I just read the Taylor King article posted on this site; if you haven’t read it yet – here is the link.

    http://www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/story/20901553/back-from-the-depths-exphenom-taylor-king-finding-himself-looking-for-his-game

It was a well written article about what can happen when players make poor decisions, and do nothing to rectify them. It’s sad to see a player with so much potential at such a young age really fall by the way side, and i would definitely read the book his father intends on writing.

Some questions, I had for you; What do you think would have happened if he stayed at Duke? He states he originally left because he didn’t want to get stuck behind Kyle Singler – however he really never fit into any of the other teams he played for. He really had a niche as a long range shooter.

When I watched him play for Nova, King wasn’t anything special.  He was very similar to Singler except he didn’t have Singlers all around ability but was a better shooter.

It’s a shame that his career was basically ruined, not because of weed, but because weed is a illegal and labeled as a drug even tho it’s a natural herb.  He’s been diagnosed with ADHD so it probably would have been fine for him to go to a Dr. a get some pills which are infinitly worse then weed but are legal.

SMH!  We are supposed to live in a civil and intetellectual society yet we still view people who smoke weed like they are doing something wrong but let people get drunk and start fights every weekend because that’s legal.

He was nothing special at all.  He was a long range chucker with limited athleticism and a below average floor game.  Maybe he could’ve made it as a long range specialist, like a Luke Babbitt, but that’s about it.

Well, he kinda was until other prospects started catching up to him physically.  This kid committed to UCLA before his freshman yr…in HS.

Taylor King could have been a Kyle Korver type if he had picked a school for their system instead of which would give him a chance to be a star.

The thing was he only lived up to his All American title when playing for the So-Call All stars where he showed he could be a great rebeounder for his lack of atheticism and a good passer or at Mater Dei where he could jack up as many shots as he wanted.

He also had a problem with quitting smoking I remember reading that followed him from Duke to Villanova…smoking what im still not sure.

Taylor wasn’t even the athlete that Korver was.  He couldn’t shake guys off by running around screens like Kyle.  He was a long distance standstill shooter with deep range, but even his shooting was limited by his shot selection.  Kid used to launch ridiculously long 3pters and acted like they were good shots.
