Admittedly have not watched a lot of raptors games this year, but I liked Terrence Ross coming out of UW last yr. I was wondering how the Rudy Gay trade will effect him?

was thinking they same sorta thing with Fields, Derozan and Adams also already there. Im hoping theres another trade in the making here. I see Ross as a 2 realistically and longterm so somethings gotta give at some point. Ross will have to come off the bench which is a shame since they aint winning anything soon.

I had a similar thought I’m glad you brought this up. They have Rudy Gay, Derozan, Alan Anderson, Landry Fields, and Terrence Ross. Fields is signed to a horrible contract and it will be tough to trade him. Alan Anderson has had a solid season but long term he’s not a solution. They just gave Derozan a big extension. I have no idea what they are doing. They are going to have to deal or amnesty someone by the start of next season. I do not think the Rudy trade is the last we have seen from the Raptors.

This trade will make Ross that much more valuable. Neither Derozan or Gay are lights out 3 point shooters and Ross will be one of the top shooters in the league in a few seasons.

TO’s wing spots are jam packed right now so look for them to make a move. Most tradable is Alan Anderson right now, but surprisingly I have heard rumors of some interest in Fields even with his contract and gimp elbow. If Pietrus can get healthy I don’t see him sticking around too much longer. And Kleiza is likely going to be amnestied if not healthy or traded by the deadline.

Most likely to me…TO keeps Ross and Fields in their wing rotation, Anderson gets traded, Kleiza gets amnestied, Pietrus…whatever.

@ theballerway I agree that Ross is def a 2 but I was just thinking along the lines if everyone else that the wing is log jammed in Toronto. Grizz should have pushed for Ross in the deal he’s young athletic and on his rookie contract for the foreseeable future and that matters to the cheap grizzles. And as a bonus reunite the UW backcourt that won pac12 regular season but didnt dance!

The Griz did push for Ross and it was a non starter. The Raps hve two untouchable players right now as far as trades go. Ross and Valenciunas.

Yeah.. If Ross was a part of the Gay deal, I wouldn’t have watched the Raptors anymore.
I think Ross is a 2, which he does fit pretty well next to Gay as he is a very good shooter. I hope his minutes just don’t drop too much because we are so logjammed at the wings.

I just posted an idea about Gasol going to TO. Josh Smith/Korver to LA, Gasol to TO, Bargnani and either Ross or Derozan to ATL. In this deal, TO rids themselves of Bargnani’s contract and bring in Gasol who helps now and is a great tutor for Jonas. I know TO fans loves both Ross and Derozan, but you have to give to get. Ross will fit better with Lowry and Gay, and Derozan will fit great with Teague.

As a Raptor fan I am truly sad to see Jose Calderon and Ed Davis go. Jose has been the leader of this team for years now, not the most talented Raptor by any means but by far the most professional player to ever don a Raps uniform, whether that be on the court or off it. Jose is the definition of humble, Detroit is very fortunate to have him he`s going to work some magic with Monroe and Drummond. As for Davis, here in Toronto we watched him grow in his first year, go through his ups and downs in his second, and now in his third year he has shown that he knows what it takes to be a good player in this league. I wish them both much success with their new teams… And for damn sure T. Ross is untouchable, he`s given us better highlight material in the first half of his rookie season than any Raptor since Vince Carter.

You and me both. Jose was a fantastic guard and one of the greatest people involved with the franchise ever. I was always reluctant to accept that his contract had to be moved, but sometimes you just have to do the right thing for the team. And Ed was definately in the same boat. Just glad it is not me having to make those trades because it would be very difficult.

Let’s just make sure Jose gets his standing O every time he takes the floor in TO regardless of who he plays for.

This is just a hunch, but I see the Raps playing more small ball with Gay seeing more time at the 4, which wouldn’t affect Ross’ minutes at all at the 2.

I think derozan and his contract are the next to go. They’ll keep gay at the 3 and start ross at the 2

Why? His new extension hasn’t even kicked in yet. At least give him a year under the new contract to see if he can play up to it’s value.
If they flip him already then they just basically decided to give him an extension and deemed it a mistake, all within the span of 3-4 months.
