kobyzParticipantthey are two of my all time favorites players and as you know they getting old, maybe have a few years left and they no longer at level of franchise players, i really want for Duncan and Ginobili to have one more chance to get a ring but Spurs with their current team, with a stingy owner, it’s not seems they gonna play for a championship in the upcoming years, Spurs may better to start a rebuilding plan right now, so with that said i thought on an idea, i thought on a Spurs trade with the Clippers: Duncan and Manu for Eric Gordon and DeAndre Jordan(sign and trade), the Clippers will be well under the cap so this trade could work maybe with some contract filler, i think it’s a good rebulding start for Spurs and it put TD and Mano next to real franchise player like Blake Griffin. i want you to tell me what you think of this:
1. will the Spurs do this trade?
2. will the Clippers do it?
3. is this trade make the Clippers a contender?
with team like this:
Maurice Williams/Eric Bledsoe
Manu Ginobili/Randy Foye/Willie Warren
Ryan Gomes/Al-Farouq Aminu Blake Griffin/Ike Diogu/Craig Smith
Tim Duncan/Chris Kaman/Brian Cook0 - Posted on: Sat, 04/30/2011 - 3:49am #526944
Da1potParticipantI can assure you that the Spurs would not do this trade

dalinkerParticipantTimmy is all about loyalty and the spurs organization is very loyal to him. He’s the center of their last 4 championship and they wouldnt do that trade. The person that I would see them trading is Parker.

kobyzParticipantthe Clippers could also throw Aminu to the mix?

dalinkerParticipantAminu is still a prospect and no way LAC is trading EG. Both of them are just starting to develop. If I were the Clippers, id rather solve my problems of veteranship in the Free Agency so that I couldnt destroy the core

Scottoant93ParticipantHonestly I think til Tim Duncan retires, The spurs will not go into rebuilding mode. Spurs, is one of those teams that always finds a way to get steals in Fa and the draft. The reason is because they know who they are and don’t try to bring players, who won’t fit in. Richard Jefferson was an exemption but even he started to come around this season

fliptonnParticipantwhile the spurs may not be winning championships with their current roster, they are still a very successful franchise. they will probably try to add old veterans looking to win championships, go international in the draft, and scout guys who have proven themselves overseas like they always do untill the core group moves on. but right now, their ticket sales are high, so are their wins, and they have a great core fan base in san antonio. if it aint broke dont fix it

Stevenyeah as soon as i read that i was saying no way is TD going anywhere. they dont need to trade any of there big guys. there still great! theyw ere the 2nd best team in the NBA this year. they just need to get someone… i think they need a very athletic wing. wilson chandler would be perfect for that squad. coming off the bench for like the 7th or 8th man. hed be perfect with hill.

llperezWow, spurs trading Duncan and Manu to the worst franchise in the NBA? What a slap in the face for guys that did so much for the team. They should only be traded if they ask to be regardless of what direction the team is in.

BKKnicksfanParticipantThe Spurs wouldn’t do it because that’s ending a run on a sour note, and disrespecting two of the top five players in franchise history
The Clippers wouldn’t do it because Eric Gordon is better the Manu now, and you never trade young bigs. On top of that, Duncan is on his LAST legs. He might have 2 seasons left him at the most.

aamir543ParticipantI believe Gnobili has two 16-4.5-4.5 years left in him, and Duncan needs a young Duncan, to his David Robinson. But how? I thought Splitter would be the one. He still might be, but it does not seen likley. How about this, Dejaun Blair, George hill and Gary Neal for Cousins. It wont happen, i garentee it, but I believe it would help the spurs start over. But then again, they won 60 games!!!! Who says they cant still win 50 and be a 6 seed, bring some athletes, and make a Memphis like run. Anything is possible.

TallmanNYCParticipantAamir,
Tell me again what you believe?

BostonKingzParticipantYes, if you could please post that one more time, I’m not clear on your point.

TallmanNYCParticipantKenny Smith was calling Manu the third best shooting guard in the league (behind Wade and Kobe). Sure he will loose a step, but you can still build around him and contend. So I don’t think he is getting traded. But I agree that the Clips won’t trade their cheap and young SG Eric Gordon for an older guy even if he at the top of his game.
The Richard Jefferson thing was a complete disaster. I don’t know how he falls apart like that from being pretty good at the Nets. The guy scored 10 points over the last four games of the playoffs. 2.5 points per game? And he played starter minutes in all but the last of those four games. That is just epiclly bad unless you are in there only to play defense. Let’s put it this way, even Ben Wallace would be worried if he ever played four playoff games in a row and only scored 10 points. That is basically what lost them the series. That and the fact that Memphis is just good.
But Jefferson played okay during stretches of the season, so maybe there is someway to salvage his career.
I think TD retires a Spur unless they gift him to a team at his request and out of loyalty so he can contend for another title.

OnionsParticipantAny Spurs fan who wants to get rid of Duncan the year before he retires is not a Spurs fan.
