Interested to see what people think of him. He’s pretty buried behind DeRozan and Gay but when he has got a few minutes I’ve thought he’s looked good. He can shoot the ball at a good clip (40% + from 3pt in college) and has unreal hops.

If he gets his chance in the next few years what do you think his ceiling is?

I said it when he came into the league, he reminds me of J-Rich and I honestly belief that is his ceiling as well. Could be a 20ppg guy on a bad team or a great 2nd scoring option on a play-off team averaging about16-17ppg 5-6rpg with numerous highlight real plays.

Hopefully he gets traded to a situtation where he gets some decent minutes and can crack the starting rotation.  I think he’d fit will on the Bucks and gel with their core group, either that or Detroit.

For Terrence Ross’ sake I hope he goes to neither of those teams. I wouldn’t mind seeing him in Boston or Memphis (they could do with a scorer of his caliber)

Personally I would like to see him grow in Toronto along with Jonas. I think Gay and Derozan have a limited lifespan in Toronto and Ross will get his chance soon.

Honestly he needs to leave that team

    My Ideas:

Dragic and Goodwin for Ross and Lowry

Raptors: get a point guard who fits with the Demar and Gay better

    Dragic – Derozan – Gay – Johnson – Jonas

    Augustin – Goodwin – Fields – Hansbrough – Gray

Suns: Get a wing player who can run with Bledsoe

    Bledsoe – Ross – Green – Morris – Plumlee

    Smith – Goodwin – Tucker – Morris – Len / Okafor

    Or

Ross and Johnson For Derrick Williams and Brewer

Minny: has its wings for the future in Ross and Muhammed

    Rubio – Martin – Ross – Love – Pek

    Barea – Shved – Budinger/Muhammed – Johnson – Dieng

Raptors: Gets its Powerforward of the future

    Lowry – Derozan – Gay – Williams – Jonas

    Augustin – Fields – Brewer – Hansbrough – Gray

To be quite frank, neither of those ideas work.  Dragic is a better player than Lowry by a significant margin and Ross is a project like Goodwin.  Ross is better right now than Goodwin, but Goodwin has a lot of upside.

And Amir Johnson is a better player than Derrick Williams right now and the Raptors probably don’t value adding Brewer more than keeping Ross.  I don’t know why the Raptors would do that trade, where the best veteran and the best young player in the trade are both leaving Toronto.

Ross was really good when given minutes last season.  This is what I found out last year:

While playing 20-29 minutes a game (25 games), he averaged 11 PPG and 3.5 RPG while shooting 46% FG, 39% 3PT, and 79% FT. Well above his season averages. Only problem is, where is he going to find 20-29 minutes in a line-up featuring DeRozan, Gay, Fields, and Anderson? All of whom averaged more minutes per game than Ross.

Yeah, I wrote that last season though.  Ross should be a very good player in the L.  Anybody think DeMar should play the 3?

I think the J-rich comparison is a great one but from watching most raps game he’s got a long ways to go. VERY inconsistent, it may be that hes having trouble with not being guaranteed a good amount of minutes since entering the NBA (probably first time ever for him) but its very evident. There are still too many times he’s in the game that you dont even realize until he makes a mistake. Very nice looking shooting stroke but surprisingly misses pretty badly when he does and for all that athleticism, doesnt use it to attack on the rim enough or play good d. If you see the highlights, its mostly fast breaks and the occasional put back.

At this point, as a raps fan I want to either see him, demar or gay traded because they all need the minutes to be properly judged and we could receive decent value in return. Even though demar seems like hes been around for a while, hes only 1.5 years older than ross.

Not sure its the inconsistent minutes, a lack of confidence or some comination of that but he needs those 30 mins/gm to show what he can do.

I love to watch Ross play on the offensive end but on the defensive side of the ball there are times he is just brutal to watch. If he could step it up on that side of the ball hed force them to keep him on the court.

I think he’d be a great fit on the Celtics.  Can you imagine Rondo ally-ooping to Ross?  It’d be the next Monta Ellis Vince Carter Combo

There is a reason his playing time has been limited and it has nothing to do with Derozan and Gay being there.  As one or two of you have hinted at, his play has been inconsistant, and in some cases, downright awefull.

Offensively, no question – his game will come.

Defensively – he has shown in a few cases (including last night vs Harden) that he should have the ability.  Just needs to follow through and play like like every day.  He has had some piss poor nights on the defensive end.

In the end, Casey is a defense first coach that is more likely to cut minutes for poor D than poor O.   It is up for debate whether you play Ross anyway to get the developement time in.  I prefer making him earn his minutes, and I really think he will turn the corner soon.
