jaysmith1987ParticipantTerrence Jones and Harrison Barnes will play each other this year we will get to see who looks like the better matchup. Maybe Carolina puts Barnes on Jones to try and keep up with him this game will determine alot ot they are able to match up.

TRC1991Participantfrom what i’ve seen, terrence jones looks like a much better prospect…more assertive, extremely passionate, damn good offensively
barnes looks a little timid IMO

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantJones motor is ridiculous, his stroke has been money too.
You can really see the Lamar Odom comparison coming out, except he’s a much better shooter than Odom was early in his career

Ghost01ParticipantTerrence Jones is dominating games. Harrison Barnes takes a couple of 3s and then takes his ball and goes home. Not even close to this point, T Jones all the way.
PS
He is better than Sullinger, too.

Slow and steady pace, can really take his player off the dribble and shoot the long ball. He can over power smaller forwards in the post and can take bigger guys off the dribble

JNixonParticipantI think Barnes will be better in the long term. Jones is putting up better stats and whatnot, but Jones is a Marvin Williams-style tweener forward from what I’ve seen. Barnes is struggling more than anyone could’ve projected, but I think he’ll be a more successful player down the line. I still like him more than Jones as a prospect.

Mr. 19134ParticipantTerrence Jones is not a tweener he is versatile. There’s a differene a tweener is somebody like Anthony Randolph who succs at every position they play him at. Somebody who is versatile say Jeff Green, can play a number of positions well.
And Jones plays nothing like Lamar Odom because Odom never played with the fire Terrence Jones play with, and was never the pure scorer Jones is. You could say Perry Jones plays like Odom but never Terrence Jones. And Terrence Jones has to remind you guys of Carmelo. Jones and Melo are both man childs in college and pure scoring forwards who can take a game over. Jones projects more of a small forward in the pro, but like Jeff Green and Josh Smith he will be able to start at power forward on winning teams because of his length and natural strength. At the Hoop Summit Terrence Jones measured out at 6’9 in sneakers with a 7’2 wingspan so size is not a factor as he has plenty of size to play Power Forward. But his perimeter game is too guard to keep him playing in the post.
And Barnes reminds me of Marvin Williams because he plays really timid and passive despite having the natural ability to take games over.

Mr. 19134ParticipantI agree T Jones plays like Pierce but with one BIG difference. Jones has that ability in a 6’9 240 forwards body.
And I don’t think it’s fair to say he is a poor man’s anybody. Jones has a lot of potential. He got the ability to put up big numbers in the league. He is already averaging over 20 a game and shooting a crazy percent while he is at it. T Jones remind me so much of somebody like Pierce or Melo in Jeff Greens body. Terrence will have the ability to play either forward position effectively but he shoots and handles the ball too well not to think he is a legitimate small forward. Terrence Jones game really reminds me a lot of Thad Young on steroids.
And what does the term cornerman mean i have never heard it prior to your post.

meisi4Participantas everybody i am impressed by the season start terrence jones had, but speaking for me i expected jones to be a pretty good player. but i did expect barnes to be better than he was so far so i guess right now jones is the better player.
but i would like to remind everybody that it is a long season and barnes was a great high school player as well so give him some time to get used to the next level. maybe he will get better during the season and thats what i expect to happen.
just think its a bit early to crush barnes like it was done in some threads….

lalailaParticipantbefore the season it was like this for me: Barnes clearly #1 TJ late lottery but now while it’s now big suprise anymore with TJ Melo-like 20/10 games plus crazy versatility and no big suprise anymore with Barnes under 15pts and not so much versatility as expected i’m one of those who start to believe Terrence is a better prospect, for me Terrence is top2 now Harrison is in the top3-5 range for now..
and Terrence isn’t a tweener at all..6’9 244 7ft plus wings for 18yrs old!! he is already so so similar size to full-time PF like P-Patt was last year also rebounding is one of those stats which translates very well to the pros and TJ is double double guy he is very physical plus suprisingly he blocks shots at the highest level (2.5 per game)..and offcourse no questions about ability to play SF with his skills dribbling athleticism passing and even pretty good range now.
something like..Paul Pierce meets Lamar Odom?

stanford hoopsI like The odom comparision. i can see jones numbers rounding off to what lamar did as a freshman ( 17ppg 9reb 48%fg 33 from three. Odom was a better ball handler though.
I think Barnes is the better long term project although right now theres no real proof to support that, just opinion

JNixonParticipant"Tweener is a guy like Thad Young that can’t really play either forward position effectively."
Yeah, a former 15 and 5 guy can’t play either forward spot effectively.
And how does he play like Lamar Odom? I don’t see that. He’s not as good as passer or ball-handler, and it’s not even really all that close to being on the same level. He also plays with a higher motor and has more base strength than Odom, which allows/will allow him to do more around the rim and in the post. I simply don’t understand that comparison. Odom can function as a point-forward. Jones isn’t going to be a point-forward in college, let alone in the NBA.

IndianaBasketballParticipantOther than scouting reports and youtube highlights, I haven’t really seen too much of Barnes until this season.
It’s early and like I said… I haven’t watched him a lot until this season, but he looks disappointing. The first thing that has jumped out at me about him is his lack of aggressiveness and timidness.

From what ive seen and read most people compare Jones to odom Even his coach. I think this site compares him to odom/marvin williams before the season started.Of course you will have people who dont see it just like with all comparisions. I really like his future since he’s gonna get better handles, jumper as he gets to work with nba trainers. I really like he passion he plays with as well. I think i take back the Barnes having a brighter future. Everything with him was based off what he did in HS plus potential but so far he hasn’t shown any indication that he is better now or will be better in the future
