This is as unbiased of a reviews of SU basketball prospects as I can give while being a diehard fan..please give your feedback…Waiters is our best player/scorer. He has completely changed his attitude from last year, and he has been a lockdown defender, a great passer dropping dimes every game, and a dominant scorer who can not only shoot, but is an explosive athletic guard who can score on anybody in the country, and he comes off our bench. Whenever he decides to come out he should be easy lottery selection! Kris Joseph has gotten better every year. He is a 6-7 6-8 SF with elite athleticism who has consistently improves his shooting and rebounding. He is a well rounded player who has all the skills and work ethic to succeed at the next level, expect him to be a first round pick this year. Fab Melo was a projected top 10 pick before his freshman year, and needed a year to grow and condition. He has lost 40 pounds in the offseason, and while his numbers are modest, he has been a huge contributor for SU and I would say is the most athletic 7 footer in the nation. He jumps so quickly now, stays out of foul trouble, shows quality offensive moves, and is an absolute monster on the defensive end. Brandon Triche is one of the most underrated PG in the country, he is athletic, big. smart, plays great defense, and is also a underrated long distance shooter. This is a guy that could be a star on 95 percent of teams in the country. He has consistenly improved, and still hasnt reached his potential. Jay Bilas consistently says he is the best player on our team, and he is certainly capable of playing at the next level. James Southerland is our 7th or 8th man. He is an absolute top tier athlete, with a beautiful, quick release, and unbelieveable jumping ability. While he is sometimes timid, and is working to improve against man defenses, this is a guy with the size and skill to be a superstar on so many teams in the country. How many athletic, 6-8 big men, with gorgeous 3 points strokes, are 8th men for their team? While his position on the team might hide it, I guarantee he will be an NBA player, and his potential is tremendous. CJ Fair is a nother guy who comes off our bench, and he gets lost in the tremendous amount of talent we have more than anybody. He also comes off our bench. This is a 6-8 lefty, who absolutely jumps out of the gym, and is an absolute rebounding machine/ballhawk. His athleticism is almost unmatched, and game after game he plays shut down defense, rebounds like crazy, and makes numerous offensive plays that go unnotices. Add this to the fact that he is adding an improving mid range game, to go with a newly found effective 3 point shot. He is an absolute stud that could be a top guy on most teams in the country. Think Josh Pace, but taller, way more athletic, with a better jump shot and better rebounding skills. Also add into this group long term prospects, who havent been a big part of the team this year, but obviously have trmendous skill and will be elite in due time. On most teams in the country, these players would be playing main roles and possibly starting. Rakeem Christmas, Michael Carter Williams and even Trevor Cooney who is redshirting are tremendously athletic, skilled players who will in all likelyhood eventually become NBA prospects, if they are not already. Throw in Scoop, who while I think he should be no more than a 6th man, as he was in Wesley’s year when he was at his best, has been flourishing this year as he has become more unselfish and a better decision maker, and has played tremendously both offensively and defensivly, there is a very good chance he gets picked up this year. Put it all togethor and I have it looking like this…Definite NBA players: Kris Joseph, Dion Waiters, Fab Melo, Brandon Triche, Rakeem Christmas, Michael Carter Williams, CJ Fair, James Southerland…Possible NBA players: Trevor Cooney, Scoop Jardine, Backup 7 foot center Baye Keita….I feel as if many sites/services are greatly underrating many of our players, and are either not watching, or lose track of each players indivdual skill and talent because we have so many options. When I hear about UNC or Kentucky having the most talent, it makes me want to throw up because the depth, and level of our talent, are at levels that have not been seen in the NCAA in a long time. Syracuse is by far the deepest and most talented team in the league, and any body who says otherwise is just kidding themselves. Thoughts?

Couldn’t get through all of it without paragraphs, but I will say that Meyers Leonard is arguably the most athletic 7 footer in the nation, and certainly moreso than Melo.

Let me break this down. What you may consider is very athletic or better yet what we all may thing is athletic more than likely is not athletic to an NBA scout. Best overall athletes on CUSE are Dion Waiters and CJ Fair.Fab melo is more coordinated than explosive,he is not even top 10 most athletic 6’11 7feets guys in the nation.(All three Plumlees,Lenard,The Zellers,Henson)Brandon Triche is an average leaper(no more than 33-34 inches) and also tore his ACL before which scares nba teams. So did CJ fair before as well and he is an NBA caliber athlete for sure but his prior ACL tear would scare teams.Kris Joseph will be drafted first round this year, and maybe Waiters(just maybe) but not in the lottery.Maybe next years draft. As far as the freshman go the only explosive athlete is Rakeem Christmas for a 6’9 guy he is a freak. The rest of them are average. Also athleticism is not everything but it plays a large factor into being a top pick along with skill. The best package on the team would be Dion. But all those players being Lotto or first round picks.NO WAY.

Don’t talk down to me like I don’t know what athleticism is or how it translates. If you have watched Syracuse at all this year, you would realize that Fab has been leaping quickly and explosively, blocking everything, and moving nimbily. You are touching yourself if you think there are 10 players in the country legitamately his size who are more athletic and explosive this year.

Jay Bilas, in my opinion the best analyst in the country when it comes to college basketball, consistently says that brandon is our best player and that he has every tool he needs to succeed in the NBA. You would know this is you watched every Syracuse game. His size, strength, shooting abillity, and athleticism are not often matched in the country! Show me 5 other PGs with his size and athleticism/Defense in the country. They arent there. People fawn over Kendal Marshall he doesn’t do anything Brandon would dominate on any team that needed him to.

I’m not even going on about the rest because you people are stupid and can’t realize talent, the way syracuse develops talent, and each players individual uniqueness. I will say this again. At some point these are first round picks from SU:

Joseph, Waiters, Fair, Melo, Christmas, Carter-Williams

      Borderline First/2nd Rounders

      Southerland, Triche

      Potential 2nd Round picks

      Jardine, Cooney, Keita

Cuse nation get with it or get lost the proof is in the pudding none of these so called "superteams" could run on the same court with us with our depth and talent. Our defense is unpenetrable and our length and athleticism 1-10 is unheard of at the college level. Keep hating all you want, I know what I’m talking about and I’m just tryna let the people know. BTW. Southerland is 6-8 with one of the quickest strokes in the country and a 35+ inch vertical. Lol yeah thats not what NBA scouts are looking for. You sir, are a dimwit.

Melo looks like a totally different person…i cant believe how much he has improved EVERYTHING…its like a light bulb went on and he actually gets it…

i knew Christmas would be a project, similar to Melo last year but more upside…

Waiters is a nice surprise…hes straight ballin right now after a lot of people figured he’d transfer…

Scoop will be lucky to get drafted in second round but hes our leader and you know what your gonna get from him, energy…

MCW has the length and size to be elite, he just needs to gain a better understanding on how to run an offense, love his game and upside tho…

Joseph is good as long as he doesnt have to always create his own shot, but a definite 1st round pick…i could really see him playing for a team like the Spurs or Mavs…

Triche is good…i like his game on the college level…NBA? i really dont know about that…

CJ Fair is reppin hard…i love this kid and think he will be a good NBA player…he plays a lot bigger than he really is and has elite athletism
