    COLUMBUS, Ohio — Terrelle Pryor’s career at Ohio State, which started with so much promise and potential, came to an abrupt and scandal-ridden end.

    The Ohio State quarterback announced through his attorney Tuesday that he would not play for the Buckeyes this season. He had already been suspended for the first five games for breaking NCAA rules by accepting improper benefits from the owner of a tattoo parlor.

    "In the best interests of my teammates, I’ve made the decision to forgo my senior year of football at The Ohio State University," Pryor said in a statement issued by Columbus lawyer Larry James.

    James said entering the next NFL supplemental draft is Pryor’s "desire." But James acknowledged labor uncertainty could lead to consideration of the Canadian Football League or working with a personal quarterback coach first.

    James said Pryor told him of the decision within the hour and that Pryor said it was "in the best interest of my teammates."

    I’ll throw it out there, Pryor is 6’6" and 230 lbs. and not even 22 years old, why not try to make the switch to basketball? Even if he does not make it in the NBA, there are more options for playing basketball somewhere for good money than football. The CFL and Arena leagues don’t pay much at all, and the careers are obviously short due to the nature of football. His size, athleticism, and ability to generate interest would assure him of a NBDL team giving him a chance. That much would be a given, and if he didn’t think he was going to be the next Mike Vick he could have entertained the possibility of playing basketball at OSU as well. There are no shortage of guys who go to the NBDL, play for those pennies for some time, and use that to either get a shot at the NBA or a club in another country.

    Also, provided Pryor made the switch wouldn’t it just be great if Pat Riley had a sense of humor and had the Heat could draft Pryor in 2012 just to twist the knife into Ohio one more time?

    @BK

    If the suspension would have been his whole senior year he could have redshirted if the suspension did not affect eligibility. Though, my point is moot bc it probably would have.

    @BTPH

    I LOVE IT!!!!! Why not Pryor is athletic enough to do it especially if he works his ass for the next year focusing just on basketball. I mean if he wanted to play basketball in college I AM SURE he would haev been allowed to. Also, I am happy he decided to leave for the sake of his teammates, I am sure it was an extremely emotional decision for him.

    As a Badger, good riddance to probably the most overrated QB in the country. No way he makes an NFL roster.

    yes, he should have declared from the start,  I would have… although I know he didnt think all this other stuff would come up, he was only looking toward the 5 game suspension.   he still has a good shot at the NFL, but I agree with some of you guys in that he should at least consider focusing on basketball…see what options are there.  with his athleticism and skill he probably has just about as good a chance.

     I think as a badger you’re just angry. 3 straight Big ten titles are at least a share of it. 31-4, almost has all of the ohio st records in 3 years. Top 10 in passing effiecency last year, TWO Rose Bowl MVPS. I don’t think he was overrated at all. The SEC Is just the best conference in the country.

     He dropped something like 40 on Devin Ebanks in highschool. And banks isn’t exactly a slouch defensively as LAL drafted him on his defensive abilities. I’d say he shoul give it a shot, especially since I always thought he was somewhat overrated as a football prospect anyways.
