could the nets be pulling a swift one saying they might take wes johnson? Maybe they are saying that so the wolves can trade up to get him so the nets could get another 1st round pick? It makes no sense why they would just all the sudden switch on favors its obvious they need a PF. I think they just want to get a 2 for 1

I think thats what there doing, bluffing in hopes that Minny will panic and try and move up 1-spot

But doesn’t look like Minny is biting, so I think they’ll take Favors in the end…

If they actually take johnson and the wolves dont trade up i would assume Ny fans would be pissed since they need a PF so bad and have been for years

im not thinking its a bluff. The nets have a ton of cap space and the new owner has promised to play the free agent market aggresively. Way more pf’s up for grabs then sf’s. It’s very possible they get a boozer, amare, bosh, dirk, or someone through free agency making favors redundant. And im not nearly as high on TWill or CDR as a my future starting sf. They would be beter as backups.

I think the TWolves want Favors, because they are trying to form a combination with he and Rubio. It would be the new version of Nash and Amare. This would also make Kevin Love and Al Jefferson more expendable.

For having the third pick the Nets knew which 2 players wouldn’t be available (Wall and Turner). They’ve had all the time since the lottery to work out players and decide who they want. Chances are they had their minds set on Favors heading into his workout with Cousins. They say Cousins did great but who’s to say that’s not a lie to get Sacramento, Golden State, Detroit, or another team to trade up. They also tried saying Johnson had a great workout, but their trying to get Minnesota, Golden State, or Los Angeles to move up. New Jersey sees good talent at #3 but think a free agent (Amare, Bosh, Boozer) would be better to sign than to take a risk on a draft pick. They’ll try trading the third pick and some bad contracts to clear up space for 2 big name free agents. The Nets will go after LeBron or Dwayne Wade plus a power forward I previously mentioned. If they pull it off the Nets will go from worst to first.

I mean I understand the logic in the bluff. It’s perfect timing with the free-agent class that’s out this year. But on the other hand taking Wes Johnson may not be as bad seeing as though he is ready now. If you take Favors which in the future would be the best choice you don’t know what you’re getting (right now). I feel the Nets are trying to convince any free agent who is considering them that they want to win now. The other problem it presents is that they turn off some swing players who may want to come there. They will be loaded if they draft Johhson. They will have Lee, Roberts, Terrence, etc.

You know what the Nets choice is more difficult then it seems. Then if you draft Favors how does that affect his long term development when Amare, Boozer and Dirk is out there and may be willing to sign? They have a lot of questions to answer… I say take Favors and hope for the best.
