i’m not talking about this upcoming season i’m talking about 5years..is Durant really going to dominate in scoring category..
in 90s there were MJ Karl Robinson Shaq..then A.I. Kobe T-Mac..now there were Durant LeBron and Wade as a legit 30ppg scorers..
so wiht LeBron and Wade playing together and Kobe getting older who else in those upcoming years is going to score 30 to match Kevin???
Melo can to it but he is always step behind biggest superstars as he is 1 or 2ppg behind league’s leader..
so who else..is it possible for guards like Rose or Tyreke? or maybe there will be another star who will get in this level as fast as Durant(Barnes?Miller?)

    Your predictions?

no one can really be to sure… the only 30 point threats in 5 years from now i think is only gnna be durant and carmelo…
lebron wont be if hes gnna be playing with wade and bosh… my darkhorses for 30ppg for 5 years from now is monta ellis and granger, highly unlikely they wont ever reach 30 ppg, but there my darkhorses

it would be possible for rose wall or evans to do it.
there are a plethora of guys in the league that with the right team situation would be capable of doing something like 30 ppg. a big part is how much control of the offense is given to said player. if the team makes it a priority for this player to score the way that Iverson had it in philly or durant has it now in
okc then there are quite a few guys capable of doing it. i dont think it will be easy to predict who will. the guys above would surprise me if they did because they are more focused on setting up teammates than scoring that much.
some other young guys that could potentially do it if put in the right situation.
    mayo
    monta ellis
    jennings
    stephen curry
beasley if things go right for him in minnesota

    some future guys
    andre drummond
    harrison barnes

As far as the 30pts go Melo is clearly the closet to getting there behind Durant.

I think some future guys are..

Rodney Purvis (Reminds me of Derrick Rose so much its not even funny). But he’s in the 2013 class.
    Andre Drummond

As far as now, Uhh, Jennings, Curry, and Ellis maybe.

This reminded me of a topic earlier in the year when everyone was posting Xavier Henry was going to be a top 5 scorer.
It made me laugh so damn hard.

I was about Rudy or Mayo for the same reason, their FG% would be ugly but they could do it. I think Quincy Miller from the 2011 class could be a 30 PPG scorer if he develops more. He fits that mold of skilled, long, athletic 3 men to put the ball in the hole.

I for one think he will plateau at some point. I mean, if you are on a winning basketball team, than you usually do not need guys to be averaging 35 points per game. Only a handful of players have done it, Wilt, Michael, Rick Barry, Kobe once, Kareem and Bob McAdoo were around their, Elgin Baylor and their is a collective trend their. No player who has averaged over 33 points per game for a season has won a championship in that season. The highest regular season average by a player that won a championship in that same year wa Michael Jordan in 1992-93 with 32.6. When Wilt Chamberlain won his first ring at age 30, on the 68-13 1966-67 Philadelphia 76ers, it was his first year in the league that he lost the scoring title. Michael, Rick and Wilt’s scoring all dipped before they claimed their first rings. So, the point I am making here is, people believe that the Oklahoma City Thunder are a very competitive basketball team. Many are rating them right after the Lakers, thanks to their young talent and of course, Kevin Durant turning into one of the most unguardable players in the game. What I think will happen, despite his amazing rise from 20-25-30 in his first three years, is that this year, you might even see his scoring dip. You ask, why would that be? Well, despite a small sample size of players who averaged over 30 ppg in a single season, players on better team usually do not have to average that many points. While Kobe’s points rose in the play-off’s to around 30 per game, he averaged around 27 ppg the past couple seasons, far below his usual total of around 30. Well, you probably say, Kobe had a better second option in Pau Gasol, who shot into his PPG average slightly. Also true, however, I believe this year, Russell Westbrook will indeed carry more of a load on offense. Not to mention that James Harden, who was drafted 3rd for a reason, will likely step his offense up significantly from his rookie year. I could see Kevin Durant averaging 28-32 points, but to me, if the Thunder truly improve by the amount most have listed them as improving, you might want to go low. It is great to have a guy who can score at the rate Kevin Durant does, but it is better for your team if you do not have a guy who has to score 35 for you to remain competitive. Since I think the Thunder appear to be building towards this, I would not at all be surprised if Kevin Durant plateaus somewhere in the middle, and maybe this year leads the league again averaging around 29-30ppg. If his scoring takes a dip, it will not be huge, but I would be surprised if he is required to average 32-33 or more per game, and I think if he does it will probably mean the Thunder will not live up to people’s expectations. As much as it is awesome to see someone put up huge scoring numbers, like when Kobe averaged around 4 more points than the next closest player (LeBron) in 2005-06, it usually means your team relies on you too much. So, if the Thunder are winning games, I am guessing it is not due to Kevin Durant averaging more points per game, but maintaining his productivity, maybe upping his efficiency, and his team mates building their abilities as well. So, Kevin Durant will more than likely win the scoring title again, but I would be surprised if he won by more than 1-2 points. I for one think Melo has an outside shot and should average around 28 again, if not more, and that LeBron, Wade and Kobe will still put up pretty big scoring numbers in the over 25 range most likely (Shaq and Kobe could average 28 each, though they did not have a Bosh, but they did have a Rice for one year. I still would be surprised if LeBron and Wade did not average 25-27 per game.) I also think Tyreke Evans will likely up his average significantly, and if Indiana stays this way, Danny Granger might too. Also, Dirk Nowitzki could be an interesting sleeper, thouh I think his team might have the depth that does not require him to average much more than last year. Gilbert Arenas definitely has shown the ability to score in bunches and I also expect Amare Stoudemire to put up monster numbers this next year. He is in the perfect system to be that 28 ppg scorer people expected him to be. Durant is definitely the favorite, but I think as Oklahoma City prepares to win, he will more than likely stop “dominating” the scoring category.

Ok so i know i may just be being a homer who is wishing the best for his team. But i think Michael Beasley is going to have a break out season! I think moving to minnesota where he is going to be out of the spot light is going to do him some good! I could see him going for 22ppg. Or maybe i am just being a fan of a losing team hopeing they gets better lol
