Watching the Celts-Knicks game and Novak is on fire from 3.  Gotta love the Aaron Rodgers celebration after every 3 also.  Is Novak the best pure shooter in the game right now?

     DISCOUNT TRIPLE CHECK!

I’m actually really really impressed by Melo and his complete game tonight. 35-12-10. He’s really stepped up as a leader since the injuries to Lin and Amare

If I was the Knicks I would be a little scared that the Celtics clawed back like that. Someone should buy Novak dinner tonight, because he possibly saved them from a huge callapse.

I’d have to disagree that’s he’s the best pure shooter. I’d say he’s the best set 3 point shooter. Shooting is not only based on 3 pointers, a player should be able to hit from mid range also and even close range

A couple days ago I came up with this theory about how the Heat should be scared as hell to play the Knicks. Not that the Knicks are better than the Heat, but here’s the thing, you know how Bill Simmons kept saying Orlando was a legit threat to Mami because they could win two games because they go unconcious from three, and another two because Dwight goes ham, well I had a feeling that the Magic just weren’t going to be able to put it together in time, but I feel the Knicks can definatly do just that, and they showed it today.

Now I know some people will argue that it should worry Knicks fans that it took another great night from Melo plus their shooters to go off, but keep in mind that the Celts shot 55% from the floor, and the Knicks were also hot, and went 57% from the floor, but look at it this way, had JR Smith even had a half decent night they would have had a better chance on Sunday. Remember how many of Novak’s shots were off. Now Tysone Chandler is not going to go off for 20 again anytime soon, but same with Pierce and his 40.

The point is, Novak, Smith, and even Anthony, but expecially the other two are good enough from range that they can have nights like these more than just once in a while. Maybe not 8-10 or 7-10, but 5-9, 4-8, somthing like that is very reasonable. And we can expect Melo to show, up throw in some D by Iman Shumpert and unexpected offense by Tys, and if Amare comes back and they can put him into the offense and use him to his strengths, than it’ll be a scary matchup for Miami, whether it be first or second round, but I honestly think that the Pacers would beat the Knicks unless Amare can come back and be effective.

I give Kyle Korver a slight edge, but Novak’s ability is undeniable.

I don’t know why people say you need to prove you can shoot from midrange bla bla bla.  He stands on the three point line so he opens up lanes for teammates, he has more space to shoot, and hello, get an extra point.  I’m sure if he spotted up from 18 feet out he would be just as great.  Would love it if he had some kind of athletic ability

I still don’t know why darius rice never got his chance to play that kind of role (big body shooting high percentage from 3pts) in nba (in miami ???)…. especially after his performance in nbdl.

now he’s playing for al manama in bahrain.

Wow, the Knicks were on fire. Novak and JR Smith. Chandler was ridiculous. Chandler goes 9 for 10. (Sure all dunks, but he is so great that he is content to just do that.) Novak goes 8 for 10 but they are all threes. JR goes 7 for 10 from three.  How is this game even close?!? Between the three guys, that is 30 shots and they score 18, 24 and 21, respectively. That is a total of 73 points on 30 shots!!!! (Since a team usually gets about 100 possessions a game, that is like being on pace to score 240 points in game.)

Yet at the end of the game, it is Melo who is getting the praise by the announcer. Sure the guy had a good game. He shot 13 for 24. He got 28 points on those 24 shots. He got to the line. He got a triple double. He set up Novak and Chandler big time. Great game for Mello. On offense. Oh, but the guy he is supposed to be guarding, Pierce, goes off for 43 points, the most he has scored since 2006. I think when your guy goes off for a career night, you can’t really say you had a great game.

Seriously the Knicks got an epic game of efficient shooting from Chandler and Novak (42 points on 20 shots), some very good shooting from JR, and yet the game was still kind of close at the end.

Final rant. The Knicks point guards are unplayable. UN-PLAY-ABLE. They cannot be played in basketball games against NBA players. Against a good team, it takes epic, once a season shooting to overcome their awefulness. The Knicks have to, even though it will be weird, they have to bring in more point guards and find someone who can play. Relying on Novak, Melo and JR Smith to just play out of their minds is not a good plan. There is nothing that has been shown this season that makes me think that Davis and Bibby can currently help an NBA team win playoff games.

The Knicks PGs match up more or less fine with the Heat.  That’s the series I, too, want to see.  If Chandler comes to play and beasts on the boards, if Melo plays at all like he did Sunday, and if Shump can remotely limit Wade or Lebron, well, the Knicks still lose, but it’ll be a hell of a series.

And everytime someone goes off like "why didn’t Coach X see anything in Player Z! Player Z must just not be any good" I want them to remember guys like Novak and Lin and Gerald Green and… half the damn Spurs.

Damn, I might have to get cable TV for these playoffs.  Or just hang out at sports bars for the next two months.

That being said, the Knicks are dangerous.  Especially if Jeremy Lin can make it back soon.  With him and Amare that gives ‘Melo’s Knicks two more weapons.  This might actually be the ideal team for Carmelo Anthony.  He is the main option on a team that plays at a realistic pace.  He has a great defensive-minded center, a good 4 man in Amare, two decent point guards (B Diddy and J-Lin), the verstatile Shumpert, and some shooters in Novak, and JR Smith.   It’s a team built for the playoffs.

The Knicks were my sleeper team a while back and they still are.  They are the most dangerous team in the East.  The Heat still only have 3 guys (or 2 1/2 guys) and the Bulls might be more of a regular season team and Rose has been struggling with injuries all year.

I bet that Carmelo is thinking that LeBron and Durant can fight over the MVP award, I’m just focused on winning a title.
