Looking at this, his size and potential, I can’t imagine him falling out of the Lotto, in a weak draft with a lot of “safe” picks. Your telling me Portland who needs a Defensive center like a Q needs a U is gonna take Olynyk over him? comon. Philly, Minnesota, OKC all could use him. Cle, they love advanced metrics, Adams is beaming with em’.

You think Portland’s given up on Meyers Leonard that quickly? I doubt they’ll take a center again this year. I don’t think Adams will be selected in the lottery. He should be top 20 for sure though. He would be a good pick for the Celtics, Hawks, and Bulls though. All those teams could use a big, physical center. I don’t think the Bulls would pass on him if he’s still there at 20. They need someone to fill the Asik role.

It’s not giving up per se, it’s better to have a bird in the hand you know. Meyers hasn’t shown much stride this year, if they like someone who is a Center, he isn’t/shouldn’t make them think twice. He is good, but you never want someone you have to impact who you draft. Especially when that person is all potential. What if Meyers regresses and Adams has a Asik-light type rookie year? They look quite foolish. I still think after the combine/workouts he goes no later than 12.

Adams is a similar prospect to Leonard, but is not as far along in his development. I highly doubt he will be better as a rookie than Leonard will be as a sophomore. Portland is better off developing Leonard than taking an even bigger project in Adams.

Adams might be the 2nd best defender in this draft after Nerlens Noel..He might be raw offensively, but his defense, hustle and rebounding will get him minutes as a rookie…He could go anywhere from 5 to 20…..

His upside is huge. But his basement is really low. He doesn’t know the game of basketball. He got by on power and athleticism in high school, that didn’t work in college. On a team without much competition at the Center position he still struggled to find playing time.

You look at today’s defenses in the NBA and the importance of an athletic, mobile back line defender, who moves well laterally, can guard in space, switch out on perimeter players, string out PnR’s and recover, etc… and it makes no sense why Adams is mocked in the 20s. Not only does he have the physical tools to do that in the future, but he’s not a string bean either. He has the frame, natural strength, length and physicality to defend the post as well.

One negative, a pretty big one, pointed out by Givony is his small hands. Had trouble catching anything thrown to him unless perfect. I think we all know how well another athletic 6’11 player with small hands fared, yes that would be Kwame Brown. Had all the physical tools, but had bad footwork, small hands, terrible foul shooter, and low basketball IQ. Sounds like Mr. Adams. He is mocked in the 20s by guys who talk to scouts on a daily basis, just have to chuckle on some of you guys talent evaluating ability.

Small hands? Lol. The ball looks like a grapefruit in his hands. I don’t know what the hell you’re looking at.

His ft shooting was bad due to a thumb injury he had. The injury didn’t heal until the last few games of the season and his ft shooting % increased significantly.

Small hands? Are you joking?? Adams has maybe the biggest hands in the whole draft (along with Gobert) probably.. He can easily hold the ball with one hand, at the beginning of the season it was really a problem, those 1-handed rebounds, and Jamie Dixon adressed him about that.. Of course we’ll have to wait till the combine to be sure of that, but I am 99% positive that his hands are huge, just watch some highlights of him.

He has the longest and widest hands at the combine. Just have to chuckle on some of you who believed he had small hands.

The very first article that I read about him said that the man has huge hands. They’ve never looked undersized to me. I don’t have a good feel for 7 footer hand size, though.

Draftexpress are the ones who actually called his hands ‘small for his size’…
“Adams seems to have smaller hands than average for a player his size”

    http://www.draftexpress.com/article/NBA-Draft-Prospect-of-the-Week-Steven-Adams-4168

Which to me is ridiculous, his hands are giant… Jonathon Givony actually said so 2 years ago after the Adidas Nations Camp!!!

“He elevates with ease off the floor for blocks and dunks, using his length and huge hands” -September 27, 2011 Jonathan Givony…

What the hell? Have the guys hands shrunk? I think Draftexpress is just bashing him at this point for the sake of it…

The guy absolutely towers over Dwight Howard, I firmly will be a top 10 defensive force in the NBA, it is so rare for a freshman to have the body control to block more shots then fouls committed… He can step out and guard guys on the perimeter… insane for a guy his size.

Yeah, and also the most annoying thing about Adams is that most of the sites (and draftexpress) list him at 6’10-6’11, 235lbs.. It’s ok, if Dwight is listed at 6’9, 250.. I mean come on, the guy looks totally like a 7-footer, you can’t just decide that Isiah Austin is 7’1 and Adams is 6’10.. If that’s the case than Plumlee is 6’8, Gobert is 6’11 and Withey is 6’10..

After he came out as one of the biggest winners in the combine I really think a tot of teams will give him looks.

OKC, Portland, Philly, or the T-Wolves can need a big man like him. If Pek leaves the Wolves need a center and Portland might need a center too if JJ Hickson leaves regardless of Leonard.

Right after the NBA Combine measurements, Draft express erased that sentence from that article: “Adams seems to have smaller hands than average for a player his size”

Makes you wonder what else they erase or edit to make themselves look good or not look stupid.

he’s not gonna be more than a 1 move, garbage man type scorer. but he has the size, athleticism, and toughness to rebound and run the floor and he can defend the bigger C’s too potentially. he’s a project though.
