fliptonnParticipanti may have missed this topic but what do you guys think the starting line up looks like next year?
they ended the season with…
marshall
strickland
barnes
zeller
henson
but obviously the addition of mcadoo could shake things up, same with hairston. can barnes play the two? what do you guys think?

blackmamba13ParticipantThey’ll start out the season with the same line-up unless McAdoo is kickin tail.

Memphis MadnessParticipantI think they should bring McAdoo off the bench.

hiphopismylifeParticipantYeah conventional wisdom would say your starting lineup is on point, especially since Mcadoo could sub in at multiple positions.
But maybe they’d go in a different direction at the 2 with either Hairston or Bullock since Strickland could sub in for Marshall, Barnes, or whoever is playing the 2 in that case and still get starter-level minutes. Especially since we don’t know what to expect from Stillman White as a backup just yet.
If I was betting though, i’d think your lineup will be the one.

B-ball fanParticipantPG: Marshall; Strickland
SG: Strickland; Hairston/Bullock
SF: Barnes; Bullock/Hairston
PF: Henson; McAdoo
C: Zeller; McAdoo
McAdoo could be the first option of the 2nd unit. I think that lineup looks stacked; UNC should to be the early favorite for the Nat’l Championship.

mikeyvthedonParticipantPG Kendall Marshall/Dexter Strickland/Justin Watts
SG Dexter Strickland/PJ Hairston/Reggie Bullock
SF Harrison Barnes/Reggie Bullock/James McAdoo
PF John Henson/James McAdoo/Jackson Simmons
C Tyler Zeller/Jackson Simmons/Desmond Hubert
Looking at UNC’s team, they have amazing depth in the front court, but they only really have two guys who you would think could play PG. Luckily, Kendall Marshall is a complete floor general, but Dexter Strickland is definitely more of a 2. If one of those guys goes down, UNC might be in some trouble, as you more than likely do not want Hairston, Bullock or Barnes playing the one. Watts was a seldom used reserve who I think is actually more of a 2.
Leslie McDonald would really help back court depth, as he would probably be the best option as a third PG as well, even though he is definitely a scoring guard. The problem is, McDonald tore his ACL, and it is up in the air as to whether he will even be back this season. If he is, I am sure his presence would help, but he might take some time to get back into things. Nonetheless, this team is incredibly talented, and if everyone else stays healthy, they should be THE team to beat come NCAA Tourney time. Henson should see time at the 5, due to his ridiculous length, though he is of course quite frail. They have great versatility in their front court, but the back court could be an issue. They have 3 fantastic shooters in Barnes, Hairston and Bullock, but McDonald again really would have helped.
They are a team that could have 5 potential first round picks in Harrison Barnes, James McAdoo, Kendall Marshall, John Henson and Tyler Zeller. PJ Hairston and Reggie Bullock also more than likely have an NBA future, and Dexter Strickland should be playing pro somewhere. Kentucky may have the most potential, but UNC has experience and they have even more depth, especially in the front court. They bring back 3 2nd Team All-ACC players and the ACC’s assist leader, and have two of the more ready to contribute freshman in all of college basketball next year. Anything less than a title for this team will surely be a disappointment, as I believe they are on the level of both UNC 2005 and 2009 championship teams.

mrhancocParticipanttrue, UNC has a good front court, unfortunatly they still lack a true "big man physicality", any team with a true big guy that can bang in the paint will give them some trouble, but shot blockers like Henson and now Hubert, and Zeller’s size they should be able to contain those type of players
the backcourt is only a problem if something happens to Marshall, yes Strickland can play PG for a few min’s but I don’t see anyone else that can really help out at that position, which means I hope Barnes learned alot of new things at CP3’camp, because UNC will have to switch gears when Marshall goes to the bench for a lil rest and hopefully Barnes or Strickland can help the rest of the guys make some plays
and now that McDonald is going to be out for a while, UNC need to develope some 3pt shooters….Hairston, Bullock, Barnes, Strickland, Marshall and maybe even McAdoo…………
Im not sure how this team will shake out as far as line ups, but on paper they should be maybe UNC’s best team ever……really!, only if they all learn to play together, hit some 3pter., play some Dfense and trust Roy’s plan
I think their "best" starting 5 line up would be Marshall, Barnes (only if he can play the 2), Henson, McAdoo (would be the 3), and Zeller {line up more than likely won’t happen}
and then the 2nd team lol not bad, Strickland-1, PJ Hairston-2, Bullock-3, Jackson /Watts-4, Hubert-5,
