This is from hoopshype.com. Dwight Howard pretty much threw his Orlando Magic team under the bus. Is it me or this guy ruining his reputation EVEN MORE? I think it's ridiculous what this guy is saying and doing. Definitely one of least favourite players in the league.
Why would he say that? Why couldn't he have said something like "I miss my teammates in Orlando, but couldn't be happier with my teammates in LA."
It's not like it's not true but that's something you don't say you know...publicly
Those teams were FARRRRR from trash & unwanted.
-Back to back 59 win seasons (1 finals appearance, 2 ECF appearances)
-Hedo & Rashard were hitting clutch shot after clutch shot after clutch shot in the playoffs.
-Pietrus & Lee were great perimeter defenders who also hit big shots.
-Gortat had a big game in the 09 playoffs when Dwight was suspended to clinch the first round over the 6ers.
-Redick got offered a deal by the Bulls.
-Hedo got a FAT contract from Toronto.
-Ryan Anderson got offered a deal by the Hornets
-Courtney Lee was wanted in the VC deal.
-Gortat was wanted immediately following the 09 playoffs.
Dwight ASKED for Arenas, Big Baby, & to bring Hedo back.
& Dwight will NEVER have a coach that cared as much for him as SVG. SVG would go to war with Dwight at any given time & Dwight just threw him under the bus as well.
It's a shame really......& Dwight really needs to grow up.
dwight grow up? that's not going to happen.
Does anybody work PR for Dwight or what?
In Yahoo's Ball Don't Lie blog, they pointed out that Howard was shipped to the Lakers along with 2 Magic teammates among the "players nobody wanted": Earl Clark and Chris Duhon. It'll be fun to see how they react to that in the locker room, lmao
I'd like to read or hear the rest of the interview. I think people are too quick to react when they only hear one quote.
He did skip college after all... if it wasn't for basketball it is not like Dwight Howard was going to be the person most likely to come up with a cancer cure.
He former teammates were good enough that they didn't give him crap for not making freethrows or winning more playoff games.
wait till he leaves L.A. and starts talking Trash about the Lakers
He only said they were full of players that nobody wanted... Look at the roster from last year, no one on that team is a player that another team wanted to go after. Jameer either. J Rich, Hedo, Glen Davis, Ryan Anderson, Von Wafer. He didnt say they were terrible players. He meant it as if they just arent high guality players, which is true. Everybody's just down on Dwight and going with the media. All of that he through them under the bus was nonsense. And yeah Earl Clark and Chris Duhon were on the team also. But no one was knocking the door down trying to get them either. People just arent realists these days.
"Look at the roster from last year, no one on that team is a player that another team wanted to go after."
Ummmm the Hornets obviously wanted Anderson & the Bucks/Bulls JJ.
Probably should be a little more specific & not type such ignorant things.
Sorry for not being specific.... There were no stars on that team. There was no one that teams were DYING to have. They had a lot of serviceable role players. Reddick and Anderson are good shooters who will always have spots in the league, but they are not players that teams will heavily pursue. That's how I interpreted what Dwight said. I never typed anything ignorant, stop being a dumb azz
Report from Jameer Nelson:
Jameer Nelson says former teammate Dwight Howard needs to finally "take ownership" of the things he says about the Magic.
Nelson's comments come after Howard told a local TV station in L.A. that "my team in Orlando was a team full of people who nobody wanted, and I was the leader and I led that team with a smile on my face." Nelson, who has remained quiet despite Howard's comments about his Magic teammates and his time in Orlando, finally had enough Wednesday. "At some point, when are you [Dwight] gonna as a man, when are you going to take ownership and stay out of the media in a professional manner?" Nelson told the Orlando Sentinel. Did we mention Howard and the Lakers make their first trip to Orlando on Tuesday? That should be interesting.
Jameer Nelson is 100% right. Dwight couldn't have picked a better time to say what he said lol. Going to Orlando? That should be fun. Dwight needs to learn to keep this mouth shut and joeygladstone put it perfectly in his post
Rashard Lewis not too happy....
John Denton @JohnDenton555
Former #Magic F Rashard Lewis did not take too kindly to Dwight Howard's comments about his unwanted.
More Rashard on D12: "I think it’s disrespectful more than anything because we helped Dwight become the type of player that he was" #Magic
John Denton @JohnDenton555
Former #Magic PF Rashard Lewis on D12: "It’s strange. If anything he should be focused on the Lakers and getting those guys into the POs."
John Denton @JohnDenton555
#Heat PF Rashard Lewis and #Magic PG Jameer Nelson spoke over phone on Wed, and 'Shard said they talked extensively about D12 comments.
Brian K. Schmitz @MagicInsider
Lewis on Howard: 'We made a good run. Hell, look at those banners hanging in the stands. They don’t say Dwight Howard on them..."
That last one was awesome.
JJ not happy either.
Ramona Shelburne @ramonashelburne
JJ Redick didn't love Dwight's quotes about the Magic, either. "I would be more surprised when Dwight starts taking responsibility."
Ramona Shelburne @ramonashelburne
Redick on Howard's quotes: "You can't take all the credit and not accept any of the blame."
Really proud of those guys for not keeping their mouths shut. Good for them.
over rated player there has been in the NBA for quite a number of years. Which is par for the Lakers, because two of the other most over rated are also on the Lakers (Kobe, Nash).
In the 09 finals Rashard averaged 17, 7, 4 and Hedo averaged 18, 4,4... lee and pietrus did everything they could to try and slow down Kobe, but kobe is kobe. The audacity of Dwight Howard. Kobe said a few things about smush and his team back then that were true but still unproffesional, but Kobe and Lebron have got to be looking at Dwight saying " you have got to be kidding me." . Dwight you didn't win but that does not mean you played with scrubs... I'm embarrassed that he used to be one of my favorite players. I'm sorry for the bit of a rant but this is ignorant.
I have always disliked howard ever since he put on that superman cape to go along with the superman music in the dunk comp - how arrogant are you ? Your dunk wasn't really that good anyway...
He has also hurt D Rose at least twice with hard uncalled for fouls with Rose having to miss multiple games.
I have bagged Dwight Coward numerous time on here.... Hopefully this time I won't get negged as ppl are starting to see him for the douchebag that he truly is...
Superman ? Really.....
That dunk was pretty sweet...
Dwight: Comments On Former Teammates Meant Magic Were Underdogs
Mar 06, 2013 11:57 PM EST
Dwight Howard has received backlash from former Orlando Magic teammates because of his comments saying they were "a team full of people nobody wanted."
However, Howard provided clarity on his comments Wednesday, stating he meant the Magic were always underdogs when he was there -- not in a disrespectful way.
"It was never intended to disrespect or downgrade any of those guys," Howard said.
"I would always tell them I wouldn’t trade them for the world."
Howard will face the Magic in Orlando next Tuesday for the first time since being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Howard led the Magic to the NBA Finals in 2009.
Can you guys smell BS?! Again, he is trying to cover up his tracks. Just admit already, you're one cocky guy and you think you're on the top of world. Dwight Howard needs to stop being a baby. Never throw your teammates under the bus like that.
"He only said they were full of players that nobody wanted... "
Whether he meant no disrespect or not....its best not to say NOTHING. Dwight is just not smart. If anything...Orlando is a thing of the past to him so if someone were to ask anything just say that its in the past and you have moved on. Just think of what his Laker teammates must think his opinion of them are...outside of Kobe. Just STFU sometimes.
On another note, he has really painted himself as a selfish player, one that wants to win ONLY if he is the main man. Well, the reality is, that may never be. A team winning a title with him as the main guy may not be probable. He is not the main man in L.A. and if he goes to Houston, he wont be there either.
The Lakers play at Orlando soon - this could be the most booed / watched return game since Lebron visited back at Cleveland....
This game next week has the potential to be much worse. Being a Magic fan & visiting magic boards, fans are already lining up things to say.
-One guy said they should have all the fans wear those loyalty Dwight Howard jerseys like a playoff game....hahaha
-One guy said they should chant....TY-SON CHAND-LER *clap clap clap clap clap*....since that seems to be his role with LA.
- One guy said they should chant....COWWWWWARD.
-One guy said they should chant....BROKE BACK HOWARD *clap clap clap clap clap*.
-One guy said they should chant....KO-BES B***H *clap clap clap clap clap*
-One guy said they should chant....LOY-AL-TY
I for one am EXCITED to see how he reacts. Knowing him he will do something cringe worthy to gain attention.
with what happened last year in orlando with the constant changing of mind whether he wanted to stay or not and wanting van gundy fired; that made LeBron's "The decision" look like nothing compared to howard's foolishness
he said he meant it in a totally different way and I am one of those who are guilty to jumping to conclusions from something that was likely taken out of context. the media aint s**t and they always want to make something out of nothing. with that being said, Dwight still hasnt learned that he has to watch what he says or dont say anything at all (what Jameer Nelson said was 100% correct)...particularly at a time when public opinion of him is so low.
The media did it just to stir up more suspense for the Orlando LA game.
"Journalism" is a thing of fiction nowadays.
I'm not really a Dwight Howard fan, but why would he throw his teammates under the bus? I don't think that was his intention.
Howard just needs to be quiet though. He's clearly not PR smart and I think it's about that time where he just needs to be quiet, get healthy and just let his play do the talking. He's taken LeBron's spot as being a PR dummy.
