Am I the only one who believes that steph curry deserves the ROY over Evens, I mean to take nothing away from Tyreke but Steph Curry has been on a tear and with the disappearance of Brandon Jennings, I think steph curry deserves it.

I think Curry is the future of that team, they should try trading away Monta, he shoots way to much and isn’t a very effective scorer. Also, Curry has a great attitude and winning mentality, I have a hard time saying the same for Monta Ellis. Having Monta and Stephen Curry on the court next season that will be a 30-52 season.

I completely agree, I think they should have got rid of him for the OJ Mayo and Thabbeat deal. I still cant believe they turned that one down, but what do you expect from Don Nelson.

Now idk if I agree with that deal. While OJ Mayo is a true SG he does command the ball in his hands a lot, so it would not mean that Curry and Mayo would work better than Curry and Ellis necessarily. I would rather like to see Curry with someone who is selfless, but an efficient scorer like a Ray Allen. It would allow Stephen to develop at a better pace.

but the a big reason the Griz are good this year is because of OJ Mayo’s unselfish play. He would be a great shooter and someone who could bring the ball up when Steph Curry is out of the game, I mean the Rookie-Sophomore game showed how unselfish he is.

I do agree with that, but look at who Mayo has around him as to Curry. If Mayo played with Curry he would be more inclined to shoot rather than pass. If Mayo doesn’t want to shoot he can pass to either Gay, Randolph, or Gasol and Conley has his 4th option on the court. As to in Golden State Curry, Maggette, occasionally Morrow, but no one else to pass to, he won’t give it Andrins down low rather would take a contested jumper.

Yea… You’re probably the only one.

Tyreke has been doing it all season and is averaging 20, 5 and 5. It’s his award.

i have to say steph needs to be considered but i still gotta go with evans. the guy has been consistant for the whole year and im sure some will go with steph only because he has been playing great lately and if he was doing this from day one id go with him but i have to go with evans. dont be suprised if steph gets it though. was watching espn nba tonight or whatever its called and the guys on there think its possible for steph to get it because voters tend to go with the guy that plays the best lately and sometimes forgets a lil about what a player did earlier in the season

The battle for the rookie of the year between a guy leading a 19-win team and another who is on a 17-win team just goes to show this was a weak draft. Rose made his team significantly better, as did Roy, CP3, LeBron, and Amare. Those are true rookie of the year performances. Durant kind of got screwed when Seattle dumped their best two players when they got a hold of him in order to rebuild, but usually the rookie of the year is from a team whose team got better because of them. I know Sacramento will win more games this year than last, and I believe Tyreke Evans is the real deal, but the major impact in wins and losses hasn’t really been there. They had a top four pick last year and they’ll have a top ten pick this year. It kind of takes away some of the luster from a great rookie year.

Do you then think if Jennings leads the Bucks to the playoffs that he should win ROY. While Jennings doesn’t have the stats Tyreke has and doesn’t shoot as well as Curry and I know it’s the east, but the Kings and Warriors records wouldn’t have you in the Eastern Conference Playoffs either. If the Bucks make the playoffs I would be fine with Jennings getting the award.

No, because his play has actually gone down as Milwaukee has gotten better. He got off to a monster few weeks (shhh… don’t tell that to the people who think Andray Blatche’s monster week might not continue) but has really dropped off every month since November. To his credit, he is still playing hard, a solid distributor, and has made the necessary adjustments to the fact that he can’t hit a shot anymore. They are in an interesting spot because obviously Brandon Jennings is the future of their franchise, but in more and more games it is apparent that Luke Ridnour has to play more because he will hit his shots. They are also getting make in a bottle from Jerry Stackhouse. Nobody thought Ersan Ilyasova would come back to the NBA and be a solid stretch 4. John Salmons has been playing so good since the trade that now he might actually opt out of his deal. It is always a mixed bag when there is an overachieving NBA team. They are fun to watch, fun to root for, but you know that they just don’t have enough to win in the playoffs.

I agree with you on Jennings, though if he goes on another tear that solidifies the Bucks into the Playoffs it would be hard to not put him up for consideration. It’s the part I love, but hate when discussing ROY or MVP when the subject of team performance comes into affect because it is an award about the individual.

Curry will be ROY! the Reke being consistent arguement kind of works against him, he peaked out about a month & a half ago. Curry’s points are rising & prob will end up around 16-17 pts for the year. Despite begin smaller, they are just about even in rebs, assists & steals but again curry’s numbers are rising. The push is wins Sac started hot but they are struggling now, steph has GSW playing much better, Sac 19 w GSW 17. Curry at his best has be surprisingly better then Reke at his. Thats crazy to say because of reke physical gifts…but when u watch them both play, u see how special curry is

the warriors are a bad team to start off with as were the Kings, but when Derrick Rose went to the bulls they were a good team with no organization. You can see this because his team was in the playoffs the following year, and almost upset the Celtics. So to say this draft is weak is wrong, its actually proved (the class) that it is much deeper then the experts predicted. I mean not only do you have the big three (curry, evens, and jennings) but you have Lawson, Jerbako (Detroit), Budinger, Blair, and many many others that have proved they will be starters for their respected clubs for many years.

The Bulls went from getting two coaches fired as a bunch of whining entitled babies to a team that got back to the playoffs and playing with a purpose. Rose averaged 20-6-6 in that Boston series. He made that garbage team go.

As for this draft, Ty Lawson is a backup point guard. He enters games and is fast. There are a lot of those guys. What does that say about the draft? Jonas Jerebko? The Pistons had to play him because of injuries to Tayshaun Prince, and they stunk because of it. Chase Budinger is not regarded as a future starter by anyone in Houston. If they did, then someone should get fired because they have a ton of money wrapped up in Martin and Ariza. DeJuan Blair is a backup power forward who is good enough to beat up other backup power forwards who are weaker than him. That isn’t a good draft. Every draft has guys who stay in the league, and have some role off the bench. Good drafts have multiple players who have major roles in making team better. It hasn’t happened even for the best players in the draft. Darren Collison and Marcus Thornton have put up great numbers for the past month, they were 5-8 in February and going to get a nice lottery pick this summer. Maybe some team gives New Orleans a good player or pick for Collison.

BothTeamsPlayedHard: Tyreke has made a significant difference this year in his teams talent, he is their obvious best player averaging about 20-5-5 and has been getting better all year long, if you actually take the time to look at the stats you will see that he has been playing just slightly under Curry the last 12 games or so; also your argument for Rose making his team better kind of falls apart when you consider that the Bulls were not even close to the worst record in the league when they happened to get lucky enough to get the first pick in the draft and be able to draft a great PG, so it was not a huge stretch for them to rally for the 8th spot in the already weak eastern conference, as opposed to the Kings record breaking loss season last year, even with this year losing two of their starting five to injuries and being extremely talent depleted down low. Its almost like you are argueing that if put in the same position that Tyreke could not have done the same, which at least to me seems a little bit rediculous.

To everyone saying that suddenly Curry deserves ROY; why? Is he playing significantly better than Tyreke, like Tyreke did to him the entire first half of the season? Is he leading his team to a better record? Is he even considered his teams main go to player yet? Sure he has played extremely well, but over the last month he has averaged 1.5 points more than Evans, 0.5 rebounds less, 0.1 assists less, 0.1 more steals, and 0.3 less blocks. Is that really deserving of forgetting how much better Evans was than him for the first half of the season? I don’t think so.

Evans deserves it but Curry could have easily had it if he would have started off the way he is now.

    Evans: 20.4 points per game
    4.9 rebounds per game
    5.4 assists per game

    Curry: 15.7 points per game
    4.2 rebounds per game
    5.3 assists per game

… these are the numbers through about 55 games … evans team has more wins – how does he not get ROY when his numbers are better in every category and his team has 3 more wins? I don’t see how anyone could call anyone but Evans rookie of the year at this point.

does the players not leading them to the playoffs show how weak the draft is or how weak the teams are. the bulls werent real bad before rose got there. as a matter of fact they it wasnt long ago that they were a playoff team. lebron went to cleveland but where they a playoff team in his rookie year? who did amare have around him when he got to phx?..its not like he was killing and lead them to the playoffs same with cp3. melo is the only rookie who lead his team to the playoffs as a matter of fact and he had a nice team around him as well. so this doesnt show how bad the rookie class is. most teams are so bad when the rookie gets there that they have no chance to make theplayoffs even with the rookie

Nowadays it take a whole team to get to the playoffs one player will not do it. Kobe’s team missed the playoff the year before they drafted bynum. He was hurt a big portion of it but still it takes more than one person to win. Teams are too deep. Also Steph Curry’s numbers could have been better had he started off like he is playing right now but I still think Evans should be ROY though. Also it is said that Seth Curry, Steph’s brother is a better shooter and more athletic than his brother. It will be interesting to see how much better he is.

neither is stat padding. both do what they need to do in order to win. evans scores because he thinks that the best way for his team to win and because he can..no different then why curry scores. i expect evans to score more because he’s there number one option and takes the most shots just like if curry was with sac and evans was with gs. youre arguement can go both ways. some one can say well look at sac evans has to score alot. i think evans will be rookie of the year but i m not gonna try to cheapin curry’s accomplishments in order to prove my point because curry does deserve the praise he is recieving. everyone does things because of theere offense

    tyreke most consistent than curry
tyreke stats much better than curry
tyreke team record was better than golden state record

tyreke is the main man in sacramento, tyreke leads the kings in most of their wins

monta elis is the main man in golden state not curry, monta elis leads golden state in most of their wins

tyreke isn’t stat padding player, tyreke isnt aggresive if the game was already lopsided. but if the game is on the line, definitely tyreke will take over

golden state systems gives their players a good statistics every game. even the undrafted morrow looks like a 10 million contract player in golden state, trade morrow to other team definitely he will become a bench cheer leader. curry played almost 40 minutes in don nelson system, what stats will you expect? baron davis looks like dwayne wade/lebron james/kobe bryant type of player based on stats in don nelson system. even rob kurz and d-league players gets good numbers in don nelson team

as far as monta ellis stats is concern, he definitely an all star this year but NBA snubbed him because they know how overated his numbers because he played 40 minutes in don nelson system.

tyreke 20/5/5 stats….thats an elite rookie (mj and lebron level), he will take over to gets better number when the game is on the line. his not a stat padding player if the game is already lop sided on stat padding system lolz.

curry ROY over tyreke? come on lolz

some player becomes more aggresive to upgrade his numbers on lopsided game because its already no defense. the reasons i like tyreke numbers, he gets better number when the game is on the line, he takes over.

    his 20/5/5 isn’t overated

jennings team record better than tyreke team record. if someone says jennings over tyreke, ok i will considered the discussion but i still prepare tyreke as ROY

but if you says curry over tyreke in ROY, in what aspect? stats? record? no discussion….tyreke better in two categories, stats and team record.

player can win ROY even his team sucks but he leads all the stats, player can win ROY even he doesn’t lead all the stats but he got better team record.case close!

Currently Reke is the MVP, but for those who support Curry…He will become ROY by yrs ends because his numbers are surging and the team is playing better as oppose to Reke who numbers have reach a Plateau and team has regressed. With the way Curry & Collison are playing he won’t get another rookie of the month award again this year
