     Anybody watch this game?

Damian Lillard looked like a 5 year vet out there.  He totally controlled the second half.

Myers Leonard is huge and runs like a deer.  Fantastic motor and just a great teammate. Extremely impressed with him.

Rivers avoids going to his left like a plague.  My one prediction for him is he won’t hit 70% from the FT line this year.

Rivers has no PG instincts. Don’t know why NO is trying to turn him into a PG.

Rivers is not a PG and forcing him to start and trading away Jack was even a more horrendous idea, so the Hornets are asking a rookie in Rivers who has proven to not be a PG to probably start at PG and by getting Anderson are forcing Anthony Davis to start at Center before his body has filled out, i simply can’t say I agree. Rivers and Gordon is going to be such a weird mesh in the backcourt.

I have never seen a glimpse of anything that resembles a point guard when watching Rivers. He is a player that wants to score everytime he touches the ball. He shot 1-8 from 3 and had 2 assists with 4 turnovers. Nothing about this guys makes me think he will ever be a good point guard. I think they are dooming him by pairing him with Gordon and asking him to play the point. Anthony Davis needs someone to distribute him the ball and I highly doubt that guy is Austin Rivers.

Near the end right after I said Henry looked pretty cut up since his Kansas days Leonard FLOORED him when he tried to contest his dunk attempt

If this was Rivers attempt at trying to be a point guard this was mission failed…He had one nice past toward the end of the game to the “Denzel Dude”,but other than he was looking more for his shot than looking to create for others….He would best be served at being a sixth man for NO this year simialr to what OJ Mayo was for Memphis….Pairing him with Gordon in the back court is huge mistake…He’s just not in Gordon’s league when it comes to finishing at the rim, taking smart shots, and shooting

Lol i really think y’all are overreacting its only one game and for a guy who never played pg ever he looked decent tryin to control the game for nola and he also has to get used to his teammates, what did y’all honestly expect from him in his first appearance at the pg spot a double double?? He coulda took a lot more shots then he did and botched the entire experiment but didn’t he’s trying to buy in on offense and didn’t look bad on defense, I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a way better game tonight vs Milwaukee

Lillard is gonna be a very good scoring gaurd, he is a 4 year college guy and ready to play right now. And right now at worst Leonard will be able to have the same impact as Camby did last year, which isn’t much but i will be good for a rookie.

Does it surprise you that people on here are overreacting after one game?  That’s what they do. After Montas good game for the rockets they were anointing him and then he played his second game. Hmmmmmmmm.  If Rivers has 10ast next game they change their tune.   The fact is Rivers isn’t a PG right now but he has the ability to turn into one with practice.  Sg have been turned into PG’s in the past so it’s not impossible.  Lillard was clearly a sg after his first year out here in Utah but 3 years later he is showing he can be a pg. Lollards mindset was just like Rivers yet he changed so how come Rivers is incapable of becoming a pg???

Rivers has and never will be a PG. That’s not an overreaction, it’s a simple observation. Don’t know which player you’re watching if you think he’ll end up as a good PG.

Rivers may not be a great pg now, but he isn’t really a 2 guard either.  Putting him at point and letting him learn the position won’t be all bad for him, as NO won’t be a major contender next year.  It is good that Gordon likely will be the sg, as Gordon can handle some of the team’s ball handling responsibilities.

One summer league exhibition with mostly D Leaguers and Euro league calibur players and Lillard is a 5 year vet and Rivers will never be able to play Point Guard

Again, Russell Westbrook has no PG instincts and is totally shoot first, yet he plays PG for the best team in the West. Positions aren’t that important as long as you have a fluid offense and you have good players. Austin Rivers can be a good player in the NBA. He can score off the dribble and get in the lane at will. Kendall Marshall, or any other PG they could have got at number 10 would have just been a complimenary role player.

Austin Rivers just doesn’t impress me at all.

He’s quick and has plenty of hesitation moves, but he doesn’t go anywhere. He doesn’t cover enough ground with his moves. And when Rivers did get into the lane, he either penetrated too far or just couldn’t finish.

He’s young and the chances are he’s going to get better, but just don’t see it with him. And this has nothing to do with his stats last night. I’ve been saying this since last season at Duke. He’s a prospect. The good thing is that he’s about to get to play through all of his mistakes.

I’d never really seen Lillard play until last night. There is a lot to like about his game though. He’s really good in the pick and roll. He’s a good shooter. And he can get into the lane and finish. One or two moves and he’s gone… His first step is both quick and he covers a lot of ground. He gives contact at the rim and is very strong. He’s like a poor man’s Derrick Rose.

He’s going to have his growing pains, but he’s going to be a very good player for the Blazers.
