    So lets say that the T Wolves have a chance to get Irving and do not trade the pick. They already have 3 PG’s now and adding another one would be too many. Do they pick him and ttrade their 2 other PG’s or do they get him and use him as trade bait?

    Well if Williams goes #1 then the #2 pick will be in high demand for Irving, they should definitely trade down, if not take Irving, the Wolves haven’t had a PG in ages, Rubio is no sure thing, I’d rather have both and see which one turns into a franchise PG.

    Let the PG jokes begin, but I think they now more than likely would rather have a choice between Williams/Kanter rather than Irving/Kanter. I for one am surprised Rubio finally decided to play for them, but I think it is a good thing for both parties. For one, I still think that the Cavs are going to pick Irving first, but this may give the Timberwolves more incentive to trade the pick and shake things up a bit.

    Honestly, how weak does the Jonny Flynn pick look right now? It was Kahn’s first draft, and where all of the jokes started stemming from, it just made so little sense at the time and even less now. There is no way that you could play the two together, and while Flynn’s injuries undoubtedly slowed him down, Wolves fans had to have wished the team went in a different direction. Flynn was a boom or bust pick, especially with his size and while a Stephen Curry/Rubio backcourt might not be ideal defensively, it looks about 100 times better than Flynn/Rubio, not to mention having a shot at a wing like DeRozan.

    A friend of mine, who was living in Minnesota at the time, went to an event last summer where David Kahn was touting Flynn as an All-Star and such, but at the same time saying his team had no star power and everyone was expendable. Well, Flynn is incredibly expendable, and I doubt many teams are going crazy to get him. His value has to be incredibly diminished at this point, and while I could still see him as some teams starting PG, I do not see the T-Wolves getting equal value to his pick of 6 a couple years ago without putting a lot more up with him. The Kahn PG jokes remain warranted until he manages to get himself out of the mess he created. The reason so many people panned his drafting of Rubio-Flynn was because they saw this exact situation happening.

    In all fairness he was caught up in Rubio’s hype and Flynn just had a great season and looked very much like a spark plug point guard at the very least, he had to believe someone would jump in and offer a Sg for Flynn or Rubio and when that didn’t happen he panicked and traded his best pick at that point to the Nuggets(and didn’t get JR Smith or Aaron Affalo in return) the Next season they wanted Evan Turner and passed on DMC due to character concerns(then they trade for Beasley, Randolph and Eddie Curry) the drafting of Wes Johnson was a knee jerk reaction from losing out on Turner( both Philly and Minnesota should have traded their picks and gotten the players they needed, Sixers needed DMC and The Wolves needed Turner) this year they have a shot to get a true C or the best Pg available with the 2nd pick, now he wants to trade it away(should have traded the Picks the last two years, the Flynn/ Johnson picks were terrible, I don’t care how you look at it, Flynn should have been moved the night he was drafted and Wolves should have offered what ever they had to and drafted Evan Turner)…I am still a huge fan of the Wolves due to my KG connections but it becomes harder each draft and off season, they should just out bid everyone for Nick Young in FA and draft the best fit for the roster with the 2nd and 20th picks, since trading Flynn wont be getting you fair value just keep him and prove people wrong by letting he and Rubio play together….draft Kanter and be done with all the trade down talks, Minnesota needs the best talent available not some crappy deal for a Veteran and useless pick…

    Irving will be a better PG in the league than Rubio could ever dream of. If I were the wolves I would take Irving and look to trade rubio. However we all know how in love Khan is with Rubio so my suggestion would be to either take Kanter or try to trade down.

      I agree with picking Kanter but to say that Rubio will not be as good as Irving is not a fair statement

     Probably D. Williams will be the first pick, so t-wolves can pick Kanter or Irving and then trade Rubio or Flynn (but Kahn loves Rubio)

    I think maybe the best strategy is to draft irving (who still got great value from other gm) and trade him to the jazz against kanter and the 12th pick (if the jazz agrees but I don’t think they will) or their 2012 draft pick. Flynn could be added to that deal… (useless player for a winning team)

    They have to make room for ricky, pick kanter and let them develop has their futur franchise PG-C axe.

    This draft is full of busts and disappointments. Kanter and Irving headline that. Williams will end up going #1 as the Cavs will get more and more weary of Irving as the draft approaches.

    Flynn was advertised as a guy who was a more capable SG then Curry at the time. His athletisism, shooting, interview skills, professionalism, and leadership were likely on full display during predraft workouts. Everyone loved the kid thought he would succeed, and many had him pegged as the top PG in the class especally with all the Rubio haters and Curry doubters. The problem with Kahns madness method is he seems to forget at times this is an actaul team not a video game. You cant just acquire assets and watch them grow as individuals then decide who to trade as value and who to keep. Kahn needs to start focusing on building a team and selecting players to add to his team not just random talent. Minnesota is basically the garbage truck that scoops up all the other teams wasted talent. If the Heat (possible NBA Championships) dont want to keep Micheal Beasley there has got to be a good reason for it.

    Irving will go number 1.  Wolves will not trade 2nd overall pick.  The pick will be Derrick Williams.  They will for a change pick the bpa.  The Michael Beasley was a steal by the wolves.  They only gave up a couple 2nd rounders for Beasley.  He is only 21 years old and extremely talented.  I wouldn’t give up on him yet.  After picking Williams the wolves will have to even out their roster though.  Far too many 3’s and 4’s.  Wolves cannot afford to draft by need.  They are a 17 win team.  They need to draft bpa period.  Rubio is legit.  Wolves roster is young and talented.  They will make huge strides in the next 3 years.

    The T Wolves have to hope that Ricky Rubio is the next Jason Kidd.  But, it’s as likely as Kyrie Irving being the next Chris Paul.  Although, Jason Kidd has been to 3 NBA Finals and Chris Paul has yet to go to one.

    A Love-Rubio-Derrick Williams trio would make the most sense, but I am not sure why the Cavs would take a pass on Derrick Williams.

    The T-Wolves need to shop the pick, but I don’t think that other teams are all that crazy for Kyrie Irving.  Would a team trade a legit big man or an all-star wing player for Kyrie Irving (who might be a top 5 or 6 point guard some day, but not the first, second, or third best point guard in the league)?  I am not so sure.

    They need to take Kanter and then try to outrebound and outscore teams with a front line of Kanter, Love, and Beasley.  I would then look at picking a shooter with their other first round pick.  Even if it is too high to draft him, they need to look at Shelvin Mack.  He would be the 3 point threat and scoring punch off the bench that they need and he would make Jonny Flynn expendable.  Not sure what they could get for Flynn.  The Knicks would probably want him (but not for much) and the Heat could really use him.  I wonder if the T-Wolves would trade Flynn to the Heat for the 31st pick, a future 1st round pick, the rights to Robert Dozier, and cash.  That might be the best that the T-Wolves can do and their should be some solid guys at 31 to pick from this year plus some cash to spend in the future.  Robert Dozier is ok, he can do a lot of things and he is fairly athletic.  He could be a good 4th big man behind Love, Kanter, and Darko.  Dozier also played in that 2008 Final Four classic that also featured the MVP Derrick Rose, two all stars in Russell Westbrook and Kevin Love, Darren Collison, Tyler Hansbrough, Ty Lawson, Wayne Ellington, key Grizzlies reserve Darrell Arthur, the promising Mario Chalmers, solid role player Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, and servicable role players in Brandon Rush, Joey Dorsey, and Chris Douglas-Roberts.  Cole Aldrich was a lottery pick and perhaps the worst of the NBA guys from that Final Four.  Dozier was the last pick in the draft which means that there were FIFTEEN pro’s in the 2008 Final Four.  Darnell Jackson was also on an NBA roster this year, and Antonio Anderson played a few games for the Thunder a couple of years ago.

     There’s no doubt the Wolves will have some tough decisions to make in this draft. As a Wolves fan I’m a bit confused myself, with Rubio now coming to the team it could change things up if Kyrie drops down to #2. I think it all depends on what the Wolves feel about Rubio’s potential and the potential of top three prospects: DWilliams, Kyrie, Kanter…

    If you’re the Wolves do you get DWilliams because he’s the best player availible and trade the pick for an established player like Igudola, or keep DWilliams and trade away Beasly in hopes that DWilliams can play the #3 in the NBA, or draft Kyrie and trade away Rubio and Flynn, or take Kanter #2 in hopes that he’ll be a good fit with Love in the frontcourt. Either way I see the Wolves really improving their roster dramatically this year, and this years draft should drastically improve the franchise going foward. They will have a very talented roster, we just need a coach that can optimize that talent and Curt Rambis is not the guy.

    As much as everyone hates Kahn. I think when u look at the Move to get Kevin Love which turned out well. And if Rubio plays well. If he can pull off something good in this draft, he might be able to atleast not be a complete failure.

      Kahn didn’t make the trade for Kevin Love.  That deal was done by Kevin McHale.  Kahn drafted Flynn instead of Curry.  He needs to get this draft right or he will be considered nothing but a failure.  Kahn’s only good draft pick has been rubio and that is to be determined.

    Whatever they do they need to show some signs of improvement this year. This is the last year on Love and Beasley’s contract and i dont see Love resigning without improvement. He wants to win.

     I wouldn’t be surprised that after Cleveland takes Irving #1 the T-Wolves take Kanter #2. Imagine him on the court with Love and Rubio(if Rubio is as good as some say he is). I have watched alot of video on Kanter and well he’s a great scorer down low and has a very high basketball IQ. Wolves need to get better defensively as well and Kanter may not be able to jump out of the building, he has very quick feet for his position. If they can convince him to play the 5 and let Love take the 4.

    PG = Rubio

    SG = Johnson

    SF = Beasley

    PF = Love

    C = Kanter

    Not to bad if you asked me, good young team with room to grow.

      Stewiestoney, it would be a disaster defensively. No different than when Al Jefferson was their center. They need to trade the pick or are in for another 20 win season.

    Flynn, Pekovic, and Tolliver for Hamilton and Maxiell

    Tolliver then cut

    Minny: gets leadership with out losing a starter and keeping beasley and randolph

    Rubio – Hamilton – Johnson – Love – Kanter

    Bench: Ridnour – Webster – Beasley – Maxiell – Darko

    Detroit: get a good young point and big depth

    Flynn – Gordon – Daye – Monroe – 8th overall

    bench: Bynum – White – Jerebko – Charlie V – Wallace / Pekovic

    I really like Symbol’s trade idea with Detroit. I think it would definatelly work out better for Minny whereas Detroit wants to ship Rip anyways so getting Flynn and two role players while clearing up some cap space is a good deal too. Plus Det would then defo get Jonas and provide him with minutes as grandad Wallace will only be able to play max 20 mins, Pekovic no competition so Valanciunas can improove a lot in his first season!

    OhCanada: I’m pretty sure the reason the Heat traded Beasley had nothing to do with how well Beas was playing, they might, might have had better players to spend money on.
