reason more teams aren't building their teams in this way, and that's because you can't build a contender with older players with less upside. Again, I don't think Kahn is a racist just a way to sell tickets and get people taking about the wolves. Thats all
Guys this is not a way to sell tickets. The Wolves have Rubio and Love, do you think they need anything more than that to sell tickets? Seriously, you know we all tried to catch Wolves games on TV to see Rubio and we are bummed he isn't playing in the Olympics. Love is a star putting up crazy numbers. That is a team that any basketball fan would want to watch. Nothing more needed except some wins.

what is clear as mentioned is that Kahn seems to be heading for a more Euro styled approach. Rubio and Love Work much like a Eurpoean basketball team tandem. especailly as Love likes to shoot Jumpers (which is one of the main corrolations made with european bigmen- they often have good shooting range)
Roys black , Cunnigham too, Williams (whom he drafted and Flynn too). but BS aside this is a decent looking line up. Im really interested to see them against other teams with their style of play. Adelman from what I remember was always a guy who coached using a lot of movement with lots of cutting and back doors (remember Vlade and webber evn Brad miller) sothis team coulsd easily execute in that fashion.

Ok lets get one thing straight. I don't think Kahn is purposely trying to make a statement by possibly starting all white players. He is trying to make his team better. It just so happens that the majority of the players he got are white (all except for Roy) It was just the cards he was dealt. So let's forget about the racist jokes and realize that not all white's are bad. Look at the Pacers and the Jazz some of their white players are actually pretty good. Like Tyler Hansbrough or Gordon Hayward, heck you could even put Enes Kanter on that list. (At this point I don't care if they are european, if they are white and good, then I will put them on the list to prove my point, you don't have to be black to be good at basketball) I think all of us can name 20 or more good white basketball players regardless if they are european or not. Kahn might end up making a statement but he didn't do it on purpous it was just the cards he was dealt.

Ricky Rubio is white. SPANISH isn't something you can check of for race. Basically what he is is an ethnic white. Like Italian or something like that.
